  1. What was the water temp on Guntersville. It was between 37 and 38 on Pickwick Friday. I only got in a couple of hours before I discovered that my bilge pump was not working. Now I have to find a leak and replace a pump.
  2. Welcome, from the northwest corner of the great state of Alabama.
  3. The 40 horse and 17 ft. is plenty. It may get a little rough if the wind gets up, but just find a cove and enjoy. If that cove is creek fed it just gets better.
  4. If I am not too busy at my job I will be sleeping in my truck at Brewton Branch, or the campground at Pickwick Landing. If I can talk my bride into goin with me I will stay at a local no tell motel.
  5. We have 2 really good shops in the Shoals area. Grays tackle in Sheffield, and Perkins outdoors right beside Mcfarland park. Both are family owned and normally have someone behind the counter that knows what is going on with the fish.
  6. Hello Ford, GM and Chrysler are you watching and listening? Want to sell more vehicles, build them better and back them up.
  7. While I ain't no master on Pickwick, I have over the years caught some nice fish there. I have visited the site where the road trip is meeting and everyone is in for a treat. I hope to get to fish the end of the lake where the meeting is being held to hopefully be of some help to other fishermen. The food at the resort resturant is good. And plenty of inexpensive motels are in the surrounding area.
  8. When you say you had her, are you aware of what that can mean in Alabama? There was this one teacher .......................
  9. Welcome to the site, I fish Wilson and Pickwick quite a bit. Maybe I will see ya on the lake.
  10. Yeah, I don't like being left out.
  11. Yes, my son caught one there about 10 years ago in Panther creek. West Tennessee, don't give up on the Tennessee river. Road Warrior is right about that area being tough in the winter. It is the same above Wilson dam for me. I normally fish one to two miles below the dam and do OK this time of year.
  12. I don't know about where that guy is from, but in Alabama clutch smoke smells different from tire smoke. Oh well I am glad he has the money for that kind of nonsense.
  13. Waaaay cool
  14. It does not look like it is made for your outboard. I tried a stainless steel on my 40 and it did not perform like I wanted it to, so I traded it back to the dealer for two aluminum props and have been happy. You want to make sure your motor runs in the same rpm range with the ss as with the aluminum.
  15. If my beer is safe, I am good.
  16. If it is like the Tennesse river you will probably like it better in the winter. Winterize yer boat by runnin it reglar. ;D
  17. some of the most fun I ever had in a boat was with a 12 ft v-bottom, my brother and I would chunk Rooster Tails under low-trees and have a blast. Congratulations.
  18. It is just another way to enjoy the freedom we have here. I put a bunch of miles on my bike and have enjoyed every one of them. Besides my wife won't fish with me but she will ride the bike.
  19. September 11, 2001.
  20. Welcome to the forum, I live in Florence, Al. and fish Pickwick a lot. I have not been fishing as much lately but that is changing fast. I bought a motorcycle and that cut into my fishin'. I plan on balancing the two toys and fishing more. If I do any good on Pickwick I will let ya know.
  21. My personal suggestion as far as license is to buy a Tennessee license, you can fish a long way up Pickwick with it, and if you like to fish tailraces you can fish below the dam. Plus where the roadtrip is this year you can fish 2 different lakes on one trip. Of course Road Warrior already knows this.
  22. Look for the streams or springs that feed the lake.
  23. Thanx, I was just readin' about the road trip. That is close to home for me. Maybe I can get some early fishin in and help out some.
