how big is this bass?
Welcome aboard! I would say either side of 4 lbs. Most "unweighed" 5-6 lb bass actually weigh around 3 lbs. It takes a "7-8 lb" unweighed bass to actually go 5 lbs. At any rate, nice fish!

Yo-Zuri Hybrid for dedicated plastics rig
I think Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 might be just what you are looking for. 8-)

Low memory mono?
Welcome aboard! I fish Yo-Zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft which is a bonded fluorocarbon/ nylon coploymer. In use this line has virtually no memory. This line is highly abrassion resistant, low stretch, impervious to water and UV light, matches well with water color and it floatss! For spinning tackle I recommend #6 (11.9 lb test); for baitcasting: #12 (19.5).

Closing of posts
Well, as an overview, threads are NOT closed arbitrarily perhaps with the exception of "Senko" threads. For a long time I think this forum could have been renamed SenkoResources.com. So, what generally happens, especially when things get a little slow, Mr. Senko or one of his look-alike competitors pops up and starts a fight. Glenn has compiled an extensive library for this site and created a special "Senko Section" which is a stickie in the top portion of the "Tackle" section. The long and short of it is this: Nearly everything that can be said about a Senko has been written and is available at BassResource.com. The back and forth bickering that ALWAYS developes as the A verses B vs. C threads move along has become borish and a distraction to the general commaradarie among members. Therefore, all comparative and most general Senko threads are going to be locked whenever they are seen by the Moderators or Administrator.

Swivels
Although I don't use swivels, I have had the pleasure of fishing with Bud. I assure you, swivels take nothing away from him and perhaps compliment his presentation.

Sometimes taking a break is a good thing
Hey Buddy! I know how excited you are, but DO NOT push it. those Florida bass will still be their waiting for you in another week or two. You have come to far to risk reinjury with an early start. Just be sure you're ready and ease back in, please! Oops, I forgot...you already have a wife. Anyhow, be cool, be careful and be smart. 8-)

ST. Croix rods
St. Croix is introducing an upgrade to their Avid series. Several guys on the Forum have paid as little as $65 for a $150- $170 rod. I bought an Avid AC70MM last week for $109. These rods are THE BEST DEAL ON THE PLANET right now! If you are looking for a +/- $150 rod, this is the series to buy. This is EXACTLY where "high end" begins.

Look for Jig Skirt Layers
Post this in "Tacklemaking" too, there might be someone over there that didn't see the post in this section.

Some questions about smallies
Bass are territorial. When a lure invades their space, they may strike. Bass are oportunistic. If a bait passes near them, sometimes they strike. They do not have to be feeding or on a bite, but sometimes they just attack anything that is in their vicinity.

Somebody's Missing
He was banned "for cause", but I (we) will not go into the details. This should be considered a "Private Matter" and we all should move on.

Somebody's Missing
No glitch. BassHunter69 is no longer a member of this Forum.

St. Louis Lambs
Man, if you guys are going to fight for a spot at the bottom of the barrel, you have a lot of competition in the NFL this year. he Ain'ts will give you all a run! The Lambs are a contender for "Worst of the Worst" but Miami, K.C., Philly, Atlanta and San Diego have a shot. Still, my money would be on New Orleans.

Gary Yamamoto Baby Craw - Good Deal
I have never actually fished the "Baby Craw" but I an a HUGE fan of the Fat Baby Craw. I don't know if there is really that much difference between the two. I'll be interested to hear your report. Good luck!

Where's JT Bagwell?
Yeah, we were holding out collective breath when you were in 2nd place going into the final day of competition a couple of weeks ago. You have some fans around here! 8-)

And the winner is.................................
Well, my friend, you have made the award and that's cool. Why don't we conclude this thread with your last post? Avid has spoken! 8-)

And the winner is.................................
Okay, guys... Thanks for all your input and suggestions, but please remember this is a "Fishing Forum". "Everything Else" is for everything else, but it's not a pulpit and we want to keep topics "within bounds." So, what does that mean? It means not all topics or comments are "good" or "bad", black or white. When dealing in the "gray area" the Administrator and Moderators make the call and that will not always make everyone happy. It's not personal and there is no agenda, but when in doubt, we will probably throw it out. There are plenty of options on the internet that anyone can access, but they are NOT necessarily going to be a part of this Forum. I'm not closing this thread down right now, but the trendline is heading south.

Some questions about smallies
Sounds like a great spot. Try a variety of lures fished parallel to the bank, but along the drop (in deeper water). My #1 suggestion would be a Fat Ika.

line and knot strength
Very interesting. I have never had an issue with a Polamer Knot, but as you have noted, the KEY is tying the knot properly: "If it ain't perfect, I ain't good enough."
