  1. Any of you Maine fisherman Know if the ice is out of the grand falls flowage yet or at least looking bad
  2. I never used to catch fish on spinnerbaits until i started fishing windswept shorelines with them and had the best and most exciting fishing i ever had, now that i have confidence in them and they are one of my favorites. As for the frenzy crankbaits try them for topwater they can be a blast thrown around rocks and stumps and just twitched slowly i prefer floating raps but frenzys seem to work good as well.
  3. I fish tubes almost religously for smallies but i have never caught a fish on a crawfish shaped soft bait i know some people do but i can't . I have to admit i to bought the banjo minnow and have to credit it for one tournement win as well during a cold front and nothing else seemed to work but a white nose hooked banjo minnow slayed 15lbs 15oz in 5 fish and has'nt caught a fish since dont know why
  4. I love the x-raps but the Muskies keep stealing them from me
  5. I usually use at least 14 lb iron silk on my baitcasters but i do have one with 30lb power pro and i just use the piece of tape that holds the line on the spool it comes on to keep it from spinning on the reel. Then i just replace the first 50yds usually 3 times a year.
  6. wow awsome smallies man nothing like that here in New Brunswick, California here i come
  7. Mainebasser you should try the grand falls flowage that borders New Brunswick you will find your 4 pounder there and a good chance at a 5 pound plus smallie. The biggest bass caught in our tournement series was caught there and it was 5lb,2oz but i know there has been bigger ones caught pre fishing there. You do not need a New Brunswick licence to fish there but we have to buy a Maine licence and a weed sticker to fish there.I'll be there April 15 and cant wait suspending jerk baits and slow worked tubes seem to work best for me there in april see you on the water
  8. i have good luck with #4 blue fox with copper blade or mepps with flouresent orange body and blade
  9. Original floating Rapala silver or blue for top water,, yum Green Pumpkin Vibratubes for bottom fishing ,wackey rigged senko for suspending fish
  10. this is my favorite techniqe for lunch time i always have a rod riged with a slip bobber and a wacky rigged senko throw it out and have a coffee and sandwich and have caught alot of fish that way. Some of my tournament buddies have seen me fishing this way and make fun of me but who cares as long as it catches fish
  11. Roadwarroir i am from New Brunswick which is next to Maine and fish what is called the grand falls flowage that borders on maine you can catch 3-4 pounders until your arms fall off but nothing i have ever seen much over 5lbs but the fishing is incredible there in may but watch out for stumps!!!
  12. i us a differnt approch due to the Rocky lakes here in New Brunswick on my Soft plastics rods i use 20lb power pro braid with a 10lb test iron silk shock tippet on the end about 4-5 feet long this stuff is very abrasion resistant and super strong i tie it on with a uni-uni knot and have never have had one break on a fish and the iron silk gives a little stretch that the braid does not have and gets really good hooksets
  13. My biggest smallmouth to date was 5lb 2oz Caught on the Mactuquac headpond using a original floating rapala . my biggest last year was 4.75 lb caught on a punkin chartruse tube on the last cast of the day in a 2day tourny on the St.john River in New Brunswick Canada that fish took biggest fish for the 2 day tournament
