Lefty Righty Reel confusion....
The bottom line is that there is some technical justification for right handed people to reel a baitcaster with their right hand. However, the market today offers left or right hand retrieve on most models. Buy what you feel most comfortable with. Here is a discussion from awhile ago: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1187794805 It seems this topic has come up nearly every week this year. So, if you run a search or look back through the last 20 pages, you'll find some in depth discussion. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator

Go to baits or rigs for pre-spawn
The website referenced above has no credibility: SMALLMOUTH BASS World Record: 10 lbs - 14 oz :-? Regarding lures for pre-spawn, choose your favorite lures. Everything works this time of year! 8-)

Record Rainbow
Here's the story which was told to me "first hand": The fish was a brood trout which was released into the White River and monitored. It stayed in a somewhat isolated pool. According to my witness, the Arkansas DNR shocked the area and retrieved the trout. Several days later the new World Record was landed on the banks of a new housing project on the Little Red River, which was financed by a developer and a number of notable politicians. Coincidence? Anyhow, that's the story. :

Ledgebuster Spinnerbaits
3/4 oz Single Willow Blade fished on deep structure. The technique is a long pull lifting the lure, then dropping on slack line...Repeat until you feel you are "out of the zone". I don't think the color is particularly important, but I use white with a silver blade and chartreuse with a gold blade. No trailer for me, but that's up to you. My rig is a St. Croix Legend Elite, EC70MHF, matched to a Shimano Calais 200 and spooled up #12 Yo-Zuri Hybrid. Strikes always come on the drop, so pay attention or you might have your gear ripped right out of your hands! 8-)

Record Rainbow
A little off topic, but still "trout"... I fish the White River where, rumor has it, this German Brown was caught and transported to the Red River: http://www.fishing-arkansas.com/byspecies/natural-state-trout.asp 8-)

What to do with "old" tackle?
Welcome aboard! We have lots of young anglers. yo-zuri hybrid question
#20 is very stiff and wiry, but more importantly, you cannot break it when you get hung-up. I don't think this would be a good choice for any casting. Maybe trolling for stripers, salmon or lake trout, but nothing involving cast and retrieve. 8-)

WHAT LINES: TYPE VS TECHNIQUE
I find this pretty interesting and it certainly addresses the question posed. However, I don't think it has to be that complicated: Power fishing = baitcaster = Yo-Zuri Hybrid #12 Finesse fishing = spinning tackle = Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 8-)

How To Use Reel Magic
No. Reel Magic is a silicone spray, nothing more. You can use it as a line conditioner or to clean and shine the OUTSIDE of your reel. This should NOT be used as a substitute for oil and grease. 8-)

Wow! After 5 you have to weigh them. I would guess 7 lbs. 8-)

Would you eat a pot bellied female bass full of eggs in the spring?
Has nothing to do with the bass. I would release it unless the fish were mortality wounded. 8-)

Rage Tail Anacondas
Pros: The 10" Ananconda is a big bass bait, moves a lot of water and offers a huge profile with exaggerated action. Cons: Numbers aren't good. I think the Anaconda scares off 1-2 lb tournament bass. I fished it late last summer and fall with excellent results, but I think this spring it will really shine when bass put on the feedbag! 8-)
