Pickwick Report
A FLW event was held at Pickwick last year: http://flwserieseast.flwoutdoors.com/tournament.cfm?cid=11&tid=5638 The lake, especially the "river" portions below Wilson Dam and Pickwick Dam (technically Kentucky Lake) are know for trophy class smallmouth.

Small mouth in the pond
I have caught a couple on the Tennessee River, but they were small. They were black, too. The most notable meanmouth I am aware of was caught in a tournament at Table Rock Lake. There seems to be some confusion as to how these fish come into being. Although it is widely believed that the hybrid is a smallmouth/ Kentucky bass blend, research has confirmed a largemouth/ smallmouth mix. Still, the confusion persists and you will find conflicting reports on the internet.

Small mouth in the pond
On the Tennessee River smallmouth spawn late January through February. Largemouth don't spawn until April through May. It is HIGHLY unlikely that a smallmouth in a pond will successfully breed with largemouth bass. A "meanmouth" is VERY rare, even in large bodies of water.

Johnny Morris Signature Series Baitcast Reel
Well, last month this same marketing ploy was reported on some of the BPS rod sales. If this post on a reel switch-a-roo is true, that is just terrible on the part of BPS. Does anyone have more "proof" that this is happening? (I'm not challenging Pencil Pushers' post, just asking if anyone else knows something more about this).

What water temp do bass start spawning
;D ;D Definitely the right time of year to REALLY rub it in. 21 degrees here in Tennessee this morning and tonight's suppose to be colder!

Recomendations on a tackle box
I like this one. This is (obviously) smaller than the 370 series, but the size is more manageable for me: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_44423_100011010_100000000_100011000_100-11-10

Pickwick Report
Lighten up guys. I know we all hate seeing BIG bass kept, but it doesn't hurt a thing to keep some small or medium size fish. Regulations are made by professional wildlife experts on what it takes to maintain healthy bass populations. Give them some credit for a job well done and leave the guys that want to keep a few alone. Also, note that these fish were RELEASED. On the otherhand...most members of this Forum really don't want to see a "stringer" of bass. You might do everyone a favor by not posting those pics here, it just causes friction.

MO
I grew up in Missour "uh" (the Kansas City area). My wife is from Missour "ee" (the St. Louis area). We both graduated from THE University of Missour-RAH! (Missour-Rah, Missour-Rah, Missour-Rah, TIGERS!) These are the same Tigers who put a whoopin' on R-Kansas yesterday in the Cotton Bowl!

Shimano's new spinning reel line up opinions anyone?
I don't think that is the case at all. Direct drive is a feature previously found only in the Stella. This is one of the major upgrades incorporated into the new Stradic 2500FI. I think you will like this feature VERY much!
-
I am actually thinking about buying a Shimano reel.
If you can find the Stradic 2500FH for $80, that would be my choice. However, many members of the Possee PREFER the Symetre. I'm sure you will like either reel.

Need help picking my next rod
I don't recall whether it was Dick's or Sportman's Warehouse, but the close-out is probably just about complete. The deal at Reed's was sweet at first, but now it's not. Maybe someone will pop in with a tip on where to go now.

BAIT MONKEY IS CALLING ME! SHOULD I ANSWER?
The Shimano Stradic 2500FH is being replaced by the 2500FI. If you shop around a little, you might find an FH for around $80. I think this is the "best value" in the Shimano line-up.

BAIT MONKEY IS CALLING ME! SHOULD I ANSWER?
Our new sponsor, Delo's, has Shimano Citica and Curado's on sale: http://www.deloscustomtackleshack.com/reels/shimanocurado.html 8-)

Need help picking my next rod
You might find the Avids on sale. One of our members picked up a couple last week for $79! I would recommend either a AC68MXF or AC66MHF. Both of these rods will match up nicely with your Citica.

Frog Fishing - Would Flouro be ...
I have the same rod saddled with a Shimano Calais. I have matched this rig up with Yo-Zuri Hybrid #15. Hybrid has a little stretch, cannot be broken, is nearly as stealthy as fluorocarbon, and it floats! I might be just what you are looking for. 8-)

Another "I Need some help/opinions on reel selection" thread...
If you are trying to save some money, the Stradic 2500FH is being phased out and heavily discounted. You might find one for $80 or so. On the other hand, the new Stradic 2500FI incorporates many of the features previously available only in the Stella. I expect this reel to become the new standard for intermediate priced spinning reels. This is the reel I would recommend.

Questions about catfish
They are not poisonous, but the fins can jab you and they HURT! Catfish don't have teeth either. So, just be careful and you'll be fine. If you leave the fish in the net, you can remove your hook with pliers and you will not have to even touch the fish. If you keep the catfish, whack it on the head with a bat and kill it before you skin the fish.
