  1. Aquaftm45 started following Rod Transformer
  2. Any recommedation for an expert rod builder who can transform my Fenwick Techna GP from a baitcast rod to a spinning rod? Located in NC, but willing to ship.
  3. What did they call these set ups that throw normal sized lures before "power finesse" was created?
  4. Yeah, I forgot to mention that, they were a limited run and I had bought a bunch when they came out a couple of years ago. I recently found a big batch on Yahoo Shopping and re-upped my stock. I buy alot on Yahoo Auction via a 3rd party (buyee) and they also do Yahoo Shopping. When bundled with a big order the shipping is negligable. These are actually two seperate hooks bound together so they have a degree of articulation which helps keep the fish pinned, much like assist hooks that they use in saltwater jigging. Alternativly, clipping the hook is a good alternative. I'm not a fan of barbless, guess I am not a good enough fisherman to keep from losing a fish on a barbless, I've tried them while trout fishing and my fish loss rate is rediculous. A pinched barb is actually better than a true barbless as you have a small hump left where the barb is, which helps keep the fish on a little better. A micro barb hook is a step of from that, but again, I am talking trout fishing.
  5. I've converted most of my hardbaits to twin hooks. Reduced snags by 90% and I am more confindent throwing in squirrly places. Haven't noticed a measurable difference in catch ratio.
  6. Pic 1 and 2 are almost certainly Chara. Pic 4 appears to be Southern Naiad.
  7. Great find, I've been trying to track down one of these for 3 or 4 years

Normally a $300 rod and worth every penny. Megabass F6.5-70 XX Jig & Worm
  9. Daiwa HLC, Daiwa Morethan, Daiwa Battler, IS Red Galaxy, IS UC, Certate 3500HD, JDM Exist 2510
  10. I'll throw you a curve ball and suggest the MB Hyuga 67 ML. Fast Action. 122 grams, Stainless guides frames. Pyrofil blank. I am not sure about this one but my 7'2 Hyuga has SIC inserts at the same price point, so this one should also. Best sub $200 rod I have ever purchased. Plus dang man, it Purple! Have several MB above this price point and this hangs with them. With that reel you will have a 9.8oz package. Should be right below $200 including shipping Never had an issue with this seller, nor have I heard any on the forums. Recieved all of my packages within 2 weeks of order, if not a rod, sooner. https://www.tacklejapan.com/category/select/cid/62/pid/5830 https://www.megabass.co.jp/site/products/hyuga-67ml/ If you want to stay state side, I would go with a PX Recon Elite 6'8 ML. Very similar specs, weight, action ect...$180
  11. Megabass Drunk Fly. Best jig on the market hands down, and the hardest to find...
  12. Right on! Wrapping paper from my latest Samuri Tackle purchase in prep for my upcoming trip to SW Florida to tackle some Snook/Tarpon and Reds. A nice touch
  13. Nice looking arsenal Vu. Mine is similar, but the other end of the spectrum. L-R Daiwa Battler/Megabass TS Poker Daiwa HLC/ Megabass Orochi XX 7-11 Daiwa Morethan PE SV/ Megabass Destroyer Javelin Daiwa Tatula 3k Limited/Megabass Levante Shakeyhead
  14. I am from Las Vegas and I am familiar with the water bodies you are talking about. Unless you want to follow around the NDW stocking report to catch 11 inch Rainbow Trout, or sit in a chair for 12hrs soaking a chicken neck for a slimy catfish, you are better off heading to Southern Utah for a day trip. Sand Hollow Reservior is an excellent location to catch bass for the shore based angler. (your son can also swim in the crystal clear water if he get bored or hot) If you have the option, I would visit during the weekdays when the waterway is not so pressured. Fish anywhere along the southern rip rap and you will catch fish. Heading into spring and summer, Gunlock Reservior is also a great option. They performed a fish kill about 4 years ago, and restocked. It is now loaded with plenty of bass in 1-2lb catagory, they are very active this time of year. Ned Rig with the Zman branded baits will provide plenty of fish and low cost, no muss, no fuss fishing. I have had 20 plus fish days at both of these locations and have never been skunked at Sand Hollow in any month fished in the past 2 years. $75 for an annual pass to all Utah state parks, around $60 for a non resident annual fishing license. Well worth the money. The 1.5 hr drive from Vegas is not the best, but if you want to catch fish consistantly from the bank, you have to get out of Vegas.
  15. That truly is a sweet combo. Waiting for them to come out with a 50 mgl similar to the new JDM 30 mgl with the outside adjustable centrifugal brake, I will make that my 1st shimano in years. Hopefully by them they will have a poison variant rod that is 7'2 plus and in the m/l range.
  16. Knobs feel good... in the back yard (as far as I have gotten it). Grip feels secure with the non uniform knob shape and space, dry that is, without a load. Looking forward to seeing what they feel like out on the water under load. The TS Poker is quite a stout rod, and I think that Battler is a match made in heaven for it. Both in looks and functionality. Will eventually upgrade the drag, and put a 100mm handle on it. The Battler has been an impressive caster, even on that stiff Poker. Can't express how impressed I am with the casting and braking system on the reel. It goes toe to toe against my Daiwa Morethan PE SV with 3/8th ounce plugs, casting both on my Destroyer Javelin. It goes toe to toe against my Daiwa HLC throwing a 3/4 ounce plug casting both from my XX 7-11. Both the Battler and the HLC have a 36mm spool, Morethan a 34MM spool. I can interchange the HLC and Battler spool if I want. As far as I know they don't make a 36 mm SV spool, would love to have that as an extra spool. Very insteresting looking at the innards of each spool. Batttler has a light spring, HLC has a heavy spring (but is a ported very light spool), and the Morethan has a plastic inductor. My theory after a bit of playing around with each one, is that I can get similar casting performance with each one within different tweaks to the mag and spool tension.
