  1. WOW!!!!! All those baits need to be in my box.
  2. Very nice looking bait. Did you carve that by hand?

Here are a few baits I just recently finished. Just some standard color patterns.
  4. ibass, Here is my sealing process start to finish. 1st- I rub a coat of super glue on the bait, makes the wood hard as a rock. 2nd- 1 coat of epoxy, not thinned. 3rd- prime and paint. 4th- Clear coat Thinned epoxy will work very well for sealing your baits. There is not enough extra weight to make a difference unless you bait is weighted to max.
  5. Looks good but you should have sealed the wood before painting.
  6. Here is a little round bait with foil in that color pattern.
  7. Ben, take a sharp knife and carve the epoxy down then sand it smooth. Another coat of epoxy with fix it the bait. I did the same thing when I first started using flex coat but it was 6 lures.
  8. Foil it and paint the belly white, back in black, with a red throat. Tried and true color pattern.

Nice work John, that thing is going to get killed. I would just shoot if swam past me.
  10. Jigs are nice, pics are terrible ;D
  11. You are well on your way to having a nice jerk bait. Make a floater and forget about suspending, nearly impossible with balsa wood.
  12. John, your work is outstanding. I working on a couple of swim baits but I'm not at your level. I have a long way to go but it's fun learning. How are the cranks working for you?
  13. I hope the fish like that bait as much as me Good looking paint on the B2 clone.

I have to say all those colors look sharp. That is some quality brush work. I think we all know which baits are my favs
  15. Barlow's and lurepartsonline are two other places. I'll take the pre-fab bills over making my own any day. That part adds 30 min to my build time.
  16. I've been using flex coat ultra v for almost 2yrs with not yellowing. The old stuff would yellow pretty quickly but then so did devcon.
  17. Good report
  18. That crackle medium crap just bites. I have some crazy fish catching patterns in my mind but the crackle crap won't obey >
  19. I'm hear to tell you those first 3 baits will just flat out catch fish. I'm not partial to those at all. All the baits look great but mine just have a special place.
  20. John you are the swim bait guru.
  21. If you use a snap then remove the split ring or tie directly to the split ring. I prefer snaps because I like to change baits often.
  22. 10 and 15lb powerpro on all my spinning rods, will never go back to mono.
  23. Cracker, all the baits look great. You still da man
  24. kb, I have not been able to locate the translucent white garolite. Jann's has some pre-made lips from that material.
  25. I can now that I'm going to hate you also You guys with the painting skills already built in. The baits look good and will look great with a clear coat.
