  2. Dude! Grab a clue before making a completely assine comment...This was the FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY of college football that a Division II team has beat a TOP TEN RANKED DIVISION 1A TEAM! This is ... THE BIGGEST UPSET IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY, period...
  3. I generally prefer Medium Power. This rating is powerful enough for fighting big fish and makes smaller fish more fun to catch. Light and medium weight lures cast better with this power rating, too. Soft plastics and jigs REQUIRE a rod with Fast Action and a firm tip. Although this is not ideal for most treble hook lures, you can still fish everything with a Fast Action rod. For example, many guys PREFER fast action for topwater and jerkbaits. The same argument is made for buzzbzits and spinnerbaits. Personal preference is the overriding consideration. So, I recommend Medium Power/Fast Action and a firm tip for an "all-around" rod.
  4. This the way I would go also. I might want an SJR843 GLX (7 footer) but I like longer rods for plastics and deep water. Ronnie I'm on board with Fish Tank, Raul and Alpster, but rather than saving some money on the reels being phased out, I would go with one of the new models Shimano is introducing. I suspect the reels are SIGNIFICANT upgrades. http://fish.shimano.com/catalog/fish/products/group_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302053095&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181270&bmUID=1188648471037

  15. Yeah... I made The Mook an honorary member last spring and he gave the reel to his lady friend... You can lead a horse to water, but... :
  16. For heavy vegetation and "slop" I would go with 30/8 braid on your spinning reel. Cabelas is offering a $10 rebate on Suffix right now: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat600395&id=0036973120806a&navCount=2&podId=0036973&parentId=cat600395&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat600395&hasJS=true&hasJS=true
  17. ** That's it guys. Micropterus got the last word. Back on topic or take it somewhere else ** -Kent a.k.a. roadwarrior Global Moderator p.s. Thread will continue, but any other posts off topic (by anyone) will be DELETED.
  18. I don't think your going to "get a pretty good one for $25" but a rod with a firm tip will help a great deal.
  19. Never had a problem with them. I've broke about 5 loomis rods. I feel 4 of them were my fault and maybe the 5th. Dont worry about it. Topics like this just start some complaining. Fletchero's post Exactly what I think. High end anything for the most part needs more attention then low end. High end is usually cutting edge and made of more delicate parts and require more care and attention. Great summary. 8-)
  20. Now that's funny. Nice pics! 8-)
  21. Nice fish, nice pic. Congratulations! 8-)
  22. More than anything, it just takes time. The more you fish the easier it gets and you will soon develope a "feel" for the bite.
  23. Welcome aboard! I fish the tailwaters below Pickwick. Maybe we can get together for a trip this fall or winter.
  24. Here's the other side of the coin: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1186198349
