  1. Neither are "more reliable" and line capacity is never an issue for bass fishing. I find that a low profile is more comfortable for "active" techniques (jerkbaits, topwater, buzzbaits, spinnerbaits). I like round reels for jigs, big soft plastics, and drifting live bait. However, I personally prefer spinning tackle for some light to medium weight presentations (soft plastics and minnows). 8-)
  2. The Giant's are simply amazing. Their road to last year's Super Bowl ranks right up there with the Joe Willie beating the Colts, highly improbable. So, I agree and stand corrected, the Giants are the team to beat.
  3. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  4. Well, the actual cost is difficult to nail down, but the checkbook is wide open! The biggest issue regarding government ownership or partial nationalization is leaving current management and the Board of Directors in place. Obviously, they have not provided the leadership, guidance or oversight needed under their charge. As we move forward, the next big hurdle is the auto industry, but financials are not out of the woods. We still don't know "what's behind the curtain".
  5. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  6. #1 tubes #2 grubs #3 hair jigs #4 Silver Buddy Sometimes topwater and jerkbaits. I will fish a Ledgebuster, too. Any other thoughts on a big river? 8-)
  7. Well now, suprisingly, Micro may regain some credibility. I expected CITI Group to be nationalized, not bailed out with management intact. Over the weekend or early this morning, the Feds agreed to inject 326 BILLION dollars into this insolvent institution and announced their intention to allocate 7.6 TRILLION dollars in combined relief! I don't think that includes the automobile companies, but what's a few trillion among friends? So, although the economy still teeters on depression, 7.6 trillion dollars may support a DJIA above 7000. We are currently just 37 points BELOW Micro's 8500 "rock bottom". Later today or tomorrow we may bump our heads breaking through the floor! Speculators should rejoice, investors run and hide. :
  8. Hey paul.! Great story and pics...WOO-HOO!
  9. I think you guys must keep this thread alive just to drive the Shimano Posse crazy!
  10. I have five St. Croix, three Avids and two Legend Elite. They are fine rods, but I still prefer G.Loomis. That said, for what you are looking for in an "all-around" rod, the Avid AVS68MXF or AVS70MF would be my suggestions. On the other hand, both the SJR784S and the SJR844S are standards in the IMX series. There is nothing not to like, other than perhaps, the price! 8-)
  11. Well, my Tigers didn't do well against 'em last year, but maybe, third time's the charm! Congratulations, Sooner fans. I can't root for you guys against Mizzou, but I'll be with you come bowl time. Alabama vs. Oklahoma for the National Championship? Go Big XII 8-)
  12. Anything can happen, but getting squashed by Oakland in your own house is pitiful! 31-10 doesn't tell the whole story, it wasn't that close! 8-)
  13. ** MODERATOR NOTE ** Man, it didn't take long for this thread to get off track... Keep it clean or keep it to yourself. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  14. Gamakatsu, X-Point, Owner, VMC and Mustad all make good hooks. Eagle Claw is not it the same class. 8-)
  15. Titans took a beating yesterday, but they are still the team to beat. Actually, not taking an unbeaten season into the playoffs is probably a good thing. We still have some great match-ups left in the regular season. Yep, it's fun riding on this bandwagon! 8-)
  16. ...is a joke! I love me some Broncos, but getting beat by the Raiders and still holding on to first place in the division speaks volumes. >
  17. Sorry dude... This is the best advice and the only way you'll cure of the problem.
  18. Nice fish. The 5-2 is a fatty! ;D ;D
  19. Same as summer...My favorite is the GYCB Flappin' Hog, the NetBaits Baby Paca Craw is a close second. 8-)
  20. I'm not sure they're worth the money, but the are beautiful and effective. If you really care about price, the Chug Bug is all you really "need". 8-)
  21. Good luck! Watch out for the "Will Kill Ya", it can make anyone crazy! For a non-drinker, you won't know what hit you until the next morning when you're sleeping next to porclain. Have fun! -Kent
  22. Today's market is totally irrational. I don't know when the best time to buy will be, but if I'm pressed, I'll pick 7000. When you re-enter, pick a broad based fund. 8-)
  23. No. Maybe another at 20,000. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  24. The original is the Gitzit (get's it done!). The lure was invented in Arkansas, long before gobies invaded the Great Lakes. The Gitzit was designed as a "do nothing" lure: cast out, light up a smoke and drink a beer! 8-)
