  1. Alabama, Birmington if you want to live in a small city. Close to some of the best largemouth and spot fisheries in the country; short drive to World Class smallmouth. Bassmaster's also picked Birmingham a few years ago as the "Bass Capitol of the World". 8-)

  4. Aren't you guys suppose to turn in confiscated contraband?
  5. Same here, but I sometimes start with a trailer. The added weight is sometimes an advantage for casting, but I have never noticed any difference in production. 8-)
  6. Silver & black is always a place to start, anywhere and everywhere. 8-)

Spend some time in the BassResource.com Library, "Fishing Articles" and "Tacklebox" at the top of the page. You will learn far more from reading those articles than bits and pieces on here. After doing a little homework, come back to the Forum and ask anything you want. We are all here to help, but you need a grasp of the basics to get to the next level. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  8. March 13 (Bloomberg) -- Exxon Mobil Corp.'s oil discovery off the coast of Brazil may hold enough crude to rival the nearby Tupi prospect as the Western Hemisphere's largest find in three decades. Exxon Mobil's Azulao-1 well tapped a reservoir that could contain 8 billion barrels of recoverable oil, said Luiz Lemos, a partner at TozziniFreire Advogados, a Brazilian law firm that represents foreign energy companies with projects in the South American nation. The size of the discovery will intensify interest in Brazil's offshore region among U.S., European and Chinese producers amid a dwindling supply of untapped oil basins outside the Persian Gulf and Russia, said Lemos, a former general counsel for a unit of Brazil's state oil company, Petroleo Brasileiro SA. “This is very huge,” Lemos said yesterday in a telephone interview from Rio de Janeiro. His firm's clients include Irving, Texas-based Exxon Mobil, Norway's StatoilHydro ASA and Devon Energy Corp. of Oklahoma City.
  9. Beautiful fish...Too bad he kept her. This is the only fish I would keep for a skin trophy: 😢
  10. My dedicated rod is a St. Croix Avid AC66MF (now AVC66MF). The rod is firm enough to work topwater and jerkbaits, but the tip is soft. 8-)
  11. Rage Tail Craws and chunks; NetBaits Baby Paca Craw; GYCB Flappin' Hog and Double Tail Grubs; Uncle Josh Pork Trailers. For small profiles, GYCB Fat Baby Craw. BTW, The Rage Tail Chunk is the head and claws of a crawdad, not a traditional "chunk". If you are just looking for one to try, this is the trailer I would buy. 8-)
  12. I think Micro and I have functionally similar equipment. My dedicated rod is an Avid AC66MF (now AVC66MF). The rod is firm enough to work topwater and jerkbaits, but the tip is soft. I also have a spinning rig to fish the Rapala X-Rap and for fishing at night: Fenwick Techna AV, AVS70MM/ Sustain 2500. 8-)
  13. Two new stores in the Memphis metro, both appeared to be very successful, both are closing.

  16. No towel, that's not necessary, but it might be more economical! When spooling, I spray some on every 10-15 cranks, moving the spool with my fingers to get "both sides". 8-)
  17. We had the same run in November, it's called a "Bear Trap". The stock market will be trashed until (1) Housing; (2) Employment; (3) Retail Sales and (4) Consumer Credit stabilize. We have a long way go and all the losses have not been disclosed. Credit cards will be the next shoe to drop. This entire run-up has been in the face of devastating economic releases. The claim is that the "news" is not as bad as expected, but it is still the worst that has EVER been recorded. The probability of the current WORLDWIDE recession becoming a depression have increased dramatically. The banking system may not be "bankrupt", but it is insolvent. The stock market is currently being driven by speculators, not investors. Todays 13% rise in GE stock still leaves "investors" with a loss of 47% on the year, more than 74% off the peak. Hide your money, the worst is yet to come.

  19. Great day! 8-)
  20. It's fine in both clear and stained water and I still have some on one rig. I just like the looks of green and smoke better on the reels! Really though, I don't think it makes much difference one way or the other. 8-)
