The big debate on live scope
We all know finding fish is 80% of catching, making them bite is the easy part even if its not always possible for every fish every day. Generally Im not worried about it for bass fishing, but the panfish and walleye meat hunters can clean up. Fortunately most of them are too old to figure out how to use it. A recent minnesota musky record was caught by a guy driving around not making a cast until he found a specific fish. Then just tries different baits until it bites. Not fishing to me. The technology is starting to push the limits of fair chase to me. It's like hunting deer with a drone. If its going to remain allowed then the regulations need to keep up which means lower bag limits for the rest of us to balance the total take with guides getting limits more easily and consistently. For context, I could afford it and am relatively young, but i guess you can still call me a hater.

vertical jigging depth
Is there a thermocline? If yes, right above it. If not, I've only gone to 30'. Past that and most freshwater fish (except lake trout) will get barotrauma with air bladders in their mouths, so be prepared to keep what you catch. Not a fan of fizzing, seems like a death sentence to me.

Fish & Ski/"Multi-species" built on a bass boat hull? Suggestions Needed
Lund proV bass or ProV musky give you bass boat hull with full rod locker with pedestal seating and more floor space behind them than a normal bench seat. That's about the only option that fits your original criteria. If you want fiberglass either stick with the reata 212 and deal with lack of rod storage or pick your favorite deep V fish n ski and deal with the deeper hull.

Largemouth bass died.
Don't drag them backwards. Just get them in the water and they'll move the water over their gills on their own without swimming. After a big fight its best to keep them in the net for moment to catch their breath or throw them in the livewell to recover before pictures. Imagine running a 100 yards then having to hold your breath for another minute. I think the fight then being out of the water immediately is tough on them.

Fish & Ski/"Multi-species" built on a bass boat hull? Suggestions Needed
As a fish and ski owner, I don't know you'll find what youre looking for. The 212ls rod storage is so poor because its set lower for passenger access to the bow like a ski boat, but in a bass boat hull so it has to be super shallow. A deep V hull allows the rod locker set lower but still maintain room for more rods since it extends further under the floor. Fish and skis dont typically set the top of rod locker at the deck height except a few like nitro zv19 but thats a deep V. The bass boat hull Nitro Z19 sport has the same problem as the ranger 212.

Blue/Green Algae
Thats a nasty bloom, you know it's bad when the surface looks like paint.

Finding my grove with new boat
Use 303 protectant on the seats and plastics. Theyve got marine specific products but i use the regular stuff that is really popular in auto detailing. Puts Armor All to shame and doesn't leave everything greasy.

Heard something concerning today.
Me too but I'm at 20% in that time. Could have easily changed jobs for even more than that. Demand more from your employer or find a new job. If you think the low earners are the ones benefitting these last few years you're out of your mind. I locked in a low interest rate on my house while people are seeing crazy rent increases eating up any increases in wages. Boats are getting more expensive partly because theyre constantly adding features. Every year theyve got to add more and more to compete. Think of a new boat today vs if you bought a 20 yeard old boat new today. Same with vehicles.

bare minimum. how FEW rods can you get away with?
6'6" M/F spinning rod and thats all I need unless were going for something that isn't panfish/bass/walleye. I fish on the weekends so having multiple rods is mostly about spending my time on the water fishing instead of retying, and a little about having bait specific setups.

Lund Renegade
I just had my lund transom replaced under warranty for free last year. 2016 model the last year they used wood.

Ugh. 2:30 AM!
Too bad. Our lake finally didn't spray this year and the weeds are looking better than ever. A slight inconvenience when swimming but it wasnt bad at all.

Lund Renegade
1875 renegade with the pedestal seats would be a sick ride for the northwoods here where the biggest lakes are only 1000ish acres. You could fish in almost any weather and be OK, maybe not the most comfortable when its rough. But i wouldn't do it if the main goal was great lakes fishing. You can get by with a smaller deep V on decent days but for a bass boat you need something sizable unless you really want to limit yourself based on weather.

Rapala-VMC now owns 13 Fishing
Sheesh. They just introduced their own line of plastics and now this too. They've got everything but a line of boats now. I do like their products and can get a good price on them. Might try a reel but I'll stick with other rods.

Stunted Bass Population
Stunted bass in a big lake? Probably lack of food. Stunted walleyes, probably too much harvest of any fish once it reaches legal size. Stunted bass in a small pond? Overpopulation and too much competition. That's my simplified take on it, but every situation is different.

Transporting 7'11 + Rods
I've got an 8' and 9' that ride strapped in the boat along the gunnel bench of a deep V on the way to the lake. No way to bounce out, but I don't know if strapped on the deck of a bass boat would be secure enough for me. If I'm going long distance they go from passenger floorboard along the console towards the rear window of the truck on the drivers side. It's a bit of a challenge to get them in there but they're out of the way for the most part. Haven't had them out yet in my new boat but I think I can still run them along the gunnel, or place them on the floor (fiberglass deep V). But again that doesn't apply to bass boats.

Lake of the Woods - Late June
Just got back from a 4 day trip to Lake of the Woods. It was my first time Canada. We had a blast and the main target was walleyes, but the smallmouth were great too. Easy to find once you identify the right type of shoreline to look for. Might be the time of year but they fought twice as hard as the ones I usually catch and were diving, jumping, and going under the boat. My best 3 were 17.5", 18.5" and 19.75".

I go get it free and keep er movin onto the next spot. Usually quicker than having to retie.

Shad up north in Mississippi River in Wisconsin?
I don't fish over there so I can't comment on shad but I know for a fact there's plenty of yellow perch, plenty of people catch them through the ice on the river.

Mercury Verado owners?
You are right its got a kicker. Its loaded down. I need to swap props and go to a lower pitch for sure since I'm already slightly overpropped and will want to pull a skier/tube in the future.

Mercury Verado owners?
Thanks for the answer. I think that's the main reason I'm not getting any other responses here. That extra weight would slow you down compared to bigger offshore boats that wouldn't notice it.

Mercury Verado owners?
Anybody else out there have a verado? They don't seem to popular on bass boats that went from 2 strokes to everybody getting the 4 stroke proXS. Ive got a 2013 I bought recently and it runs pretty good, some hesitation under acceleration before it warms up. Probably a fuel issue. Seems like it's got a bunch of complicated pieces that don't really provide significant tangible benefits. I'd almost rather have the regular 4 stroke for simplicities sake. I'm not at elevation and don't need the supercharger. That said it looks pretty sweet and hauls ass.

what is happening to lakes where all the catches are dinks?
Are all of those ponds the same size with the same habitat, nutrient levels, available forage, water clarity, fishing pressure, and harvest? If so I'd say yeah thats genetics. Otherwise that's mostly on their environment. They're the same species and no way separate ponds have differentiated themselves enough to grow different sizes with the same inputs. Individual genetics will tell you why an individual bass in the pond grew faster than another in the same situation or why the florida strain is larger than the northern strain but that's as far as it goes in my eyes.

What color is this Keitech ?
Sungill, electric bluegill, or could be mossback golden shad. They all look the same to me and if one works the others would too.

Rapala shadow rap shad
Reel slower, and then maybe a little slower than that until it works. Try raising your rod tip way up to get the line angle pulling up on the nose to fight the lip trying to dive.
