  1. I'm with Muddy. So what's going on? On this and a number of other threads everyone seems grouchy and in the mood to pick a fight. Hmm...me thinks... Cabin Fever at it's worst!
  2. ABSOLUTELTY! Go During the Spring Classic and plan to stay all day. Check the store schedule for demonstrations and seminars. The shopping is great and can take hours if you're not in a hurry. Since you have never been there, it's like a few hours at Disneyland! 8-)
  3. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  4. Wow! Not much love here...Pro bashing is not what we're about. I think your points have been made, let's move on. Goodnight Irene -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  5. Well, I'm sure everyone participating in this thread would like "the last word", but you're just going to have to go with what you already posted. Goodnight Irene -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global moderator
  6. I've met the owner and fished the bait. He claimed these were "the ultimate striper bait". My partner and I catch a few below Pickwick Dam, but never got a stike in more than an hour drifting these baitfish. Stripers will eat almost anything that swims. I would never consider those baits for bass fishing. BTW, If this guy knew anything about stripers, I mean anything, he wouldn't be posting those pitiful fish on a website! We sometimes use bait (skipjack) that big. :

  9. Too predictable? I didn't change much over the weekend. Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb test) Baitcasting gear: Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb test) 8-)
  10. Muddy, Man this story is heartwarming, congratulations! ;D ;D ;D
  11. I think people might be thinking about the Shad. Strikes are extremely violent and bass are often pulled from heavy cover. The craws may be made out the same material, but they are almost indestructible. 8-)
  12. Both have great action, but the Rage Tail is made of a stronger plastic and is more sturdy on the hook. I rarely lose one unless the jig is lost. Regardless of the fishing conditions, the rocks are always hungry! 8-)
  13. Kinda harsh advice...which I agree with 100%.
  14. The GLX series is well worth the money when sensitivity is the issue. By most counts, this is the industry standard and does stand head and shoulders above the rest. I think the best tests are soft plastics and jigs. For all other applications, the IMX is just fine. p.s. Two of my favorite rods are St. Croix EC70MHF and ES70MF. These rods are VERY close to GLX and were bought from Reed's during their clearance sale for a significant savings.I added this as a footnote to make the point: price counts! So, if you have the wallet, you will be very pleased with G. Looomis GLX series rods, but as others have said, there are "comparable" choices which are very good. 8-)
  15. I like mine, too. This rod is very well suited for "working" topwater lures and jerkbaits, but it can also be used for spinnerbaits and buzzbaits. 8-)
  16. Well, I don't give away stuff that doesn't work. Unless someone specifically wants lures to fix up, I wouldn't give those away either. If you wouldn't use it, throw it away. 8-)
  17. Generally, the focus is on structure and as Bill Dance stressed, water temperature. The green bass may be backed-up in the coves, but the smallmouth will be found relating to breaks, humps, bumps and flats, preferably in current. I expect the Kentucky Lake homies will have very specific comments, observations and suggestions as we approach D-Day. The weather, especially rainfall, will be the big variable and just like everywhere else this time of year, unpredictable! 8-)
  18. Yeah, right...What gauge steel is your rod? I don't have a rig set with 5 lbs drag. Maximum drag is meaningless. 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  20. CTE200GT Strong, smooth, silent and reliant. This is a reel that is virtually indestructible. 8-)
  21. Welcome aboard! Sounds like a lay-up: GYCB Senko, Fat Ika, Kreature or Kut-Tail. 8-)
  22. Post the question in the Simano section or just send it in for repair.
