Nice fish, great pic!

I'm interested in a big trip up north to target smallmouth. Which lake and when would you recommend we go? Also, please recommend a guide.

I am NOT recommending Memphis either. This is the World Headquarters for International Paper and my wife still has a couple of years left before we can escape. Maybe Savanna, GA or Charleston, SC. However, my wife wants to be close to the grand kids which means McKinney, TX in the Dallas metroplex.

I think we would need a guide. My brother has a big RV, but pulling a boat is out of the question.

I have never heard of the brand, but maybe other members can comment.

For centuries Russians forced people to live (or die) in Siberia. Why anyone would willing choose to live in Erie, PA, Buffalo, NY or anywhere up there is a mystery to me. I enjoy visiting and vacationing in the summer (Door County, WI), but I cannot imagine spending the winter there.

Hmm...That would require some mighty fine whisky to get me out in one of those tents.

I am going to use every class of lure I own and give away anything I don't fish this year. A few examples would include Jitterbugs, Spooks, Original Rapala and Devil's Horse. I also have a collection of smaller, light topwater and crankbaits that were bought new 5 or 10 years ago that may need a new home. Seemed like "a good idear" at the time.

Sissy...You should be out on the lake, I doubt there is much pressure this week!

We usually have a couple of weeks of winter and it's generally right around now. Temperature is currently 18* with a windchill ~ 4*. I think we might make it above freezing later today, but a stronger cold front arrives for New Year's Eve and a chance of snow.

I agree, the reel can handle a variety of techniques, perhaps excluding deep crankbaits and large swimbaits.
