  1. In this part of the country, Kentucky Bass are trash fish. We catch a lot, but I don't know a single person that actually fishes for them. I release them, but I am not opposed to killing every single one. When my partner and I have "meat hunters" aboard., we keep all legal bass. :
  2. When you bring up the space for tying in a post or response, it's just outside the box, upper right. "Check spelling" in blue. Hit to check, hit again to resume typing.
  3. I read all PMs I receive and respond to most as do the other Moderators. Although I have never reopened a thread, after review Glenn, on rare occasion, will open a few back up. So, there is a review process. p.s. I did not bring it up, I responded to Daniel My Brother. And back on topic, Guys who don't use clippers. My partner bites 17 lb XT when we are striper fishing and it hurts to watch! We both fish Yo-Zuri #6 for smallmouth and retie 25-30 times a day. Man, it drives me crazy!
  4. Carry them in the cab, butts on the passenger floor. This works fine, even with a passenger, he just needs to be careful getting in the truck. You definitely don't want them bouncing around in the bed. 8-)
  5. Spoons and 3/4 or 1 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Blade Spinnerbait, jigged. Maybe a small profile hair jig with a discrete trailer. Another would be a 3 1/2" tube with an inserted jig head twirling down through them. 8-)
  6. "respectful" is the key word. As long as we feel that is the case, threads are generally left open. An exception is redundancy, which sometimes results in closing, too. We also have a few topics that are simply old and stale. Does Senko vs everything come to mind? Anytime you feel like you have been shortchanged on a thread, send me a PM if you like. We are here to help, not hinder and member input is always welcome. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator p.s. Losing a lure on the first cast just frys me, too!
  7. I find the magnetic STX to be finicky. My solution has been to assign this reel to one job: fishing 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs + trailer. I've found the "sweet spot" for this specific application. Otherwise, you're just going to have to play with the thing. BTW, The vast majority of STX owners love their reels, seriously. 8-)
  8. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  9. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  10. I fish the Double Wide Beaver on a GMAN or Micro Munch Tackle 1/2 oz jig. The jig heads are "stand up" like a shakey head. Hook through the bait and re-hook near the back so that the bait stands up. No slippage, never lost (except for hang-ups) and rarely torn. This is a huge presentation. Definitely not a tournament rig. You probably won't catch a lot of fish, but the ones you do will be worth the wait! p.s. If you want to fish the Beaver naked, a Evolution Shak-E2 works great! 8-)

  12. CONGRATULATIONS! 8-)
  13. My "all-around" baitcaster is an Avid AVC66MF. 8-)
  14. Zebco 33 and a 5 1/2' - 6' Medium Power/ Fast Action rod. Now is the time to focus on catching fish and having fun, not messing with equipment. If fishing turns out to be his passion, the equipment will follow. 8-)
  15. I can't decide, but one of these: Avid AVC66MF Shimano Core #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid LC Pointer 128 (Baby Bass) G. Loomis GLX PR844C Stella 2500FB #6 Hybrid Ultra Sift GYCB Kreature St. Croix Legend Elite ES70MF Stella 2500FB #6 Ultra Soft GYCB Senko or Fat Ika G. Loomis GLX MBR844C Shimano CTE200GT #15 Hybrid 3/8 oz Evolution Jig/ Rage Tail Craw or GYCB Flappin' Hog 8-)
  16. Fish, story, pics...You got it going!
  17. I generally tie a Palomar Knot, but on bigger lures it can be cumbersome. This is another knot I tie: Pitzen, Sixteen Twenty and Ducan are three names for the same knot. http://video.aol.com/video-detail/pitzen-knot/2450558513/?icid=VIDURVHOV12 8-)
  18. We'll stay in the "RIGHT SIDE". My wife and her relatives live 12 billion light years beyond the wrong side.
  19. Hmm... Nothing to talk about...Stradic 2500, ICAST "Best In Class". 8-)
  20. Corporate math simplified: 1st quarter: One for you; one for you; one for them and two for me. 2nd quarter: One for you; one for you; one for them and three for me. 3rd quarter: One for you; one for you; none for them and four for me. 4th quarter: Now it's bonus time...All for ME! :
  21. You dog! Great work, exactly what the doctor ordered! 8-)
  22. Before going to soft plastics and jigs, start with "moving" baits like the guys have posted: jerkbaits, topwater, spinnerbait, and Rat-L-Trap type lures. I have been having some luck with the Swarming Hornet, too. I'm using a silver/ black Lake Fork Trophy Lures "Live Magic Shad" as the trailer. 8-)
  23. Are you picking up the girls on the way in or do we have to go get 'em?
  24. Welcome aboard! We fish much differently, but it's always interesting to me to hear how other guys roll. 8-)
  25. Nice fish and pic...GREAT comments, too! BTW...Live bait? <-- -- -- -- -- -- ;D ;D
