What do you use when fishing HIGHLY PRESSURED city lakes?
Great post Raul! Paul, the answer to your live bait question is simple: My partners fish live bait exclusively and out fish me 10:1 when I'm using artificials. However, I cannot explain why i don't have better success on the river. Generally, my two hours of artificials are fished when the bite is red hot! I'm still working on it. Maybe the next trip, huh? 8-)

What do you use when fishing HIGHLY PRESSURED city lakes?
I'll probably catch all of them twice if I get to fish it enough. I have caught five DD on the "most public" pond I fish. I suspect that's all there are...it's not very big. On another, smaller public pond, I've caught most of the 5+ and have taken several BR members, too! You may remember a post on a PB rondef caught a couple of months ago. I've caught THAT FISH several times. That's why I was able to tell him exactly where to cast. Here are the basics: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 8-)

What do you use when fishing HIGHLY PRESSURED city lakes?
Well Paul, my results are totally different. I think the main reason is choice of lures/ baits. Bass don't get use to Senkos, Fat Ika, Kut Tail, tubes or jigs. 8-)

I know how little the words of an outsider mean to you just now, but I must tell you how deeply I sympathize with you and the officer's family. -Kent

New handGun
Go back through this section. We recently had an extensive discussion on a variety of hand guns. Many of our members have a great deal of experience and expertise. Unless you intend to take up sport shooting as a hobby, I highly recommend getting a revolver. Low tech, low maintenance, low (no) failure rate. Most importantly, you need some training from a knowledgeable friend or from a professional. 8-)

Goby - Food vs Predator
Besides the nutritional value, the goby's habitat has made smallmouth fishing so much easier. Instead of chasing baitballs in open water, our little brown friends now spend most of their time on structure which we can find! 8-)

Fishing After A Shad Kill
There are a lot of baitfish species in the Great Lakes region, but threadfin is not one of them: http://fishing.about.com/od/fishfacts/a/threadfin_shad.htm As this article sates, 45* is where threadfin start dying, but 42* seems to be the critical "drop-dead" temperature.

gear ratio
Well, different deal all together...If you buy a Core, get the 50MG7. I like it much better than the 100. 8-)

Cable vs. kite string... :-?

gear ratio
I have two. Send me your address and I'll send you one of mine to play with. I think you might be surprised. BTW, Although they look almost new, one was bought in 2001, the other in '02 or '03. The first has been used extensively on the Tennessee for big stripes and 100 ton boulders! You can't tell the reels apart and both are better than new! They have been serviced a time or two by Reel Mechanic, but nothing has ever been replaced. These reels are indestructible. 8-)

Fishing After A Shad Kill
The arctic cold that swept through the nation has impacted a variety of fish species. Most notable are native threadfin shad, referred to as yellowtail locally. This species cannot survive when water temperatures drop below 45 degrees. As a result of the cold, many of the lakes and rivers in the Mid West and Mid South are experiencing massive shad die-offs. This is not all bad... On the White River in Missouri and Arkansas the shad kill results in a feeding frenzy for the trout population, especially for German Browns. The Browns lose all inhibition and monsters are being caught. However, I am told this does not hold true for other species on other rivers which brings us to the point: I'm headed to the Tennessee River and have been told by all the locals that we won't catch a thing until the shad carcass' wash through the system. If you have experience under these conditions on any water, please comment. I'm looking for suggestions. Thanks! 8-)

Mono Only
Maybe nothing...Many of our best fishermen on this forum have been using XL, XT and Big Game for decades. However, the cost of trying some other lines is nominal. Try a few for yourself and see what you think. 8-)

Ever do anything really stupid while fishing?
I went fishing on the Tennessee a few summers ago without any beer. 8-)

Difference between shakey head and jig?
Hmm... My shakey head jig head is a Evolution Shake2. It has a striking resemblance to E2 Jigs. One's naked and the other furry. http://www.megastrike.com/ 8-)

Swim Baits for Smallmouth?
Just a reminder of something I mentioned earlier: When you fish Pickwick, if you throw big swimbaits, it will be the first time those fish have EVER seen one. 8-)
