"There's more to fishing than just us catching bass. We can watch flying anglers catch bass too!" Katie, not only does awareness result in pleasure it results in making a better angler!

I should slow down.
Ha! You touched on a big problem for me! Even with bifocals on it's bad. In the boat with the wind blowing it may take 3 tries to get a knot tied even with hi-vis braid. Given up on florocarbon, totally invisible no matter what size. The answer: patience and persistence, and those aren't my best qualities!

How many carry while out fishing in the boat.
Thank you, Katie. I will get some spray and display that on my outside and keep the gun in my pocket for a last resort.

I should slow down.
Here is what happened to me yesterday. Fished a plastic bait around shallow wood with an 1/8 slip sinker. No bites. Changed to a 3/8 sinker and caught 9 on the same stretch. Speed and depth, speed and depth, speed and depth.........I had the depth right but not the speed.

How many carry while out fishing in the boat.
Katie, there was nobody around at the boat ramp so I was on my own. I have thought long and hard about carrying a pistol. I bought a small derringer that shoots .410 and will carry that from now on. It won't kill but will disable an attacker. I left my phone laying in the boat so I was in a bad spot. Hopefully just pulling it will stop an attack, I really don't want to pull the trigger, but don't want to end up taking a beating. I hate to admit it but at my age and health a beating could be the end.

Dippin a Fat Ika in shallow wood resulted in 9 lil' chunkers yesterday. The best part of the day was when I was tied up to a tree having a snack when a Green Heron came hunting along the bank. Watched him for several minutes. He moved so smoothly, each step so deliberate. Reminded me of a time when I could hunt like that...40 years ago! Now I stumble on a crack in the sidewalk!

Bass "reloading"?
They are more buoyant than most squarebills and that big lip will bounce off wood easily. If you need to hit wood that is deeper than your squarebill will reach this is the bait.

Bass "reloading"?
Memory?🤣 I haven't forgotten my Mother's name yet but that's probably next! I still got the rod and reel and I got only 2 of those Bomber baits left!

Bass "reloading"?
Thank you, Katie! That Bomber was bought in 1970 when I got out of the army, along with a pistol grip fiberglass rod and an Ambassador 4500C. An article in Bassmaster magazine by Floyd Mabry taught me how to fish it. 55 years ago and still works!!!!!

Bass "reloading"?
I've read about anglers saying they found a spot or structure that "reloads". I have found such a spot, I think. It is a ridge between 2 channel bends, 4 ft on top dropping to 10 ft on each side. Stumps and coontail are abundant. I have fished this ridge once a week all summer, some days catching 5, some days 25. I always catch and release. Very rarely do I catch one that I think I caught before, no hook holes or tears in the mouth. I'm assuming it takes longer than a week for a hook wound to disappear (does it?). There are bluegills there too. So, if this is a place that is reloading where and why are the bass moving to and where and why are fresh bass coming from? Maybe that's not the right way to ask this question as I know bass move according to conditions and forage. I keep thinking that the bite here will go away because of the once a week hammering but it has not (yet), and they appear to be fresh fish. What are your thoughts on this?

Can I post a video?
Thank you, Katie. I'll try, but I have low tolerance for repeated "clicking". Have you ever tried a "lawn cart" to haul your stuff?

Can I post a video?
@MNfisher @Swamp Girl Thank you! Won't be posting any videos unless I can find somebody to show me how to "upload".....??? I was surprised I figured out how to post a photo. pretty sad, huh!

Can I post a video?
Can I post a video from my phone the same way I post a photo? No fancy camera or gopro or hi tech computer or the skill to use these things. Just an android phone and me. Maybe a silly question but I'm asking anyway. Thank you for your simple answer.

Katie, I don't have much experience with clear water like you have but in the shallow, dirty water I fish a bigger lure is usually better, I think.

@The Baron @BluegillsTightlines Crappie on a frog....seems I catch 2 or 3 a year. It's quite a bonus when it happens! The crappie fishermen catch 3# crappies on this lake occasionally. Pretty big for Iowa! Katie, I'm always amazed at how fat and beautiful your bass are! Luv your pics!

Hey frog brother! I haven't used the Tsunami yet. High sky and light east wind yesterday so I chose the smaller one. Caught so many the frog got boogered up and my arms turned into noodles. Looking forward to your posts!

@Swamp GirlI found the off-shore drop-off by continually jabbing my paddle into the water until I couldn't feel the bottom anymore. This might be a little too high-tech for most of you guys. These are signs of a great angler. Many people see only the top of the water, a good angler sees what is under the water. A good analogy is from my Dad, who was a good mechanic. He would raise the hood of a truck and ask me what I see. I described the outside of the engine. Although not visible, he could "see" the inside of the engine because he knew what was there and how it worked.

@king fisher said, "No need to argue with anyone. I respect their different opinions and If they don't respect mine than we can talk about the weather." I say it's hard to win an argument with a smart man, it's impossible with a stupid one.
