Well, my friend, if things there don't work out then decide FIRST, where you really want to live. In your field there is no shortage of "clients" around the country.
  2. Wow! Those are some fine fish!
  3. Yeah, I bet the next post will be recommending a Pflueger reel for those rods! : 8-)
  4. I had my Cowboy's hat on yesterday. I thought that after twelve years I might get to wear it twice this year! BTW, You guys still have the best cheerleaders in the league! : 8-)
  5. ;D ;D ;D WOW! ;D ;D ;D Geat fish, nice report and pics, too! 8-)
  6. Many of todays hooks are chemically sharpened, using a file can weaken or destroy the physical integrity of the hook point. Some hook points are "broad points" and cannot be sharpened without destroying the design: http://www.xpointhooks.com/
  7. To follow up on my last comments, I tie some other knots for fun. Losing a fish is NOT an issue. Like Toyko_Tony, my drag is set where I will not lose a fish, but the "breaking point" does come into play when we get hung-up. 8-)
  8. +1 Although some hooks can be sharpened, most of today's hooks should not be sharpened, they should be replaced.
  9. It can be difficult. The water is gin clear, deep and will still be cold. Generally, March in north central Arkansas is cold and wet. Your best bet is probably targeting Kentucky bass, deep on structure. With this approach you will still pick up a few largemouth, but fishing is tough.
  10. I like tying a variety of knots, especially for specific applications, but if you are just looking for a knot to use for terminal tackle, the Palomer Knot is quick, simple and secure: http://www.animatedknots.com/palomar/index.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
  11. I have been fishing the GYCB Flappin' Hog as a jig trailer. The Beast has a VERY similar profile.
  12. Tubes and worms can be fished the same or differently, the choices are unlimited! There are some differences in "action", but primarily it's "profile".
  13. I think there are better options. The Fat Ika's main attribute is the action on the fall and then again when it is lifted. As a "moving lure" I think the Kreature is a better choice. To "punch through" heavy cover, a 1/2-1 oz jig would be more appropriate. For me, the Fat Ika is not the right bait.
  14. Well, unless your team lost, this weekend's playoffs were some of the best football I've seen in years. Dallas seemed to be the only team that played "uninspired" ball and I don't understand how that can happen. Everyone else played their guts out, the winners and the losers. "On paper" I didn't think the Giants had much of a chance and San Diego was forced to play with one hand tied behind their back. There is no way the Chargers could have won that game, on paper! Packers? With the exception of Brett, they look awfully thin, but they find a way to win. Playing New York in the Frozen Tundra looks like a gimmie, but nothing can be taken for granted at this point. San Diego has "no chance" against the Patriots...Hold on! The Fat Lady isn't singing, yet. Good luck to all of you that still have a horse in the race. Forget about the odds, anyone can win at this level of play. I wish you all the best of luck! Go Broncos! : 8-)
  15. Yep, this show has potential. Getting through the "introduction" for those that were not "Terminator" fans might have been a little slow and confusing, but now that's out of the way and this show can rock! I'm already looking forward to tonight's episode. Oh! And the "good" terminator, woo-hoo!, she is soooooo HOT!
  16. So true. I have often made the point that ALL of your fishing can be done with one rod! On the otherhand, some of us like to collect technique specific equipment: THE perfect Power and Action for a certain application. It's not ALL about the CATCHING, it's also about the FISHING. Using the "exactly right" equipment is just more fun for some of us.
  17. Heavy? Wassup with that? I won't blow out of the boat, but I don't think "weight" comes into play when in use. This is for a boat, not toting around on the bank.
  18. Well, here in the Mid South we have different fishing seasons. Right now is PRIMETIME for smallmouth bass and sauger. In another month, brown trout spawn and a few weeks later it's crappie season, BIGTIME! Green bass are caught all year, but the best time is March through October. Same goes for striper and catfish. White bass are year around, but best in late May and June. Big bream in the late spring. So, fishing equipment sales is a year around business, the emphasis just changes.
  19. Hmm... I don't think Shimano or Diawa make them yet. : 8-)
  20. Here's the scoop: http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0851851/Ss/0851851/safe_230B43.jpg.html?path=gallery&path_key=0851851
  21. Seems like whenever I'm in a bar, all the guys think it's "the spawn", but all the ladies are "pre-spawn". :
  22. I know a lot of guys fish baitcasters at night, but I'm not one of them! As far as separating the rod & reel goes: No, it's not really "up for sale", I just kinda responded on a whim. When you described what you were looking for it just popped to mind. Although I never use the rig, I might! : If you can find the rod at a retailer, take a look at it, I think you will like everything about the stick. Fenwick is a favorite among some of our members. They are strong, sensitive and built with top-notch components. The Moderate Action on this particular model will allow you to cast a lure further than any other rod you probably own. You will be very surprized. http://www.fenwickfishing.com/prod.php?k=76555&sk=76555&p=PURAVS%2060LF%20%20(1093909) http://www.fenwickfishing.com/science_technology.php

  24. Which tastes better, an apple or an orange? Shimano has built a reputation for durability. Shimano's motto is: Smooth, strong, silent and reliant. I have found that they strive to deliver a high quality product at various pricing points to meet the expectations of their valued clients. Customer service is exceptional. 8-)
