a question about spooling baitcasters
If you want to be precise, the capacity of the reel is known and the inches per crank (IPC) or per turn (IPT) is another known variable. Determine how much good line you want and calculate the turns need to have the proper filler. For example: 150 yards capacity = 100 yards of "good" and 50 yards of filler 50 X 36"= 1800 inches 1800 divided by 25 IPC = 72 cranks 8-)

A fundamental part of learning to fish jigs is the ability to feel the "normal" weight. Anything different is potentially a bite. So, to help develop this "feel", I suggest using one weight only. A universal size is 3/8 oz. On this size jig you can use a number of trailers, but the Paca Chunks will be just fine. If you insist upon being stubborn, the 3/8 oz. jig will work for your worm trailer, too. However, if you have done any of the reading I suggested to you, there few articles (as in none) that recommend using a worm for a jig trailer. :

1. Both Medium and Medium Heavy Power will work just fine, but for lighter weights the Medium Power will make casting much easier. 2. Fish big worms Texas rigged with a 1/4 ounce weight. Texpose or skin hook the barb. 3. For jigs, the NetBait Paca Chunks will be fine.

jig help
You have basically posted the same thread you currently have running a few lines down. So I'll post the same reply: Re: jig size Reply #6 - Yesterday at 07:04:28 fishin-boy, I have cleaned up the last two threads where guys have poked fun at you. We have a broad range of ages and skill sets among our members and personal abuse is unacceptable. That said, you need to spend some time reading articles in the BassResource.com Library, "Fishing Articles" and "Tacklebox" at the top of the page. Before participating in the Forum, you need a basic understanding of terms. Also, if you are really 14, you need to be paying more attention at school, especially in your English class. An occasional typing error is one thing, but your posts are an abomination of the written language. At the very least, use the "Check spelling" we provide before submitting your post. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator Rather than letting you continue to make yourself look like a fool and become the target of ridicule, future posts that do not meet minimum standards will be deleted. Don't Wait!
Super! I look forward to meeting you in person. Alpster can help coordinate some of the arrangements, I know we have several guys looking for a roommate and a number of people flying into Nashville. The best thing to do if you want to fish your own equipment is to mail it to the lodge. Check with the airline to compare costs. Otherwise, I have gear you can use and I'm sure we can round-up anything you might need. -Kent

Theories on Line and crankbaits
The term "copolymer" covers a lot of ground. Both Gamma and P-Line CXX are copolymers. Each have unique characteristics or something making them quite different. Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft is nearly as limp as braid. In the smaller diameters and with an application of KVD Line & Lure Conditioner, original formula Hybrid is equally manageable on spinning tackle. (The Ultra Soft has a higher percentage of nylon in the formula). Gamma is fine line and some Hybrid users have switched to that brand. The only negative is pricing, but it's juster higher, not outrageous. I'm sure you would find Gamma to be very user friendly, too. P-Line CXX is very popular here on the forum. I fished it exclusively for several years. The line is tough as nails, but the memory is atrocious, especially in cold weather. So, as usual, we're faced with trade-offs. 8-)

Let's talk Triple Fish Line
Nope, but Triton_Mike is sponsored by Triple Fish and I think that's all he fishes. He is very well respected and has a number of affiliations, including GYCB and Lucky Craft. I hold his advice in high regard. However, my experience with the lighter weights won't allow me to "give it another try".

Let's talk Triple Fish Line
I bought several filler spools of the fluorocarbon several years ago, #4 & #6. The #4 was easily broken by hand and therefore, unfishable. I never tried the #6, I threw it all away.

Sustain vs. Stradic FI is it really worth the extra money for me?
Go ahead and get the Sustain, you won't regret it. This is a fine reel, I just don't think it is much of a "step up", but you might like it more than me. 8-)

I have a Sustain and it is DEFINITELY NOT worth the extra money. 8-)

Theories on Line and crankbaits
Well, for $4.88 you can try Yo-Zuri Hybrid and see if you like it. Although I use #12 on my cranking rods, you should try the #10 to get your desired line diameter (.012" diameter, 16.5 lb test): http://www.yo-zuri.com/Products/Prodline/HybridLineChart.htm http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_10201217____SearchResults?ordProd=Y&CMID=TOP_selectitems#itemDetail 8-)

Shimano Core
10/10 By far my favorite reel. I have played with it on a number of rods and used it for every technique. In the end, I decided to keep the Core on my AVC66MF which I use an "all around" treble hook rod, for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. Most of the time, it's my dedicated jerkbait rig. At any rate, I love me some Core! ;D ;D
