  1. ** MODERATOR NOTE ** Please post questions and suggestions in the "Tacklemaking" section. This thread is intended as a heads-up to get you over there. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator
  2. OPEC has scheduled another "Emergency Meeting" for next week. I expect them to cut production quotas again in a desperate attempt to defend $50 oil. I doubt we will see a break through $40, at least in the short-term. However, demand for gasoline is highly correlated with economic activity. If the world economy continues to deteriorate substantially, there really is no bottom for oil.
  3. Yes, and sometimes their eyes are bigger than their mouths! Over the years I have "unstuck" a number of floating pairs, catfish stuck in a bass' mouth. Oddly, with the fish I have saved, every one was able to swim away and appeared to be fine. 8-)
  4. Reaction Innovation's Double Wide Beaver. Quick story: Last summer while waiting on friends to show up, I was fishing a very active launch ramp with an entire tournament coming in. Apparantly the day had been slow, but as luck would have it, I hooked up with a 6 1/2 lb largemouth which jumped several times. By the time I caught, weighed and released the fish, I was surrounded by at least fifty guys! Lure: 1/2 oz black Micro Munch Tackle jig/ blue Double Wide. 8-)
  5. This is a serious reply, I'm not putting you down: If you can't tell the difference, you should not spend the extra coin, but some of us can. My most expensive combination is my most sensitive and is used almost exclusively to fish live bait. Since "fishing live bait requires no skill," I suspect many would find that hard to believe, but I'm also fishing for the next World Record smallmouth, seriously! 8-)
  6. My #1 trailer is the GYCB Flappin' Hog. The NetBaits Baby Paca Craws are a close second. 8-)
  7. We have several "secret sections" for Moderators plus "Young Anglers" (18 and under). These do not appear on your screen unless we are experiencing a sytems error. -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator

  9. Well, the sad part is that a lot of "regular working people" have been doing the right thing by saving, relying on professional management to diversify their investments and simply build for retirement. I find it repulsive for these people to have been duped. Losing half your lifetime savings in a year is unexceptable. I have so much empathy for the situation, but it will not be resolved. Put your money into a savings account and ride out the storm. In my personal and professional opinion, things are going to get much worse. >
  10. Well, like a lot of things...it depends. On the Tennnessee River our fish like loud country music, bass boats with big motors and huge commercial barges. At my local.ponds they like a big splash, a very big splash. I don't actually fish anywhere that "quiet" is important. 8-)
  11. Some people claim there is a lot of support at 7000 on the DOW, but 5000 is possible. Most people already know that the auto industry is insolvent, but the actual filing for bankcruptcy is probably worth an across the board 10% drop in the indexes. It's pretty easy to get down to 7000 from here.
  12. Currently $52.97 and looks like we can fall much further. I doubt we break $40, but mid-forties is a real possibility. 8-)

  14. Man, I would need a couple of whiskey breaks to drink that much Heineken! Seriously though, that's a great looking tree. 8-)

  20. Oops! Coming from you, that would be a very important question! My suggestion was for "normal" trout, less than 10 lbs. :
  21. No problemo. I was using some #4, too, but no more for smallmouth! I'll still might fish the smaller diameter for trout on the White River, but I want a little margin for error on the Tennessee. 8-)
  22. Here is the warranty: http://www.fenwickfishing.com/warranty.php The most common need for warranteed service, accidental breakage, is specifically denied.
