  1. But I use weighted hooks that that have screws to hold in the Senko. I couldn’t find any non weighted hooks that also have screws. How then, do you keep the Senko from falling off the hook? Whats holding it on if there’s no screw?
  2. Do you mean to say that I can throw a Senko (on a baitcaster) without any weight at all on the hook itself or any bullet weight?? Does the Senko really have that weight on its own?
  3. Algae is a bad sign for a lake. However if you choose to ignore it, try a live frog. Keep it natural
  4. Don’t really get the problem
  5. Whatever you do, dont use a baitcaster!
  6. How exactly did your rod snap?

The rip in the Senko was not close to where the screw lock is. What I might think is possible is that since I am using a weighted hook, therefore, every time the fish bites, it pushes the Senko through the weight (on the hook) therefore causing the hole to get bigger. Could that be the case?

I use a VMC weighted hook for Texas rigging. Could that make a difference?
  9. Hey everyone what’s up! Recently I’ve discovered a pond not far from where live, and before the eye can blink, it turned into my honey hole. But I’ve began to notice something in the bass that I’ve caught. I noticed that 1). none were over 3 lbs 2) none of them really had a big belly, like most bass do. That got me concerned that maybe, because of it being a small pond and very little fishing that goes on there, there could be an overpopulation of bass, causing there to be not enough food to sustain all the bass, in which case the bass are small because they don’t have enough to eat. And I know there’s a bunch of bass there because I see them all jumping when it reaches dawn. If my theory is correct, or you have any other thoughts regarding the bass population and health in this pond, please feel free to share below. Thanks

But is it supposed to get ruined after EVERY catch? I didn’t know they’re THAT fragile....?
  11. Hi, I can’t remember a time senkos have ever failed me. I’ve been using them for as long as I can remember and they’ve produced so nicely. However recently I bumped into a problem. I noticed that after every catch, the Senko is ripped. I am not sure as to whom this usually occurs, but it is really getting me annoyed that each fish tears my Senko, causing me to replace it, and after all, soft plastics are not cheap. Am I rigging it wrong or does this just happen?
  12. Well thanks everyone for all your help! Took the rig I described at the beginning, and so far caught 3 bass on it today!
  13. Well, I’m not so sure about that. The more people there are fishing, bigger chance there is for them to find your honey hole, and no angler would appreciate that!
  14. I used to be a big spinning guy but suddenly I became the biggest baitcasting fan ever. I use it everywhere - for trout, bass, and even sometimes sunfish!
  15. The reason I use a weighted hook is so that I can attach the Senko directly to my swivel without retying it every time when ever I use a bullet weight, and also so that I can cast further unlike when it weightless.
  16. I’m from the east coast if that makes any difference........
  17. Hey there everybody! I’m kinda new to Senko fishing, as I would almost always use crankbaits when fishing for largemouth bass. However recently I decided to buy senkos and give it shot. I got a gamakatzu 3/0 weighted hook, (for Texas rigging) and a few 6” (bass pro imitation) senkos. I was wondering if the 3/0 hook will be too short for the 6” Senko, and I’m afraid maybe the Senko will be too big for the bass’s mouth to reach all the way to the hook. I know that most people will use a 4/0 hook, but I didn’t know that at the time and bought a 3/0 hook. If you have any thoughts or experience on this topic, please feel feee to share. Thanks
  18. Are the bass still spawning now that it’s practically the summer?
  19. Let me know if I’m doing something wrong, but I use a baitcaster for both bass and trout. Is a baitcaster appropriate for trout?
  20. Hi, Im just curious..... Is there a difference bass fishing now and and bass fishing let’s say in the mid 1900s? Like for example was there a difference with bass population, or bass behavior, what they bit and what they didn’t, or anything like that? (Not regarding our modern fishing technology)
  21. But how well do pike (or bass for that matter) coexist with trout?
  22. Hi! Today, I fished a lake that’s not too far from where I live, and it was the my first time fishing it. After a few casts I caught a small pike. I knew before hand that there were largemouth bass and trout, but I didn’t know that there were also pike. I did some research on pike and learned that they are very aggressive (this one bit a lure that was half it’s size) and are known to eat trout, small ducks, and even bass. If pike are in a lake, is that bad for the other species in the lake? What is stopping them from eating all the bass in the lake? I’m just curious because I came to that lake for bass fishing and I would like to know whether the fact that there are pike in the lake is a threat to the other species. If anyone knows a little about this topic, I would greatly appreciate it if you can tell me what you think. Thanks
  23. Is it possible for bass to live in a pond without ever being stocked? If so, how do they get there?
  24. Ow wow that’s cool. The difference is that most people here (in this conversation) are from the other side of the country with a much higher bass population, so it is more likely for the bass to be in the ponds over there, or does that make a difference? How do bass get into these kinda ponds anyway? If there’s a nice bigger lake with fish in it, is there a bigger chance that the smaller pond next to it will have fish?
  25. I only use rapala countdowns my whole life
