Rage Ned Rig bait and one other too
I rigged up a couple rage menace the exact same way last week and did a google search to see if it was a common thing. I felt so unique haha, but I’m glad to see that other people are getting creative. Let me know if you have any success with it!

@Tonykoch welcome! We’ve already spoken a bit but nice to hear your story! I live in the city so a lot of time I’m doing some more urban style fishing. Byrd park stocks trout every fall so grab a big trout swimbait/glidebait and be patient. Met a guy down there who turned me on to that method, he said there are BIG bass in there.

Bass and crappie fishing locations in Richmond/Central Virginia
Man was I bummed tho! Hooked into a 5+ that jumped off and 5 minutes later the Goochland county sherif was on my tail. Had no idea I was fishing on federal property lol. And the kicker was that the sherif was a fisherman himself, he even gave me some tips as he wrote my 120$ citation!

Bass and crappie fishing locations in Richmond/Central Virginia
Haha stick it to the man! After receiving a trespassing to fish ticket last season by the federal reserve building in Goochland, I try to avoid these types of situations...

Bass and crappie fishing locations in Richmond/Central Virginia
@Black Bill Dance if you continue down lucks lane towards 288 passed the pond there is a road to your right, I think it’s just a service road it dead ends, but I just park right on the side of it. There’s a trail leading through the woods from there that takes you out to the pond. Hope that helps!

@kickerfish1 haha no worries it can be confusing talking about all these different reels. Sounds like it is more what I’m looking for. Sort of blindly ordered the Met thinking it would be a bit smaller, not that having a spare Metanium laying around is a bad problem to have! The Aldebaran seems more what I’m looking for, I’m a sucker for those super compact reels, plan to use it for cranking with the lower ratio. You are right about those cores, they almost have a cult following! I think the Aldebaran is a sharp little reel, not worth the extra to me for a red spool haha

Hopefully gonna put the yak in at the Powhatan Wildlife Management Area this weekend, I’ll keep my eyes out for some bedding bass. Hoping for a new PB, wish me luck!

@JustJames The Met mg is definitley super smooth, and whoever sold it to me had it dialed in to my liking as I didn't have to change he brakes at all. I'm just disappointed in its overall size in comparison to some of my newer reels. Still a workhorse of a reel, I guess I'm just jaded with some of the more compact designs I'm so used to fishing. As for the Scorpion Antares, it appears to have the same frame as the Met mg. Just for clarification, the Aldebaran mg is a bit smaller than this right?

@JustJames Yeah that helps a lot. Sounds like it is more what I’m looking for. I have a Chronarch ci4 which I’m really enjoying and I believe that is a 150 size. Even my 200 size Curado I is more palmable than the Met mg (which I thought was a 150 size as well), so I wasn’t sure if it was just advancement in technology that has gotten the profiles of the reels smaller. May have to go ahead and get the Aldebaran. I’ll let you know how it feels if I do!

Anyone have this reel or used it before? I’m speaking of the older JDM Model. Does it palm as nicely as some of the newer reels? I recently picked up an older JDM Metanium Mg and was disappointed with how bulky it is. Any experience you could share with this particular reel would be helpful! Thanks!

@Sam also thanks, could not ask for a more thorough response! Caught one today in the canal by the 95 bridge. That front had the fish somewhat active.
