  1. That's pretty much what the Garmin rep told me. He asked me how deep I plan to fish, I said "I wouldn't even consider fishing in 100 ft. Of water"....he said there would be absolutely no difference even at 100 feet. Mine should be here Friday. Maybe me (with the gt52) and someone else (with the cv) should compare pictures on here at the same depths.
  2. I went to buy one of the models of the echomap 93sv plus with the old transducer that was on sale but everybody was sold out. Bass pro and cabelas so I pulled the trigger on the 999.00 dollar one with the gt52 transducer. I still wish I could have caught the sale but the guy at garmin said that there is no difference in the image quality with those transducers unless your fishing very deep water 150+ feet. I'll never do that. Anybody have any first hand experience? Is the gt52 transducer worth the extra cash? Also what's the size on the transducers?
  3. I'm interested in this. I came to to ask the exact same question
  4. I fish a little big of everything from big major lakes to ponds and river floating. I dont go sit out in the middle of big lakes though and fish 30 foot of water. Although I do fish some deep lakes that are horsepower limited or electric only. Then I'll go sit and fish some deep water.
  5. A crankbait rod is definitely one I've been considering. What else is good for a medium moderate action? Or even a glass cranking rod?
  6. I kayak bass fish and only want to bring along 3 rods. Right now I have a zodias rod with a shimano stradic ci4+ 2500 that I like to use for small jerkbaits flukes, finess type baits ect... I also have a medium heavy fast action rod for a few different applications....what other action rod would you guys just have to have and why?
  7. I started using p-line tactical and love it.
  8. Anyone using these? Specifically the myakka rods?
  9. Looking at a couple of rods and they are slow action. Never heard of it.
  10. I also talked to bass pro about the sale. She said they are starting theirs on the 15th and will not price match cabelas at this time.
  11. I just spent about 30 minutes on the phone with a tech from garmin. He said that there is no real noticable difference between the transducers. He pulled up and ran the units in a side by side comparison while we were on the phone and stated that they are identical, And to just perform a software update on the older of the 2. He said if he found a significant price difference in the 2 units he would most definitely opt for the cheaper deal. Especially if it was a large difference in price like the sale that Is going on now.
  12. Will the 93sv plus with the 3 in 1 transducer be involved in this sale? Looking to get one real soon
  13. I have a zodias rod paired with a stradic ci4+....I love that little combo. My question is I like those zodias rods so much that I want a could of the casting models. I know they have the ci4+ reel seat. I want to put a metanium dc on one, and a chronarch mgl on the other....it should work fine right being that those reels aren't ci4+ units....
  14. Thank you sir! How can I be sure that I order that HD box?
  15. Yes sir it does. I'm looking real hard at this unit.
  16. This kayak actually has what's called a dry pod that goes in that hole. It wont set that deep in it at all. The picture is just for reference
  17. Pretty much all of it...how are the images? I've seen some impressive images coming from humminbird. All I have done is a ton of reading and I'm about set on that Garmin unit. I've used a ton of Garmin products hunting with dogs but never a sonar.
  18. Anybody have experience with these models? Specifically the plus model with the 3in1 transducer
  19. Looking at a lowrance elite 7 ti2, it has the 3in1 transducer with side scanning. I called lowrance and explained what I have and asked how much clearance I need from the bottom of the kayak for the side scan to work properly. I know very little about sonar units, but he said I didnt need any clearance as long as the transducer was submerged in the water, I explained that there could be obstructions to the left and right (hull of the kayak) and he said it didnt matter....im not trying to be rude here at all but he spoke with a heavy accent that is way different than my heavy southern accent and I want to make sure that what we have here, IS NOT a failure to communicate....Here is where the transducer will be....the kayak is a bonafide ss127 if that helps any.
  20. Thanks for the advice fellas. I know of a few other options I've been looking at. I'll go that route. I just figured I'd check and see before I spent any money. I dont need anything fancy. Just a small rarely used light source for when I'm sitting there waiting on the sun to start coming up.
  21. Because I like free and these were something I found in the junk drawer the other day. If it won't work it just wont work. That's the reason for asking the question and not just going ahead and doing it.........I was always told there is no such thing as a dumb question........dumb answers are a dime a dozen though.
  22. I have this awesome light that plugs into the wall and has a 9v dc output. I want to snip that plug off and mate it to a cigarette lighter plug and use in on the kayak. Here are a few pictures (lights are blue LED and chap stick is for size reference) I am also posting a link to the battery I plan to use. https://nocqua.com/product/pro-power-kit/
