  1. Nope. Maybe the wrong day, wrong time or wrong place, but you fished them EXACTLY the right way. I fish the Fat Ika just like a Senko. The difference is the profile and action of the bait, but the presentation is the same.
  2. Great success with a GYCB Kreature, skirt forward. The head (tail) stands up and the appendages wiggle much like a double tail grub. This combination has been particularly hot for me: 1/2 oz Micro Munch Jig (black) matched with the Kreature (black w/ blue flakes).
  3. ;D ;D ;D ;D OUTSTANDING! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  4. If boys have the option, they always prefer hunting when they are young. Shooting a gun is "big boy" stuff! 8-)
  5. Weird... Winners can be smartazzs, but what's with the attitude? His team won, why's he mad at a Mets fan?
  6. Glad you're back, it's been awhile.
  7. Hmm...I saw that bass somewhere else... : Nice bass.
  8. Some of us catch our largest fish in the middle of the day. : The best time for BIG bass is between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. 8-)
  9. No braid for me on any rig. Although I actually use #4, I recommend #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft. The line is not a pure fluorocarbon, but is nearly invisible in the water. I think this line is VERY sensitive and have never been broken off by a fish. This is my ONLY choice for soft plastics and live bait. When fishing hard baits on a baitcaster, I fish #12. With hard baits the line is not a factor from a visibility standpoint and I don't want to lose as many lures when I hang up.
  10. Well, I know you are a huge fan...That really sucks.
  11. The Moderators are suppose to help keep things on tract, not OFF TOPIC, but I just can't help myself... There are a lot of alternatives to braid. Why not experiment around with some other lines. Some guys, like me, have tried braid and moved on. Just a suggestion.
  12. 45-65 is a GREAT range, but we had some pretty good action this weekend on the Tennessee River with surface temperatures in the upper 70s.
  13. 14-1? Man, that's less likely than blowing a 7 1/2 game lead with 20 to go... :
  14. ;D ;D ;D ;D WOO-HOO! ;D ;D ;D ;D 8-)
  15. Sometimes I use a GYCB double tail grub, but usually I find "no trailer" is the best trailer.
  16. Reel faster and keep your rod up (10:00 - 12:00). The fish should fight the rod, it's your job to maintain pressure on the fish at all times. If a fish is not pulling drag, it should be moving your way. Constant pressure and NO SLACK is the key.
  17. Set your drag using a scale. Assuming your line's breaking strength is within the parameters of the rod's rating, set your drag at 25% - 30% of breaking strength. Lift your rod SLOWLY to be sure you are comfortable with that much weight on your rod. 12 lb test line = a drag setting of 3-4 lbs. Onced you have "measured" your drag, you will get a feel as to how it is set when pulling out line by hand, but initially I ALWAYS use a scale the first time I spool up a new rig. If set properly, you should NEVER adjust your drag. You may want to check it occasionally while fishing, but NEVER while fighting a fish... Did I mention, N-E-V-E-R!
  18. ;D ;D ;D ;D WOO-HOO! ;D ;D ;D ;D Well, after a long hiatis, I may put on my ball cap and become a baseball fan again. I haven't seen a game since the World Series strike, but maybe it's time to move on... Go Rockies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8-)
  19. These are some of the most underutilized lures on the market. I like the Silver Buddy, but as Catt mentioned, pick up a few Cordell Gay Blades, too! These blades are especially effective fishing for smallmouth, spots and white bass. A slow retreive NEAR the bottom is often the ticket. Bouncing off the bottom might be a good technique depending on the structure, but these lures hang-up quite easily and when they do, you don't usually get them back.
  20. Nice bass. Sometimes, especially when the bass are feeding predominately on minnows or shad, white is the ticket.
  21. Welcome aboard! Nice fish. It looks like a 3 lb largemouth to me, too.
  22. Jeff H, Well, I think Fish Chris is just making his point based on a little success with big bass and larger species. Even though he has not made it to 100 yet, he stills gets a little credit as our Big Bass Man. I for one haven't hooked-up with 18 lbs, but if that ever happens, I EXPECT to land the fish.
  23. For the grassy bottom you describe, the GYCB Kreature is the perfect bait: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1180909581
  24. For smallmouth bass: 3 1/2" Mizmo, Kent's Classic (squash green) For largemouth bass: Micro Munch Tackle El Gordo (black neon & roadkill); Mizmo 4" Bad Boy or 5 1/2" Grandes
  25. They are curious or hungry or both! It's something that happens everywhere. Similar size smallies school together and all the fish is a group will try to steal a meal from each other. If one gets off, don't be surprised if another hits your lure immediately.
