Equipment is fine, but I prefer MF spinning tackle. These are are few baits I would recommend: Rage Menace, Rage Structure Bug, Rage Baby Craw, GYCB Kreature, Kut-Tail, BPS Tinder Tube (#71) and Megabass Dark Sleeper.

The reel is fine.

I don't fish a Rat-L-Trap anymore.

They say only 10% of the water holds fish. On a new lake it's hard getting through the 90% of nothingness. Bass are easy to catch, it's finding them is the hard part. I like fishing with a guide.

Unless you are targeting them for bait, they are a slimy nuisance.

Certainly a favorite catfish cut-bait and the smaller fish are excellent fished alive for striper.
