  1. I was out of the game for along time, then got back in 1997. I have since become a "collector" of sorts. Technique specific rigs don't necessarily catch more bass, but they make the "fishing" part more fun! My suggestion is to get rid of everything you don't really like or that you rarely use. Add gear one at a time and set the bar a little higher even if that means putting off a purchase. These are some specific examples: G.Loomis GLX MBR842C/ Core 50MG/ Tatsu #12. Probably my favorite set-up. I use this as a dedicated rig for small swimbaits and swim jigs. Another is dedicated to soft plastics: BCR893/ Curado 50E supertuned/ Tatsu #12. On the spinning tackle side for weightless baits: St. Croix LES70MF/ Stella 2500FE/ Tatsu #6.
  2. Nice fish, great pic!
  3. Trolling from the bank can be very effective, but you generally do not need to retrieve while you walk.

  5. Well, I can assure you we will all need to bring our rain suits.
  6. Coming up shortly...Promise!
  7. This one's over, so FOX switched to the Cowboy - Chargers game. Denver dominates. I'm concerned about December trying to decided how much time the starters play. Stay sharp or protect their health? We went through this in the Elway Era. I think Denver should stay "balls to the wall". Run the table and win the Super Bowl. Peyton has the opportunity to set new records for every single season quaterback statistic. He might eclipse the Broncos greatest player, Mr. John Elway! It's pretty cool than Big John is the GM.
  8. I never fish a Fat Ika with weight. The bait will fall away from you on its own if you rig it tetacles forward (4/0 Gamakatsu Offset Worm Hook). Weightless, the tentacles flutter up as the bait falls and are pushed back against the body when you move it forward. The Fat Ika REALLY looks alive!
  9. Who woulda thunk it? Today's rout against the Giants was impressive. Looking forward to their match-up with Denver.
  10. One and done. However, if you are just learning to use a baitcaster, start with all six brakes on and spool tension tight enough to just let the lure fall slowly. It won't be long until you move to four brakes and looser tension. My typical set-up is two on and spool tension just tight enough to keep the spool from wiggling.
  11. My lightest is #6 Yo-Zuri Hybrid (11.95 lb breaking strength); heaviest is #65 Kanzen braid. However, if you are looking for just one line, #12 is what I would recommend for a wide range of applications.

  13. The mouth doesn't look big enough to be 7-8 lbs. I'm thinkin' 4.5 - 5lbs.
  14. Well, I don't really know, but I just feel better knowing everything is perfect.
  15. I had breaking issues with Fluoroclear if that's the coated line you are thinking of. Yo-Zuri Hybrid is a blend of nylon and fluorocarbon, bonded not coated. Hybrid #12 has a breaking strength of 19.5 lbs. There are many options. You will have to experiment in order to find the line that fits you best. I fish Tatsu #20 on one rod, braid with a fluorocarbon leader on another and Yo-Zuri on several others!
  16. C'mon Man! Congratulations!
  17. I have never used that much drag. Sounds like a formula for breaking rods to me.
  18. The Senko brought me back into bass fidhing. 50 years ago it was the original Floating Rapala. Before that the Creme Purple Worm, Devil Horse and Lazy Ike.
  19. Lumaflex. I replace all spinnerbait skirts (new out of the package) with this brand. http://store.jobabylures.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=J&Category_Code=6SK
  20. I don't know...A farm raised trophy doesn't float my boat. The fish doesn't really have many options, so he comes to the trout cage everyday. Reminds me of "trophy" deer hunting where you choose your deer out of a catalog.
  21. Contact Don Barone, I'm sure he will have a few suggestions: http://www.bassresource.com/fish-fishing
