  1. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  2. How 'bout this: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,446686,00.html 8-)
  3. Over the years my three top producing lures have been soft plastics: GYCB Senko GYCB Fat Ika Tube (Mizmo Grandes or Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo) Although I fish all three lures with the same movement, the profile and action are different. On a given day, one of these baits significantly outperforms the other two. 8-)
  4. Although he was the youngest pro to win AOY at age 24, it was his second year as a professional fisherman on tour. http://espn.go.com/outdoors/gad/profile/vandam.html 8-)
  5. Both, but you will lose a lot of grubs or anything else you're fishing on the bottom with an exposed hook. You might try a tube, T-rigged, weedless. You will still hang-up, but not as much. Topwater suggestions: Sammy, Spook, Chug Bug, Smithwick Floating Rogue and Floating Rapala. I think the Rapala X-Rap or Husky Jerk are other excellent choices, but you will probably lose them to the creek. 8-)
  6. Focus on current breaks, transition, boulders, ledges and holes. Fish cross-stream or up-stream, bringing your lure to you with the current. 8-)
  7. Nice fish, but it looks twice as big in the picture! Look at the shape and fat belly compared to this fish: http://www.southeasternoutdoors.com/outdoors/fishing/articles/smallmouth-world-record-controversy-hayes.html Yours is a fine smallmouth. 8-)
  8. Tell us about the smallmouth in your avatar. Man, that's one of the best pics I have ever seen! 8-)
  9. Well, I think that's just personal preference, I'm completely opposite. I'd rather catch one 8 lb fish than a boatload of "tournament bass". 8-)
  10. Location trumps everything else...75% of success is finding where the bass are, then lure selection and presentation come into play. The wrong lure in the right place will (usually) produce a few bites; the right lure at the wrong location is a losing proposition. 8-)
  11. Hmm...I haven't actually seen a political add, but I'll take your word for it. Glenn may want to address this more specifically, but the general answer is that we have an arrangement with Google and don't directly control their advertising mix.
  12. Isda other guides's clients! 8-)
  13. Beautiful! 8-)
  14. The Bagley B2 is the only lure in this group that was instrumental in winning the Bassmasters Classic: http://sports.espn.go.com/outdoors/tournaments/classic/columns/story?columnist=tucker_tim&page=bass_col_tourney_trail_040803 8-)
  15. Norman Fat Boy Bomber Square A Bagley B2 8-)
  16. Great post, nice pics! 8-)
  17. Oil is opening at $65.93. Local posted prices in the Memphis area range from $1.99 to $2.29, $2.12 appears to be "typical". Yesterday, with a Schnucks discount, I topped-off my daughter's car for $15, $1.24 per gallon! 8-)
  18. Don't buy a year's worth of line unless you are going to use it. Get smaller spools and try a few different brands before making up your mind. Although I recommend Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft, I'm currently experimenting with P-Line CX Premium and Gamma copolymer on a couple of rigs. So far, so good! 8-)
  19. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  20. Well, same topic, but a little twist: Fish a jig exclusively for awhile. Maybe not right now, but whenever you have a good soft plastics bite going. Jigs are an exact substitue for soft plastics: same structure and cover, depth, water clarity, etc. The difficult part, at least for me, was the bite. It took awhile (2 years) to get it right. I have hardly thrown soft plastics this year and that's my strong suit! Jig fishing is addictive. 8-)
  21. My favorite stories are successful smallmouth outings on the Great Lakes. All that water, potential danger and often, constant battering even on a "calm" day. The challenges these guys face sometimes seems overwhelming. 8-)
  22. OUTSTANDING! Great fish and excellent pics. 8-)
  23. Welcome aboard! This thread might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1143177139 8-)
  24. I think the point is, some work much better than others. Getting advice on a specific jig sifts through the trial and error we all face when fishing something new or different. 8-)
  25. Great post, beautiful fish and outstanding pics! Man, what a day! 8-)
