  1. Hmm... I guess I got lucky. I was born with two hands and learned to use them both. :
  2. I fish the 3/4 oz Ledgebuster Single Willow Bade...It's THE BOMB!
  3. Dan, That is a beautiful bass and some great pics. Keep 'em coming! 8-)
  4. Or you could fish a floating Rogue and a variety of suspending jerkbaits. If I'm fishing topwater, I want the lure on top of the water!
  5. No. Leave the line you have on the reel. 30 lb braid is way too strong for that rig. If you ever needed to break the line, you couldn't.
  6. Woo-hoo! Me like...8-)
  7. The rod is Medium Light Power and probably fast action. If the tip is firm, you can fish soft plastics, jigs and light lures.
  8. Hmm... Unless that's your first smallmouth or PB, it ain't nothin' special. Why do you question a guy claiming a 2 lb bass?
  9. Although every technique can be employeed on either type of equipment, I prefer baitcasting gear for "power fishing" and fast retrieve lures. For all finesse fishing, spinning gear is my choice.
  10. 3 lbs is where I think bass get more interesting. Body mass (water resistance) might be part of it, but they also seem to be stronger and have greater endurance. Fishing on Lake Erie is bound to produce a 5+ sooner or later. I'm looking forward to your post when you boat that one! 8-)
  11. Dude! I've seen pike and I've seen your handsome face before, too. Where's the picture of the pretty girl? :
  12. Hey Raul, Next time you're shaving and face-to-face with The Bait Monkey, tell Him to lay off for the next few months so you can save a few pesos and meet your compadres up north at the 3rd Annual BassResource.com outing. Tell him, He can come along and bring all his VERY SPECIAL toys. Over the long-run this would be very good for The Monkey, like (almost) free advertising! I would sure like to meet Him, aaaaa..., I mean you with your "matte red" Pixy.
  13. I haven't seen one in person yet, but I'm sure it's a fine reel. However, it's VERY disappointing to me that Shimano has raised their prices so dramatically on all their "New for 2007" reels. $700 for the new Stella 2500FC, $159 for the Stradic and $350 for the Core. I hope The Reel Mechanic can keep my "old junk" working for a few more years! :
  14. Hmm... If I only had one rod, that's the one! 8-) Since I have a couple of others : I use mine primarily for fishing jigs, small swimbaits and as my main striper rod.
  15. Hey Nick! Man I remember that whole episode. Which circuit are you fishing these days?
  16. Craig is a member of BassResource.com and has wrritten several articles for the Forum. Contact Craig at Micro Munch Tackle: www.micromunchtackle.com BTW, Welcome aboard! 8-)
  17. Interesting point and one of the reasons I prefer jerkbaits! Crankbaits are often "slapped" which can result in a hook-up, but often on the outside of the fish's mouth. This is one of the reasons they come unbuttoned. With jerkbaits, generally, the hit is a "feeding" strike. Most of the time, the lure is taken into the mouth. Still, with any hard bait, the fish has some leverage to throw the lure. It's just going to happen sometimes.
  18. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Good luck, buddy! 8-)
  19. I fish "The Rocks From Hell" on the Tennessee River. I think Ultra Soft is just as tough as XT with regard to abrasion resistance. In use, this line has virtually NO MEMORY. That means there is some coiling from being stored on the reel, but after a short time fishing, this disappears.
  20. This thread migt help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546 Generally speaking, Moderated Action or at least a rod with a soft tip is recommended for treble hook lures (crankbaits, topwater and jerkbaits).
  21. Hi

    Welcome aboard!
  22. Now, that's what I'd call "Shootin' fish in a barrel." Too cool. 8-)
  23. This one? http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1141187546
