DA BEARS
Hmm... I already lost a few bucks. I bet Grossman wouldn't make the Bear's roster this year! He is the worst quaterback to ever play in a Super Bowl. I'm sure it will be his last.

knot for flurocarbon
WOW! I have been using the Palomar for so long, it seems like a GIANT step backwards to return to the improved clinch knot. I'm particularly disappointed reading the report regarding the San Diego Jam. It's fun and easy to tie, so I have been using it a little, too. Hmm...Time to revisit an old favorite. Back to the basics.

jigs and bank fishing ?
Last weekend I had a great deal of success fishing deep structure on long casts. To an outside observer it would appear that I was just casting into open water in the middle of the pond! I fished the jig off a drop, along a ledge and up a mud point. I continued to fish the lure back to within 25% of the cast, 10-15 yards from the bank. Generally the bass struck on transition, but I caught a few relatively close which may have followed the bait. I suggest continuing to fish your jig, or any lure for that matter, until you feel you are "out of the zone."

Another Twist On An Old Favorite
The bass were holding tight to structure as reference, but actively feeding.

When fish jump, I loose them - I need HELP!
Welcome aboard! You're going to loose a few fish using treble hook lures, there is no way around it.

roaming bass?
I run into this often at my local ponds and that is exactly what they are doing. They don't bite all the time, but I can assure you, they DO bite!

Favorite Suspending Jerk Bait?
The Pointers are my favorite, too. However, I also fish the Rapala Husky Jerk & X-Rap, as well as the Smithwick Rogue on occasion.

crawdad t-rig
Welcome aboard! I don't actually fish crawdads "naked". I fish them as jig trailers. The only one I fish is the GYCB Fat Baby Craw. http://***/cgi-bin/order/3FS-07

Money to spend!
I have a CTE200GT (round) matched up with my MBR844C. This rod a stout piece of equipment and the Chronarch CH100B would be my suggestion, but... I am in the process of having a rod built that I was going to have attached to a Chronarch, but after a review by the Bait Monkey, oops! I mean Raul, I have decided to go with the new Core 100MGFV.

2, to go!

Shiners for a fun day out
Well, George has addressed the major issues here. If you are "REALLY" interstested in protecting the reproductive process, outlaw ALL tournament fishing, pre-spawn and spawn. There is no evidence that any of this impacts the health or general population of big bass. Most fishermen can't catch big bass and those that can tend to be catch & release guys, anyhow. Regarding guides, they have a lot of lattitude when fishing any client. It's VERY unlikely that they will put anyone on their biggest bass if it's someone who intends on keeping the fish. George Welcome's guide service states up-front and quite clearly: CATCH & RELEASE ONLY!

Another Twist On An Old Favorite
Just got back from a two hour stint at a local pond. Decided to try something a little different due to murkey water. My favorite pond is low, hot and filled with suspended algea or plankton bloom. With low visibility, I decided to bulk up. I chose a 1/2 oz Micro Munch Tackle black jig matched up with a GYCB Kreature, black with blue flakes. Although the total weight is heavy, the Kreature's added bulk results in a surprisingly slow fall. When fishing this combination off the bottom, the bait combination appears to float before slowing falling back to the bottom when moved in short increments (6"-12"). The results were outstanding, especially given the condition of the water. Seven bass in two hours (11:00 - 1:00). One nice pig, two small bass and four, 3-4 lbs. The bite was subtle, but distinguishable; all feeding bites and strong, solid hook-ups. All of the bass were patrolling in deep water on a drop or on either side of a gradual sloping mud point. The presentation was a slow forward movement over scattered rocks and an extended pause attempting to imitate a crawdad.

Money to spend!
G.Loomis GLX MBR844C/ Shimano Chronach is a combination you can be proud of and will really enjoy, but unless you find "a deal" it's going to cost a little more than $500. I recommend that you go ahead and step it up and get that rig. You will be glad you did! 8-)
