  1. Agree with the others. Practice with a spook type lure. I like the strike king KVD sexy dawg. Very easy to walk
  2. About 25 miles south of Green Bay
  3. What pound test and what gear are you using? I use mono most of the time now and end up with a mess like that on rare occasion but it should not be a regular thing.
  4. I fish here in Wisconsin until there's ice. Even then I'll try open water on rivers for a while before switching to ice fishing. I probably go to about 70/30 hunting/fishing once we get midway through october
  5. It's legal here in Wisconsin but you have to use them in the body of water you catch them. They have to be legal size and they count towards your limit.
  6. Quite often I target pike. Once in a while catfish. Get out for the trout and salmon run and at least once a year for sturgeon

I use a 2/0 to 5/0 depending on the size of the gill. hook through the mid section. It's legal here but the gill counts towards your limit of panfish
  8. Nice pike. I used to fish without a net till one day had a fat 32 inch pike bite while fishing smallies. Had to call over another fisherman to paddle over and net it for me. I bought a net that night.
  9. I have the secret gill popmax. I like to cast and give two pops fairly quick then let it sit for about 30 seconds then a little twitch followed by a couple pops and walk it back
  10. This used to make me so mad when I was a kid fishing with my dad. We would go ice fishing and sit in the same exact spot all day and not have a bite. You gotta find the fish.
  11. Yep. I tend to get to exited and try setting the hook before they actually grab it. Just seeing it happen though is the best
  12. I love both fenwick and st. Croix. Like the feel and look of fenwick but I typically go with st croix just because fenwicks are made in china
  13. Think i might set mine up with a drop shot rig to try this weekend
  14. Only lure I had with a perfect record was a lunkerhunt kraken popper. Only perfect because on the first cast I hooked a nice smallmouth and my line broke. So it was 1 for 1
  15. I haven't tried mine yet but I heard good things. Curious what model yours is? I got a medium Power, extra fast action, 6'8" spinning rod
  16. I use suffix elite #10 mono for clear slow moving water. Heavy cover or fast current I use suffix 832 braided super line. I used all braid for a while mostly spiderwire but i didn't catch as many fish I think it's too visible in clear water. When I use a heavier braid I use a fluorocarbon leader now
  17. I just bought a bass x and haven't tried it yet but it looks and feels great. If you can get a good deal on the E6x I would go for it. Should be a next level rod than the bass x
  18. I bought a new St. Croix bass x rod and I'm trying to find a reel for it. I plan on using it as an all purpose bass fishing rod (top water, soft plastics, crank baits). I used to use shimano reels but I haven't like the feel of some of the newer ones so I've tried other brands on my newer rods like pflueger and Daiwa. I don't care for the feel of the pfleuger and it often wraps the line around the guide on the spool. I like my daiwa Laguna which is also cheaper. Looking for suggestions on what you guys use and like. I like it when I can find a brand I like and stick with it but I haven't found that for reels yet
