  1. I like them, I think I considered getting one before for a frog rod. Ive felt em a couple times. They're nice, the handle lengths are so short though. Im a big lanky kid and Im used to fenwicks and St. croixs but I think Ill get a dobyns. I might try the colt since it has a slightly longer handle and theres a 6'9 model. Thank you for the feedback! Yeah but I dont think they have any moderate fast models. I know they have cabelas exclusive models, so Ill have to check. I checked on tw and it was just f and xf. Unless your talking casting. Thanks for the feedback!
  2. Ive always heard good on Dobyns. I think the colt and fury have models that would be viable. Is their customer service/warranty system good? Is the col any good? Thanks for the input Oh really? Do you know which model? I like my bass x except the handle length is a little shorter than Id like for a med h. Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it
  3. Got some Christmas mula and was looking to get another bass x or premier since I lost my finesse rod in a kayak accident awhile ago. (Dont ask why its taken so long) I have a medium heavy bass x and like them, and am looking for a rod use wackies and finnesse with. Would the 6'8 m or 7'1 ml be better? I was thinking the 6'8, as it would be a little more versatile and shorter for creek, river, and yak fishing. Thoughts? Also was looking at powell and 13 fishings sale rods, but I like St croixs product, company, and warranty. They look pretty cool to boot aswell
  4. Its not that I dont like it, its that Ive never done it so I dont know how. Ive attempted for deep smallies on the susky and other rivers but usually catch my brown fish shallow (unless its a creek or something). Yeah dude, I love fishing alot, and I try to cherish good trips and possibilities a lot because I love smallies and I usually fish small lakes for lmbs so other than little creeks I dont get after em all that much (which Im trying to change this year). Mays a good month for fishing, I usually dont get the best luck when going on these trips. I went to the Yough in western MD this year for a couple days and fished juice and caught one decent smallie. I went to the Greenbrier in WV last year for a week and only caught dinks. Spawning season and spring is good for small river smallies, I guess Im just stupid or always hit it at a bad time. Maybe I should just hit a lake Sry for rambling, gn
  5. Eries a little closer, and I fish the lower susky and PA so a license isn't a issue. I just dont know, deep smallmouth are not something I really do or am really any good at. I might not bring my boat anyway and just a yak so idk if I could even do it. Theres tons of good lakes and good rivers in western MD, VA, WV, and PA. Its just going in the spring (especially in may) is such a hail mary that its like a role of the dice if the fish are not super difficult to locate. Ive had success on a couple rivers, but I just dont really like hyping myself up anymore because in the mountains (especially in May) the fish are just so weird to what Im used to. NY is an option to, but ive never even really fished there so idek what would be a good place since NY will be colder usually. Ive done so much online snooping too but its just a crap shoot. Ill end up somewhere in WV or VA probably so idk. Id definitely like to fish Tennessee one day. Theres a lot of good small largie lakes in southern WV but most arent too close to lodging or a campground. Theres just so many options that the fishing part of my head just overheats thinking of all the different things I could do and where would be the best place to end up. Enough rambling, Thanks again
  6. Your crazy dude. I guess its different in TN but I dont think you'd catch one sane person (except maybe hunting trips) going camping in the winter in or near MD. Thank you for your suggestion, Ill have to see how far it is. Good ol Tenn is a little further than my family would like to go, but Ill still check it out for sure. I love drift trips, and kinda the whole reason of this question was to get some more ideas to add as over the past couple years I've clocked in over 50 hours in researching and lurking for cool spots and good places. Merry Christmas, hoped you got some fishin goodies
  7. I live in Northeastern Md and usually go a few times a year to places I love anywhere in a 9 hour radius of me. I usually go down into WV or western MD, on the Greenbrier river, Harpers Ferry, and any of the lakes in G county on camping trips in spring and fall, as my dad doesn't care much for the snakes and skeeters, even though he has to deal with them anyway. Kinda weird since arguably other than fall the best time to go camping is the summer. Anyways, Is there any good lakes/rivers that I should hit? Ive looked at a lot, and have done a lot of online lurking. I could go southern or Northern, but NY tends to be pricier and colder in the cooler seasons. I know the new is really good, as are the others Ive fished, but Spring I tend to not be able to find the bigger fish out there. Im open to anything, just other than salt. Merry Christmas all, please bestow great advice upon me

Praying for a decent replacement for Christmas (And i broke my 6'6 in the same accident, sad times)
  9. Havent fished in about a month, but I know on some of the creeks, rivers, and lakes on the eastern shore theres pickerel, crappie, yp, and some bass to be had right now. Light tackle time tho
  10. I went out on my boat this morning on the sassafras and caught a nice bass and lost one. I wasn't out there for too long. I was fishing a pretty bare bones dock with a lot of shade and casted a ned rig shallow and caught him. Ill post the picture tomorrow. Decent day though, the boat ran 11/10 and had a near death experience with a sandbar. Good day though
  11. Its all good, Im good for em myself sometimes.
  12. Thank you, I guess yesterday I wasn't thinking when I posted because I want to put some heavy braid on the reel going with the top water rod and either light braid or straight mono with the reel with the short rod. Im looking to use frogs, toads, and possibly buzz baits, whopper ploppers, and spooks. Im looking to use the shorter rod when ever I need another texas rig rod, or when Im in my yak or just want a short multi-purpose rod. Its also way to late in the year for this and Im taking my boat out Sunday so I really don't feel like taking the line off and respooling each. Thank you for your time and have a nice day! My bad, above is why it wasn't exactly that "simple". Sorry I don't know what I was thinking the other day when I posted. I guess I just forgot? ? sorry
  13. Thanks *face palm*, I don't know why I didn't think of that
  14. So I have a duckett 300 7:1:1 and a bps pq 6:8:1. I have a 7ft frog/topwater rod and a 6 ft 6 med hvy. How sould i mathc it up?
  15. Looking to go out in my boat on the sassafras on Sunday. Ill let you guys know how I do.
  16. Been looking all around for a 150$ pitching and sometimes flipping rod. I think the ikos might be the one. Any feedback will help. My reasons are good reviews, smaller business, American made, and a good warranty. Which model should I get for pitching 1/2 Oz jigs in laydowns, moderate grass (varied types), some light lilypads (and sometimes moderate to heavy), and sometimes rock as well. Thanks and have a nice day!
  17. Thank you guys for the suggestions! Yeah I'm thinking a tournament mb, a tatula ct, or a sale reel. I'm not getting it right now, probably sometime in February. I might have a bigger budget than I think so I might get a custom speed spool, a reg tatula, a sx, or citica. Thanks again you guys! p.s.- I was also thinking a duckett 320, anyone know if they're any good? My 300 I got for Christmas feels pretty good. And I got my pitching reel so now it would preferably be a cranking/jerkbait reel
  18. Welp that's settled For a 140$ pitching reel with braid what would be a good reel?
  19. On Ducketts social media they stated that they would release them to some smaller tackle shops first before online and other locations
  20. I live in Elkton, Md. About an hour north of tuckahoe. I fished there a long time ago. I wasn't very knowledgeable on bass at the time so I caught like one small dink if I remember correctly. I might try in my yak there next summer. I fished Wye mills last summer. Caught one 1 1/2 lber on a jig and lost a few on a weightless texas rigged senko. It was muggy though and I got there late so, I'm sure its good.
  21. Ill check it out, thank you! I'm pretty sure I read this a month ago or so. I think they took it down or they're website cant open It for whatever reason. Thanks again!
  22. Whelp, after more searching I found something new. A possibly better rod. A alx ikos, has good reviews, a specific model(s) to what I want, a 5 year warranty, and made in the U S of A. It has good reviews, and a better warranty. Just informing those here and to ask if any of you have input. It still not definite, but now its probably a duckett Micro magic pro with kigans or a alx ikos. Thank you all once again!
  23. Been looking at a new reel around the 140$ range and saw this. Small company, looks nice, but no reviews. If anyone has input, It be nice if you could say something. Thanks and have a nice day
  24. There was a hardcore bass store that closed recently in my old town. They had some pretty decent stuff but 50% was not my preferred brand (high priced hard baits). They sold quite a bit of shimanos and powells. I shopped there every once in a while. They had supported some local clubs and still do somehow, even though the business is stopped(?) Funny thing is, there is a mom and pop store down the street which is still open (they mainly cater to catfish, perch, and striper guys as I live on the bay). I used to shop there but haven't in years. Cabela's isn't to far away and neither is Dick's.
