  4. I have been VERY impressed with the Pinnacle Perfecta DHC series rods. http://www.pinnaclefishing.com/shop/p-87-perfecta-dhc5.aspx#page=page-1
  5. Avid AVS68MXF/ Symetre 2500 FJ MSRP $180/ $100 With all the sales going on it should be fairly easy to buy this combination at or below your $250 threshold.
  6. That made no sense. You would think there would be some adjustment at halftime. Everyone knew going into the game that they HAD TO control the line of scrimmage. Missouri's game plan was flawed.

    Pretty clever, huh?
  11. I really didn't expect a shoot-out. I like the bowl system and it seems to me the best teams have risen to the top. Auburn beat both Bama and Missouri to win the SEC. The BCS finale will be great. Congrats to Michigan fans, too!
  12. Strikeback by MegaStrike http://www.megastrike.com/ Cosmic by Siebert Outdoors http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/index.php/cosmic-spinnerbait I replace all skirts with Lumaflex http://www.jobabylures.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=SKL I fish white, chartreuse or white/chartreuse
  13. I have a new Pinnacle combination that is ideal for pitching or flipping jigs and weighted soft plastics: DHC5-761CAMHFS http://www.pinnaclefishing.com/shop/p-119-perfecta-dhc5.aspx#page=page-1 Optimus XiHS http://www.pinnaclefishing.com/shop/p-139-optimus-xihs.aspx#page=page-1
  14. Chilli is on, beer is cold...Get'in ready to rumble! Woo-Hoo!
  15. It's a real dilemma for the top teams: Do you keep your first team at fever pitch so they stay sharp or rest them to keep players healthy? During the Elway Era Denver faced this issue nearly every season. What did the Patriots do when they looked like they were going to run the table?
  16. Yeah, once you pass "need", "want" gets expensive! I rationalize the situation by calling myself a "collector". If you buy into that, collecting fishing equipment is cheap compared to a lot of other hobbies.
  17. One other thought... I don't own any NRX, but my first one will be an 893. I have the BCS version paired with a CU 50E7 supertuned. This is another "favorite of favorities". The forest green on green is very complimentary, but I think one of your Core would look just fine! I fish most soft plastics, especially unweighted, on spinning tackle, but the BCR or NRX 893 is usually considered the ultimate baitcasting rod for these baits. Casting distance is remarkable and hook-sets are enhanced with this longer rod.
  18. Yep... "We didn't really lose, we just didn't score enough points and ran out of time."
  19. If you are looking for another suggestion, my favorite rig is a G.Loomis GLX MBR842C/ Core 50MG/ Tatsu #12. This has become my dedicated swim jig gear.
  20. Let the games begin! MU Tigers vs Auburn Tigers at 3:00 CST, then switching back and forth at 7:00. Rooting for Duke and Michigan State is a first for me! It probably feels stange for Bama fans, too. MIZZOU-RAH...MIZZOU-RAH...MIZZOU-RAH...RAH! RAH! RAH!
  21. That's true, but if you are looking for specific suggestions, these are what I use: Spinning: St. Croix LES70MF/ Stella 2500FE/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6/ Gamakatsu 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook (thin wire) Baitcasting: G.Loomis BCR893/ Curado 50E/ Tatsu #20/ Trokar 4/0 EWG
  22. Ugly? Try this, courtesy Fish Chris: Put the fish in your livewell, lid shut, for 10-15 minutes. The darkness will bring out whatever coloration the fish has. Some are better than others, but even "plain" fish have some stripes, almost always on the head.
  23. There may be some situations where "quiet & stealthy" come into play, but that is never the case on the Tennessee River. Our fish prefer loud country music, beer and tobacco!
