Gman Jigs ?
"Eyes" are for fishermen, not fish. Even on hardpan, gravel or a rocky bottom the jig head is obscured. There is no advantage to having eyes painted or glued on this particular lure. p.s. I like painted heads and usually lose the jig before it wears off. I like matching paint just because it looks cool. However, I notice absolutely to difference in the performance of an unpainted jig head, none whats-so-ever. 8-)

$25 Oil?
As part of a comprehensive energy independence program, the development of our shale oil reserves should be top priority. From a purely economic perspective, oil is just another commodity whose price is very volatile. I maintain oil is a national security issue. We, the United States Government, should guarantee a price floor for oil derived from shale. In the grand scheme, I don't care if that is $65 or $100. Have we already forgotten what we went through just a few months ago?

Christmas exchange.
Just don't hook me up with Muddy. I gave him a Shimano and he is still fishing Floogers. I don't know what he would do with GYCB soft plastics, but it wouldn't be pretty! ;D ;D

Christmas exchange.
Okay, I'm in. If you draw my name, I would really prefer a BassCat rather than a Ranger. And I'm not particular as long as it's this one: http://www.basscat.com/baycat.html 8-)

Rage Anaconda Strikes New All-Time Heavyweight Record
I don't know about "unique" or "must have", but you might want to give them a try. The bait looks huge in the water and its action is superb. It was killer for me this summer. 8-)

Do You Eat Bass?
Back in the day, we ate just about everything we caught. I think we might be overdoing C&R. Most lakes and ponds would probably benefit from people keeping all their smaller fish. I just don't have any interest in it anymore. I don't care if people keep green bass, white bass and I hate Kentucky bass...but leave my pet brown bass alone! With regard to big bass, unless it's a state record, I'm for releasing the fish 100% of the time. In my neck of the woods, we have tons of "eatin' fish" and there is no limit on catfish, bream, buffalo or drum! White bass have a limit of 15, but I have no idea what you would do with that much trash! The best tablefare is crappie and sauger, both have generous limits. 8-)

Want/need a new baitcasting setup - help?
Welcome aboard! The Legend Elite is a tremendous series and is currently on sale at Reed's. For a great all-around treble hook rod, the EC66MF is my recommendation. I have the Avid AVC66MF that fits the niche you're trying to fill, but for a few extra bucks, picking up the Legend Elite is a no brainer! http://www.reedssports.com/Product/product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=8562 p.s. I'm a huge G. Loomis fan and The_Natural knows his stuff. You cannot go wrong with his recommendation either, the MBR is an exceptional series. 8-)

$25 Oil?
Most of the OPEC members have a significant interest in the health of the world economy. This does not come from kindness, but the reality of intertwined business interests. I do not think $3 gasoline would be in the best interest of the cartel, they need oil revenues and higher prices drive down demand. That said, I do expect OPEC to lower production quotas targeting a trading range of $60-$80 and vigorously defending a $40 floor. Until the world economy improves dramatically, we should enjoy lower prices. This however has nothing to do with our need for an aggressive energy policy which increases domestic production and reduces our dependence on foreign oil. Energy independence is a matter of national security and the key to long-term economic prosperity. 8-)

Plastic or wood crankbaits????
Simple question and your preference is just that, it can't be wrong or right. For me, I don't care, it's not even a consideration. I fish both and don't notice any significant differences. 8-)

$25 Oil?
Oil May Fall Below $25 a Barrel Next Year, Merrill Lynch Says 2008-12-04 13:31:24.231 GMT By Grant Smith Dec. 4 (Bloomberg) -- Crude oil may dip below $25 a barrel next year if the recession that's slashing fuel demand around the world spreads to China, Merrill Lynch & Co. said. Global oil demand will contract in 2009 as economic growth slows to its weakest since 1982, Merrill Lynch Commodity Strategist Francisco Blanch said in a report today. In October, when oil was around $100 a barrel, Merrill predicted that prices could drop to $50. Oil traded at $45.30 in New York today, the lowest since February 2005. A temporary drop below $25 a barrel is possible if the global recession extends to China and significant non-OPEC cuts are required, Blanch said. With demand vanishing across all key oil consuming regions, benchmark crude oil prices continue to plummet. Merrill reiterated its forecast from Nov. 26 that crude futures traded in New York will average $50 a barrel next year. Prices could find a trough at the end of the first quarter and undergo a modest recovery in the second half as economic activity strengthens, today's report said. We expect strong co-operation to emerge among the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries as prices slide below $50 a barrel, Blanch said. OPEC, producer of more than 40 percent of the world's crude, was still pumping about 1 million barrels a day more than its official target of 27.3 million barrels a day last month, according to a Bloomberg survey. Producers in Canada may shutter nearly 800,000 barrels a day if prices decline below $35 a barrel, Blanch added. Oil is currently trading at $45.78. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

which one of these 2 rods would use for a designated smallmouth rod
Your choices are too light for me. My designated smallmouth rod is a G. Loomis GLX PR844S, live bait and "moving" soft plastics (GYCB 5" Single Tail Grubs, Kreature and Silver Buddy). My designated rod for other soft plastics is a St. Croix Legend Elite, ES70MF. These are currently on sale at Reed's Family Outdoors. (http://www.reedssports.com/Category/main.taf?cat=1754) Both rods are matched up with Stella 2500FB reels and #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft. 8-)

Hook for Anaconda
Okay then, You da MAN! I really like this bait, so if you haven't tried it yet, give it a shot. There are many ways to fish the Anaconda, but my success has come from fishing the bait just like any other big worm: slow, lifting it off the bottom, falling on slack line and letting the bait sit for at least thirty seconds between movements. I have caught a few 3s and 4s, but most of the bass I have caught on the Anaconda have been pigs. 8-)

Soft Plastics
Senko77 is a very good fisherman, follow his advice and I'm sure you will get the feel for soft plastics and catch some fish. Here is a another suggestion to get you started: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)

Spend some time reading articles in the BassResource Library, particularly "Fishing Articles" and "Tacklebox" at the top of the page. We have everything you could possibly need and links to more! You will learn much more reading through the articles than from asking questions on the Forum. Do a little research and then ask questions. We have members that are always willing to help. 8-)
