  1. "Drag system, rotar wobble, bail roller, drive shaft gears, frame materials and workmanship are are superior as the price goes up. If you use your spinning reels for finesse bass fishing a reliable drag is critical if you catch bass or trout over 3 lbs using 6lb to 8 lb line. "
  2. Nothing special for me, nail clippers work just fine.
  3. If you just want one universal color it's Green Pumpkin. My second choice would be Alabama Craw.
  4. Stick Marsh/ Farm 13 imight be the premier largemouth lake in the country, but you need to be careful and stay in the lanes. Your best bet is to hire a guide for at least a day.
  5. Yea, I have a lot of colors and they all seem to work...sometimes! Pick your favorite and it will work just fine. Here are my specific suggestions: Watermelon/Red Flake, Green Pumpkin/Black Flake, Black/Blue Flake, PB&J, Okeechobee and Alabama Craw.
  6. Bluegill, crappie and white bass.
  7. Hmm... I fished Lake Fork during the spawn a few years ago. There were more than 1000 fisherman on the lake for the few days I was there and probably 10,000+ over an eight week period. Hundreds if not thousands were specifically there to target spawning bass. Glenn and Keri both caught their Personal Best in an area that had been fished by thousands around the time of our trip. I don't target spawning bass myself, but I don't believe there is ANY impact on the bass population. The same goes for those that legally keep fish. Those fish are my babies, my pets. I don't eat them, but I don't hold anything against those that do.
  8. Another rig or more would be technique specific, like an Alabama Rig, Jerkbait or deep cranking.
  9. No, never. I only buy lures, including jigs and spinnerbaits, built with high quality hooks. If they are not perfect they are returned for replacement. My jigs have a very short life expectancy, so this does not really come into play. With hard baits hook replacement is my choice.
  10. I don't know exactly what you mean. I am just agreeing that you NEED to where your vest, but I don;t think the color is all that important in most cases. Ocean, Great Lakes, the middle of any BIG water...Maybe. However, just wearing a PFD is probably enough.
  11. Allow the lure to hit bottom and slow roll the bait. It's really quite simple. Ideally you want to tick the bottom.
  12. You will like the Fogy. https://www.siebertoutdoors.com/Fogy_c20.htm
  13. We still have some weather to deal with, but my birds are singing and love is in the air. Crocus are in bloom and the daffodils have blooms forming. Next week my early garden may be in full bloom and the maple trees are in the beginning of leaf. It's big time striper season and VERY close to crappie. Bass are still slow, but that is about to change. Smallmouth should be hot, but the Tennessee River is near flooding which makes things difficult. I expect things to improve dramatically in the next few weeks. It's 70* today.
  14. G. Loomis and St. Croix
  15. The 893 is probably the most popular NRX http://www.gloomis.com/content/gloomis/northamerica/usconv/en/homepage/PDP.P-NRX_JIG_WORM_CASTING.html
  16. My #1 producer for the past several years is the Rage Blade (white)/ Structure Bug (white).
  17. Well, I suppose color comes into play at the margin, but I want camo to match my clothes. Even if I fall out I suspect I will be close to the boat if I am still floating.
  18. My #1 producer for the past several years is the Rage Blade (white)/ Structure Bug (white).
  19. Alabama Rig, T-rigged and jerkbaits
  20. I have a custom rod built by Mike at DVT...http://www.delawarevalleytackle.com/ However, my main rod is a G.Loomis GLX PR844S/ Stella 2500/ #6 Tatsu.
