  1. Well, KVD and several other current anglers certainly have a technological edge which might get them near the top, but to put KVD in a class with the "All Time Best" is a stretch. You gotta' earn it baby! The MAN got it goin', but he ain"t got it done. :
  2. Well Brent, I didn't mean my post to be taken that way. I got to meet John Ashcroft who became Governor of Missouri, then Sentor Ashcroft and finally United States Attorney General. Governor Bond is now United States Senator Bond. Governor Reagan became arguably, the Greatest President of the United States, who ended the Cold War. I don't mean to imply that these men are friends of mine, I just had the privilege of meeting them. 8-)
  3. Step One: Spray all of you filler spools. Step two: Either run your line through a towel sprayed with KVD or spray it directly on the line every ten turns or so as you spool on new line. Step three: Let the conditioner dry, overnight is best. The "magic" is in the bonding. KVD Line & Lure Conditioner is not a coating, it is absorbed by the line. This becomes a molecular bond which is permanent. 8-)
  4. Sure, Stay on your side of the road! :
  5. In 1978 I ran for State Representative. At a fundraiser we had Missouri Attorney General John Ascroft, Missouri Governor Kit Bond and Governer Ronald Reagan as special guests. I keep a picture on my desk of the President and me shaking hands. 8-)
  6. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  7. I have mine mounted on a St. Croix Avid AC66MF. This is the new version: http://www.reedssports.com/Product/product.taf?_function=detail&_ID=13255 8-)
  8. Wow! That is cool. 8-)
  9. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  10. Carp aren't a "game fish" anywhere in this country that I'm aware of. In most (all) states fishernman are encouraged to "harvest" them all. Locally, a growing sport is shooting carp with arrows. There is no limit as to size or numbers and it's fairly common to kill several hundered at a time. Unfortunately, nothing seems to get rid of them.
  11. Tournament Fishing In The Future Dateline: Guntersville, Alabama May 1, 2108 DVD, All-World Super-Pro, weighed-in the winning total with a remarkable five fish limit of 123-11 lbs, including Big Bass and New State Record, 33-6. The hybrid Kali-Trout-Bass has added a new dynamic to the world of professional bass fishing. Stronger, tougher, smarter, that's how the men of the Google/MicroSoft/ EXXON tour describe them. GPS positioning has come a long ways from the days of simply locating lakes, depths and temperature. Spot-sighters now pinpoint individual bass, color coded for aggressiveness. With the GamaGoTo Bass-Seeker, Kali-Trout are isolated by the lure upon launch, targeting the upper lip with pin-point accuracy. Automatic retrievers calm the fish to guarantee nearly 100% landing success. Proper handling involves the innovative No-Touch-System pioneered by Lane Industries. Today's professional anglers have surpassed those forgotten names of yesteryear in every aspect of the sport. Clunn, Dance, Martin, Lindner...what did they contibute to today's trail? None of yesterday's "pros" could hope to compete with the Top Guns of 2108! It just keeps getting better! :
  12. DUDE! You're on a Cali roll! 8-)
  13. That's pretty cool! 8-)
  14. It's probably fine for your son, but I wouldn't be expecting a lot. Also, most rods that are just rated "Medium" refers to power. The action is pretty obvious, it's usually fast (stiff) or very slow (noodle). 8-)
  15. I suggest, no...STRONGLY RECOMMEND initially setting your drag with a scale when you have a new rig. I do this occasionally just because it's fun to play with! After you establish a "measured" drag setting, you can pull line and develop a "feel" which is a very close approximation. 25-30% of line breaking strength is what is recommended as long as that is within the suggested range of your rod. Although I understand that there is some variance with regard to spooling, I maintain my reels fully spooled by adding line rather than changing it out completely. I like two cast lengths and some margin so I never feel the knot. That's 80-100 yards of clean line. Now, the argument for using 80, 90 or 100% of your line's strength may appeal to your logic, but not to mine. I never get broken off by a fish and it drives me crazy when other people report that they do! If you need more breaking strength, use stronger line, but set your drag as I have suggested. 8-)
  16. Ultra Soft is significantly softer. However, if you apply KVD Line & Lure Conditioner to the Hybrid you have, it will soften the line and make it far more manageable. 8-)
  17. Great post hawg caller! I have a little different attitude than a lot of guys, but probably similar to hawg caller. I fish exclusively for big bass. Well...maybe not what Kalifornia guys consider big! Anyhow, the point I'm trying to make is that I expect to only catch a few fish and it doesn't bother me when I don't! I pay my dues and hang a goodun' every now and then. For me, that's what it's all about. 8-)
  18. Learn how to tie the Blood Knot: http://www.animatedknots.com/bloodknot/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com The easiest way to practice is with a thin cotton rope. This way you can see what you are doing. By clearly observing the procedure, it will surprise you how much easier knots are to learn. 8-) p.s. After you get a hang for tying the Blood Knot and develope a trust, you can cut the tag ends down to the bone. The knot will not fail!
  19. Welcome aboard! 8-)
  20. Move up to the 6" Senko so you won't catch so many bass. The 3-4 fish you catch on this bait will put a smile on your face and I don't think you will have any complaints. 8-)
  21. Well, as I recall you recently bought a G.Loomis GLX. I suspect you will find the Castaway disappointing. 8-)
  22. I voted "Deep Points", but more specifically, steeply sloping, rocky points surrounded by deeper water. 8-)
  23. Welcome aboard! 8-)
