  3. 1/8 lb is 600 yards of #12, 1000 yards of #6. The green matches up best in clear water, the smoke in stained water, but the truth is, I fish both. Green matches two of my rods better, clear looks great on my pearl Chronarch and smoke makes my other rigs look more like weapons! It doesn't make any difference to the fish. 8-)

  5. This is a much better alternative, especially for big tubes. These can be used in conjunction with a Gamakatsu EWG Offset Worm Hook for a weedless presentation: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44436____SearchResults 8-)
  6. Wow! $50 Extreme comparable to a Calais? :
  7. Maybe, but that could be included in "dark". Oddly, my most productive color on the Tennessee River/ reservoirs has been (301) Green Pumpkin with purple and copper flakes: http://***/cgi-bin/order/301?4HorXJxo;;148 8-)

  11. It seems like more and more people are going to B/C stuff for techniques like this.... While I like better accuracy and power with a B/C, In my mind the shakey head, more than anything else (except maybe a tube) needs to be able to fall on a slack line I think it's just the opposite. More and more pros carry spinning tackle for a variety of finesse techniques. Spinning tackle is generally a better choice for light line. 8-)

  17. Normally 15-20%, but zero if you have a very bad experience. My criteria is putting us on fish and making every effort to find a way to catch them. An example of a bad experience is paying for a guide's fishing trip. That has only happened to me twice, but that is exactly two times too many. Regarding equipment, YOU are (usually) responsible for keeping it onboard! 8-)
  18. Wow! That seems pretty harsh. Although KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is a sponsor, I am not beholding to them or any others. So with that said, I strongly suggest trying the treatment. I find that KVD reduces memory, making all lines more manageable. This product also reduces backlash and makes them easier to untangle. Casting distance may be improved, but that feature is not noticeable to me. Technically, KVD Line & Lure Conditioner forms a molecular bond with the line. The product does not was off. Finally, this conditioner is water based and environmentally friendly. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior
  19. There's no downside, BPS still has the 1/8 and 1/4 lb spools on sale. If you don't like the line, throw it away or send it to me! http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchResults?searchOption=products&hvarSearchString=yo-zuri+hybrid&storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&CMID=TOP_SEARCH_GO&x=17&y=16 p.s. If you want to wait until we get to Kentucky lake, we'll spool up a couple of reels using my stash...I have a little extra... : 8-)
  20. My dedicated jerkbait rod is a St. Croix Avid AVC66MF which has a soft tip. The size and stiffness of the rod allows me to "work" jerkbaits and topwater very effectively. Once a strike occurs, the soft tip acts to cushion the fight which helps keep treble hooks in place. 8-)
  21. A "best value" is the Shimano CH50MG: http://www.***.com/descpageRLCSHIMANO-SHCSF50.html 8-)
  22. It's marketed as a "line conditioner" to reduce memory and allow for smoother casting. It's basically nothing more than a silicone spray which washes off over a short period of time. Next time try KVD Line & Lure Conditioner. 8-)
  23. It floats on surface tension, but not like a PFD. This has absolutely no impact on any lure presentation. Yo-Zuri Hybrid can be used for any fishing technique. 8-)

I fish both JJ's Magic and MegaStrike. Both seem effective in retaining fish when they bite. MegaStrike holds the advantage between these two scents because it is so user friendly.Try them both and see what you think.
  25. Lucky Craft Pointer 100 (Baby Bass) most of the time Rapala Husky Jerk HJ08 (Silver & Blue/Orange belly) some of the time X-Rap XR08 (Glass Ghost) when the fish are very active Suspending jerkbaits should be fished with some combination of a jerk-jerk-pause. The pause should be on slack line so that the lure is not pulled forward. Sometimes the pause is short, sometimes long, but always complete. Rapala calls their X-Rap a "slash bait". It is generally fished fast, usually without any pause. This lure imitates a frenzied fish trying to escape, other jerkbaits are more subtle. 8-)
