  1. No, and I don't recall anyone posting anything about it either.
  2. This might help: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)
  3. Well, if you fish the Cumberland River, Tennessee River or any of the reservoirs on either system, an "average" striper runs 8-12 lbs. If you get a big'un on, you will either lose it or kill it by the time you get it to the boat. As I wrote earlier, get a MH or H rod, #15 Hybrid or 17 XT and Gamakatsu 4/0 Octopus Circle Hooks if you fish live bait. 8-)
  4. If you have a MH or H bass rod, you don't need anything specifically for striper. 8-)
  5. However, after experimenting with PP 50/12 this past fall and winter, I am a believer. I am fishing PP on a dedicated jig rig and one for weighted soft plastics. The advantage is more than just feeling a bite, its feeling the bottom and every pebble or twig! When combined with very sensitive rods, the difference in braid is night and day. 8-)
  6. I prefer them painted, but fish don't care. 8-)
  7. George Welcome and his clients fish the Chug Bug. I do, too! 8-)
  8. I see no reason to use a leader for "moving" baits. 8-)
  9. Over the winter I have been experimenting with Seaguar InvizX 100% #8 (.009" diameter) on spinning tackle. For baitcasting gear, Seaguar AbrazX 100% #12. I have been amazed with the manageability of InvizX on spinning gear. Abrasion resistance and strength have impressed me, too. I rate it a 10. AbrazX is much stiffer and probably tougher than Inviz and is NOT recommended for spinning tackle. However, for baitcasting gear, another 10. I only change line "as needed" and then just replace 75 yards or so at a time. As a result, the overall "annual cost" is not prohibitive. Seaguar lines are very expensive on a per yard basis, but not so much when spread out over time. If you are looking for a fluorocarbon, these might just be the ones for you. I have been impressed with both and will be using them on several dedicated rigs. 8-)
  10. Spinning tackle: Yo-Zuri Hybrid or Hybrid Ultra Soft #6 (.010" diameter, 11.9 lb breaking strength) Baitcasting gear: Hybrid #12 (.013" diameter, 19.5 lb breaking strength) 8-)
  11. The C-rig is much easier to use fishing structure as opposed to cover. The perfect example is a rocky point. Another situation where the C-rig shines is in bottom grass. A T-rig will bury itself, whereas the bait on a Carolina rig can float above the trash. Remember this point: To raise the bait, move the sinker with a horizontal sweep. This causes the bait to rise. If you move the sinker with a vertical lift, the sinker is raised, but the bait just moves forward, not up. The most common presentation is simply dragging the bait by slow reeling, especially when fishing lizards. 8-)
  12. I fish an ES70MF/ Stella 2500FB/ Yo-Zuri Hybrid #6. 8-)
  13. The Cavitron has a unique chirping sound and produces a strong bubble trail. I usually attach a trailer as you would on a spinnerbait, but I really haven't decided if that's important or not. Bobby, What do you say about plastic trailers? 8-)
  14. Megabass PopMax http://www.tackletour.com/reviewmbpopmax.html 8-)
  15. Well, as one Volunteer to another, that ain't even worth killing. You're right there on the Cumberland River, probably the #1 fishery for landlocked striper in the entire world. You'll need some heavier equipment to go after the monsters in that river! http://www.dalehollowguide.com/stripedbass.htm 8-)
  16. Too cool! ;D ;D ;D
  17. Here ya go: http://www.bassinusa.com/busa/buy_n_sell/reviews/keitech-product-review-3.asp http://www.***.com/descpageKSPLKESWIM-KSIF.html Fish them on Gamakatsu 5/0 EWG Keel Weighted Hooks. 8-)
  18. As my partner would scream, MOTHER GOOSE! 8-)
  19. I have 14 rigs designed to be technique specific. Although I have no specific duplicates, there is plenty of overlap. More importantly: Technique specific rods are for "enthusiasts". Almost all your fishing can be done with just one rod. Beyond that, you only "need" three rods: Spinning: 6 1/2' or 7', M or MH, Fast Action (soft plastics and light lures) Baitcasting: MH or H, Fast Action (jigs, spinnerbaits, buzzbaits and all single hooks) Baitcasting: MH, Moderate Action (all treble hook lures) 8-)
  20. From a couple of weeks ago: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1267450116/5#5 Spool just like you would a baitcaster, line feeding off the bottom. 8-)
  21. I fished the Fat Swing Impact last weekend with some success. They have great action and cast a mile. Hook-ups are 100%. I need to fish them a few times before giving them Elite Status, but they have that potential! ;D ;D ;D
  22. That's a beauty, "CONGRATULATIONS!"
  23. My favorite, for all soft plastics, is "Dark". ;D ;D ;D
