Do you ever apply peer pressure?
Katie, this post has applied pressure to me. From now on I'm wearing the PFD that I have been carrying around but never wearing. Reading the comments has jarred my pea brain into action. I'm an old, stumble bum that really needs to wear one but have been too lazy to do so. Thank you @Swamp Girl and all the folks who have commented on this!

If you had a bass boat, FFS, SpotLock, and a bag of chips, do you think you'd catch more?

Fishing the Rapala Original Floating Minnow?
A great lure under the right conditions. I use a snap because I struggle with seeing the line and tying the knot. Never had any problems with a snap.

Shaded Shallows
"Al, as time passes, I love my pond more and more. You know how one can tire of a place, no matter how lovely? That's not me, not with my pond." Katie, I know you do! Your writing shows your passion and love. You are my kinda angler!

How long till you change lures?
If you are fishing an area that has a concentration of adult bass (which is what you are looking for) you will catch 1 or 2 even if your speed and depth isn't quite right. At that point you can start fine tuning your speed and depth until you get it right. If at that point you are not catching fish then the school is either spooked, or they have moved, or that first fish or two you caught has fooled you into thinking there was a concentration of fish in that area but there wasn't. Now that is an area that is worth re-checking because sometimes you can fool yourself.

"It's not the play, it's the player."
@GRiver "there is always something that put a kink in the chain. If they aren’t biting……we’ll let’s just say it makes it tough to catch them." How many times have you caught a pile of fish and others on the same lake have caught little? How many times have you caught little and others on the same lake caught a pile? How many times has a tournament winner caught a big bag and others have caught little? I contend there is always a way to catch fish. That's where the "player" comes in!!!

"It's not the play, it's the player."
Was watching a football game and one of the announcers calling the game (I don't remember what game it was or who the announcer was) said this after an exceptional play, whether it was a great run, or a great throw, or a great catch, or a great block. It stuck in my mind and I got to thinking of an analogy to bass fishing. I think what he was saying is that even a great play call is not so great without the skill and ability of the player executing it. In other words, a great play is only mediocre with a mediocre player. So as bass anglers, if we are exceptional (in our choice of locations, choice of matching our lures to the conditions, skill with our equipment, etc.), will that result in more and bigger bass? If we fish in a manner that is not exceptional will that result in a poor day on the water? I realize that there are a lot of moving parts on the field or on the lake so maybe I've got more B.S. than a Kansas feedlot but what are your thoughts?

My heart goes out to those who have struggles and I congratulate those who have success. I have fished through fishless days that I remember but not regret.

Clear, calm, and cool when I started. The cool didn't last. The bass were salivatin' over a squarebill ( Ichikawa RC Flat Shad). I'm not gonna tell you how many 'cause you wouldn't believe me. I could hear the clatter of the combines as they chewed through the Iowa cornfields on the flat ground above the lake and see the dust clouds of their picking rising above the timbered lake bed. It's a special time of year in Iowa! Caught 'ol one eye!

How do your bass get big?
This is a 16 inch bass that weighed 4# 9 oz! Bellied up to the bluegill buffet! Katie says this bass was eating softballs! Lookit the size of her mouth and compare it to the size of her belly!

Big Gabot MB Frog is worth paying more. Anyone else agree?
I have one and need to get more. I like it and it catches bass. Recently bought the Copper Red Tsunami, and it's much bigger but haven't used it much yet. I have a lot of confidence in the Big Gabot.

What high end item is worth the extra cost?
Certainly not the gear experts that have commented here. I use Falcon Lowrider rods, I think they are 200 bucks. Love them. I wanted to have a backup for the All 'round model so I bought the BuCoo model with the same ratings for 100 bucks. It does not feel the same. Same length, same ratings, different grip, different color but it doesn't feel right. Is it all in my head?

Not supposed to use jerkbaits in dirty, hot water. What BS! Not supposed to use deep diving crankbaits in shallow water. More BS!
