  1. I followed a 3' water snake down a 200 yard section of bank one day. The reason being was there was a school of bass following it. Not to eat it, but ready to chase anything coming out of cover as the snake would dip into it. Anything coming out from a rock was met with a reaction bite.
  2. This sounds tasty....I might even take a bite of it.
  3. 1. Canadian craw trd on a 3/32 morel that is lathered in megastrike. 2. Texas rigged Maxscent creature hog popped out of any grass/ structure. 3. Fat impact rigged on a owner flashy swimmer.
  4. Same as above, 25' of crystal clear pressured water.
  5. There has been an major uptick in my area and a lot of people that are just trying to figure it out. I've tried to be helpful where I can but there are always the blood boilers. On a positive note, the amount of kids/teenagers I've seen out has also increased. If you have a bunch of tackle sitting around, think about taking a little each outing to give out. In the end this will pass as most fads do. Those with addiction will be the ones that stick with it once some normalcy starts to return.
  6. Tournament days I only Macho Man Randy Savage some slim jims. Only time I will eat them but its turned into a ritual.

Stretched out TRD and megastrike goes together like lamb and tuna fish. I'm a believer in it out fishing a non scented bait.
  8. Came on a full blown shad spawn on a prework morning outing. Was disappointed by the lack of feeding by predatory fish, but the ones I caught looked like they got there moneys worth at the buffet.
  9. Run on a bunch of electric only lakes. Below is my findings on a 175 Tracker over the last few years. 55 12V. Max cruising speed of about 3mph. Better have some extra battery power on windy days. 55 12V with 45 tiller on the transom. Max speed of around 3.2 mph. The tiller saved the big motor from being fired up a time or 2. 70lb 24v Depending on load weight can hit over 4 mph. 70lb 24v with 2 45's on the transom. Can hit over 4.5 mph in the right conditions. The 2nd tiller is almost unnoticeable if left off. Weight and weight distribution can impact all of these speeds greatly. **Having the co angler move to the front of the boat when running can pick up .2-.4 MPH
  10. I got on a ripper of a spring jerkbait bite when I first started transitioning from fly fishing to bass fishing. It took me a while to understand why every outing wasn't like that. This guy pinned one last night, not a single hook embedded.
  11. Did some options trading this week. So far so good but it can change in a heart beat. Plan to buy in once it settles some more.
  12. My dad had an electric worm shocker that I would spend hours with prepping for fishing trips (mostly trout). There was also a small pond by the house that I would often shock up a pocket full of worms and catch a load of sunfish and maybe a bass. The one we had wasn't as insulated as the one below and was always good for a jolt. Also learned several times over that wet ground, bare feet, and electricity leads to some unpleasant moments. The moments are very fond memories.
  13. Annual reminder, only 10 days away till an extra hour of evening fishing. The weather outlook for PA isn't hateful either.
  14. Picked up a 150 at the end of a fishing show yesterday. It looked so lonely just sitting by itself since all of his friends had already been adopted. I couldn't just leave it there.
  15. Anyone following this? I find it very interesting on how manufacturing and supply chains will be impacted in the coming months. The Chinese supplier I deal with on a weekly basis has had their plant closed for the last 5 weeks with plans of starting back up next week. Come April and May there might be stoppage/shortage in any material goods that were lacking in a domestic inventory....fishing items included.
  16. Didn't get a weight but she is the biggest Pennsylvania bass of my life. Caught on a owner flashy swimmer with a swing impact fat in sexy shad. Biggest brought to the scales was 5.8, caught on the 2nd cast of the first tournament of the year. Didn't catch another keeper the rest of the day.
  17. Confirmed over lunch break that bass like the action of the suspending quake as much as I do.
  18. That is correct.
  19. Gave one a trial run yesterday. Overall I believe it will be a very productive bait and can really produce in certain situations. A few notes; Run depth was about 3ft and would get there fairly quick. The bait will float subsurface until cranked to depth. Water temp was 39 and it would suspend or slowly sink in shallower water. Ran true after pausing or slight jerks. It did roll to its side burning it but that's not its purpose. Plenty of other traps to pick from if burning a trap is the ticket. Hooks were sharp and didn't see a need to replace them. Looking forward to seeing what it will produce as its a unique presentation.
  20. Set the scene, January 2020 in Pennsylvania on a sunny 40ish degree day. Had about an hour of time to fish so hopped on some rip rap. Usually very cautious where I step, but its January so no worries other then don't fall in. Had to be close to setting a high jump world record while carrying 3 rods and backpack after firmly planting my foot on something that started moving. The water snake probably had it worse then me. Sidenote*** 90% of people misidentify snakes as venomous around here. Every water snake is called a copperhead.
  21. Was set on being a fisheries biologist and went to school for Wildlife and Fisheries. At the time I never gave a thought to how few jobs exist, how little they pay, and how insecure jobs were. Lucky the chemical company I worked for during the summer had other plans for me and my life traveled down the path of operations. Currently a plant manager learning the world of metal fabrication. Never got paid a dollar for my fisheries knowledge, but do keep in contact with some local conservation officers to volunteer when possible.
  22. Lost a fish that went from livewell to lake without touching the deck. Ever since that day there is always a bag or other item on each side when getting ready for weigh in.
  23. Any soft plastics I keep in a labeled package. Jigs and trailers...good luck matching without help, but they still work. You can't screw up black and blue. Hard baits...I just keep them simple. It has been suggested to me to take a fine point sharpie and make a small identifier on various parts of the underside. Also works for depth if you need a way to identify. If you get a chance, try a pair of colorblind glasses, they really is a difference green pumpkin "blah blah blah" colors.
  24. Parlaying it with the Baylor game? I'm headed to Dallas in 2 weeks and have a free day I might fill with a guide trip. Looking at Joe Pool or Grapevine currently. Went to Austin for the game in 2012. City was great and everyone was welcoming.
  25. I've yet to experience riding in a bass boat with anything higher than a 75 hp motor. Every lake within 2 hours has motor restrictions, everything within 30 minutes is electric only. Current target goal is a muskie on a fly.
