Line breaking on baitcaster
A "professional overrun" will cause the fluorocarbon in the formula to "crack" which is a noticable kink in the line. This is a weak spot and must be replaced.

How important is color of a lure??
Although I agree with LBH that color is "generally" not important, there are times when it is critical. When color is important, it's usually an exact shade or accent. Over time, you will run into this on occasion. As a general rule I like "dark" or white/ silver (natural). My favorites are green, blue and black, regardless of the water clarity, local baitfish or time of day/ year. 8-)

For the Record
Actually, they are always higher. A decade or more ago, Saudi Arabia grudgingly revised "recoverable reserves" by 50%. The economics of deep drilling changes dramatically with oil over $100 per barrel. If the newly discover field in the northern plains proves real, 35 billion barrels levels the playing field. Oil shale is another option that EXXON abandoned in Colorado in the 80's. It seems this should come back into play. Regarding "alternative fuels", if someone can figure out ways to use coal more effeciently, with less polluting effects, we will never run out of energy!

How do you fish your Rat-L-Traps?
Same here. When the fish are active and focused on baitfish, the bite can be amazing, but when they are not, I would rather try something else than force the issue. I'm sure a variety of techniques are successful, depending on the situation, but there are other lures I would rather fish. If it ain't easy, I'll use something else. 8-)

Wear and Tear
Alright, before anyone else takes this seriously, let's award this "Silliest Thread Of The Year". Wolfy, You are not going to get any more serious replies, your hypothesis is baseless and the few replies that could have been helpful you have dismissed. So, let's move on... This thread is closed.

Thanks road warrior
Well, you are ahead of me! I'm glad you like the line. Try the KVD Line & Lure Conditioner on it and it will act like braid, NO memory. 8-)

Yozuri Ultrasoft Question
Jezz...Grow another layer of skin...it ain't that big a deal... On it's own, Yo-Zuri floats. Does it sink after it is submerged? Well, probably, the Titanic sunk, too. Lighten up! The "general topic" was asking if the line could be used for topwater. The answer is yes, it can be used. :

Can't believe I pulled this hawg in...
Nice fish! PB for 2008? ;D

Pay me!!
I think the new do is cool! LBH, you have a wonderful imagination. Putting your own, personal twist on the "Mohawk" is very clever. I'm surprised and think it looks great for this promotion. Good luck! 8-)

Shimano Spinning reels made in Malaysia?!
Buying reels from Cabela's bargin bin is a gamble. Many (most) of them are "returned" items. I suspect the Sustain you purchased was returned for a reason. :

Yozuri Ultrasoft Question
WRONG! Yo-Zuri Hybrid and Hybrid Ultra Soft both float, all sizes, all colors and in all water. They are not so buoyant that sinking baits are affected, but the line itself floats.

a bit confused about b/c versus spin
You are making this way too complicated: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1196114229 Good luck! 8-)

What kind of bass was it?
Hmm... Step 1: Boat fish before reaching for camera. I'm with alarcher, the fish just hadn't "colored-up" yet. 8-)

flipping/pitching rod suggestions?
Welcome aboard! If you are currently fishing G. Loomis, your $39 rod days are behind you. I know nothing about the rod, but I'm sure you won't like it! 8-)

Which reel to choose??
Hmm... Put the Core on the rod before you buy the CH50MG and then decide. "The girl's shoes complete the outfit." :

Lake Wilson
Wilson has a lot of cover (both vegetation and docks), extended flats and shallow coves. The lake is more noted for largemouth and spots, the smallmouth you hear about are generally found below the Wheeler Dam and below the Wilson Dam (Pickwick). If you plan to target smallmouth, fish the river portions (moving water) below one of these dams. 8-)

need a new reel
Hey! You know I have the STX, I'm now a Revo Divo! 8-) Back on topic... In the price range, I would suggest looking at the Revo STX, fullsize Shimano Chronarch CH100B, small frame CH50MG and the Shimano CTE200GT if you will consider a round reel. For your specific application, I would opt for the Shimano CTE200GT.

Rainwear?
Well, we're not really comparing apples to apples here. Frog Toggs will get you by for $60, but they won't last if you wear them alot. They tend to leak down the back and tear easily, particularly at the seams.
-
Rainwear?
The Guideware I am wearing in my avatar is uninsulated. With proper layering, the outfit is good for as cold as you are willing to fish! Long-johns underneath, hunting outfit over it. On the upside, the Guideware is comfortable at any temperature when it is raining. More specifically, 65-75 is top range. I have a generic BPS outfit that I carry in the summer (pants and jacket), but I think a $2 poncho is all you need when it's warm and a shower pops up. 8-)

need help with this spring
Generally, closest to the dam because the silt coming in through the creek settles as it moves through the lake/pond. The dam itself can be productive structure. That's probably a good place to start. Good luck! 8-)
