  1. My PR844S rolled the back window up on itself and crushed the blank twenty inches below the tip. :'( So, Monday I filled out the Xpeditor claim, online. My new rod arrived via FedX on Thursday. I didn't talk with anyone and the all-end cost was $50. This is one of many reasons I fish G.Loomis.
  2. Sloooooooooooooow. I prefer fishing deep structure for big fish only. I go out of my way to fish a number of techniques, but my "style" is slow and deep.
  3. Wow! That is terrible. I do have a suggestion. Even if you don't want a dog, you might consider one. It doesn't have to be big, the bark is what counts. We have a Corgi (Malcome) and he is the best pet we have ever had. He can't actually whoop-up on our cats, but no one that comes to our door knows that.
  4. No. I take advice from people I respect. When I fished your lures and had a problem with landing the fish, you told me to "LAND" the fish and quit playing around. Not only has that helped me with Mattlures swimbaits, but my jig fishing improved about 100%. Thank you. -Kent
  5. Well, they charge for a whole year when you can only fish six months! :
  6. Mattlures shared a secret a few months ago: Catch some bluegill and scale them, slime and all. Mix into petroleum jelly. No cooking necessary. If you want scent, add it to the jelly. Cooking is NOT necessary and adds NOTHING.
  7. We will have some follow-up, but let's start here: http://www.alapark.com/parks/park.cfm?parkid=5
  8. Hey DUKE! I'm looking forward to meeting THE QUEEN (Elaine) in MARCH! Make it happen! BTW, Watching Boston/ Cleveland BASEBALL! How 'bout them Rockies? See, we can all make adjustments... :
  9. Lightninrod has posted pics of some nice bass he caught on the Big Ika.
  10. Well, one criteria is that it never dries up completely. There needs to be some flow throughout the year and over time.
  11. Welcome aboard! I hope you hook-up with a fishing partner right away. Good luck!
  12. Certainly a better chance than Stanford beating USC!
  13. The water issues only involve dam release schedules. The Tennessee River is a commercial waterway which means a navigatable channel is always maintained. Even now, with rainfall totals 17" below normal, the reservoirs on this river are somewhat above "winter pool". The greatest risk is heavy rain resulting in the opening of the spillways. When the gates are open, the water turns to chocolate milk, but fortunately does not stay that way for long. This is a VERY controlled river/ reservoir system. Additionally, Logan Martin on the Coosa River is within reasonable driving distance. This is perhaps THE premier spotted bass lake in the country. This is a lake many may want to visit regardless of how the fishing or water conditions are at Guntersville.
  14. +1 8-) Especially, "When she gets bored, go home."
  15. Well, whether you buy that one or not, pick up a Cavitron 3/8 oz black on black. This buzzbait has a unique "chirping" sound that has been killin' 'em for me the last few weeks. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1190039737
  16. Welcome aboard! Start here: http://bassresource.com/beginner/beginner.html (You can also access this in the "Fishing Articles" section at the top of the page.) The best thing you can do on the water is to hire a guide for a day or two. Tell the guide that you are brand new so you can both decide if the outing is suitable for both of you. If not, talk with other guides, someone will be interested in working with a newbie. Here is another thread you may find helpful: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1182371999
  17. I fish Ultra Soft #4 & #6 on spinning tackle, #12 on baitcasting gear. I can't comment on the Daiwa reels, I only fish Shimano! :
  18. Tennessee Resident: $28 Combined Hunting & Fishing. Additional license/ fees for trout, ducks & geese, turkey and deer. Plus, Federal Stamps, of course! However, in the Mid South, most outdoorsmen fish a number of states in the region which requires out-of-state licenses in almost every case. There are a few, small overlapping juristdictions that allow limited reciprocity. Last year I had licenses in TN, KY, AL and AR.
  19. 8-) I have only caught one good smallie so far. Man, I am ready for Primetime!
  20. Wow! See how things work (don't work)? I didn't get it either. Burley...+1 8-) p.s We don't have any Rednecks in Tennessee.
  21. Good old fashioned hissy fit arguments. That or a case of 22LR, a spotlight and a trash dump. That aint going to happen here. You gotta find someplace else for that.

  23. Boil them with tongs so you don't get burned. They straighten out perfectly. 1 minute will do it.
  24. Welcome aboard!
