#$&@! Hotel Guest
At our business I always say we can have great customers all week, people that are really just great to deal with, but you get ONE guy who's the total opposite and it's enough to ruin your week and leave you dwelling on it non stop.

Trolling motor: Should I buy?
Also bought my Talon off ebay with zero issue, full warranty. Ebay in general probably does more to protect a buyer than it does the seller. A lot of times you can even just call those bigger sellers too and discuss it with them or find out more info if you feel the need.

Shift work vs Mon-Fri?
For years I worked shift work, often mixed hours nights and days, sometimes weekend nights until 2am or so. I never thought I would be able to adapt to a job with a normal Mon-Fri 7am to 3:30pm schedule but I've been doing it almost 10 years now and love the "normal" hours. Yes sometimes I wish I had days off in the middle of the week to go get some quiet fishing in but having actual weekends off just makes life so much easier with a family now.

Trolling motor: Should I buy?
I bought mine off Ebay back in like 2018, it was from some marine store who actually had a brick and mortar location, website etc. But they seemed to do a heck of an ebay business and the price on a new Fortrex was pretty great and pretty sure I didn't have to pay sales tax. I had no issues with the purchase or product and I still use that TM today with no issues. If it's from a reputable buyer with good feedback and the product is brand new and has it's regular warranty, I really don't think you can go wrong.

I should have listened - C-TUG kayak cart
I bought a C-Tug from ecofishing for $75, they matched the price from some other sketchy discount website....surprisingly. Haven't used it yet but snapped it together and tested it out in my yard, seems like a great little cart.

Hello from upstate NY Finger Lakes
Hey Jim, I'm from the Rochester area but keep my boat and do most of my fishing in and around Fair Haven/Lake O. Also recently bought an Old Town Predator PDL but I'm in the thick of shipping/supply uncertainty so I don't expect to actually receive the kayak for another month or more. My pessimistic side thinks Fall time. oh well! welcome aboard, this is one of my favorite places to kill time while I'm on the clock.

Your favorite polarized sunglasses?
For the past few years I've really liked wearing Spy Angler sunglasses. I believe the Angler model is now discontinued but they still have them around on Amazon and elsewhere, anywhere from $80-150 depending on color. I have my eye on another pair of Spy sunglasses, the Discord model but just don't really wanna drop the money right now.

Buy new now or wait for used?
Yeah I wouldn't buy a Tracker at a Ranger price, but I'd definitely consider a Lund for a Ranger price.

Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke ~ Know the Signs
Not a big fan of fishing in the 90 degree weather. What I do like though, is fishing for a while on the boat, then jumping in to cool off, then fishing more and repeat. That's about the only way I can stand it out there on those days.

Tips for catching more bass
I usually am of the mindset when shore fishing to cover as much ground/water as possible. Even if you catch a couple bass in one spot, don't continue to fish that same exact spot for the next hour unless it's just non stop action. Take note of what they hit, how they hit it and a general depth and just keep moving along to the next spot. I've never understood how some people can sit on a bucket at the same spot for hours especially when it's slow, but I'm also amazed at how many seem to actually do that.

Fishing on holiday weekends?
I feel the same about holiday weekends but nowadays I don't get to pick and choose when I can fish so whatever time I get, I take it. Luckily its gonna be cold this weekend so hopefully it'll be fairly quiet.

Pre thunderstorm bass fishing
I always liked fishing right before a storm and immediately after. I've had varied luck, but typically it's peaceful in the summer because all the leisure boaters are high tailing it back home.
-
Earliest you have ever been bass fishing.
I'll wake up around 4am during the peak days of summer to avoid the heat and other boat traffic while I'm at my family's cottage. Ironically, I still never really have much action until 7 or 8 am. If I'm on the water by 5am I'm making pretty dang good time though, for me. Then by 12pm I need a nap.

WD40 as fish attractant.
Never heard of this, but it sure sounds like a classic fisherman's wives tale.

Yesterday I saw more kayaks WITH motors than without.
What annoyed me when recently kayak shopping was every single Old Town Predator I was seeing for sale used was a motor driven one. Absolutely no pedal driven ones around. I almost pulled the trigger on a trolling motor model just because of how cheap some were but then I got thinking I already have a boat with all the necessary gadgets, why get another that would have more to worry about and require registration, batteries/charging, etc. I see the appeal if you don't have a boat though.

Does the time of day matter for a whopper plopper?
I think it's highly dependent on the body of water. Some places I fish are great for top water at all times of the day regardless of weather, and other places that look like they'd be great are the total opposite all the time.

Outboard engine DIY maintenance help
get the motor and lower unit oil changed ASAP, probably shoulda been done earlier since it's a new motor but not the end of the world. I have a 75hp Honda 4 stroke and usually I do upper/lower oil, check plugs but definitely not necessary to replace those every year on that motor, water pump impeller every couple years, fuel filter...All your basics. The funny thing is any time I've brought it to a shop it seems like they never suggest what "should" be done. I've been slacking on annual service on mine because I feel like I'm only using it a handful of times each season.

Windy conditions
There's definitely days where I've had to focus way more on controlling the boat than actual fishing. At that point I kind of wonder why I'm even trying to fish...

Boat Cover Advice
Get a travel cover rather than a mooring cover so that way you can strap or bungee it down regardless of towing or just sitting in the driveway. I bought mine from Iboats.com in 2017 and it's been fine for the $300ish I paid. Even survived a harsh trip to and from Quebec over 1k miles with no tears in the loops or any other issues.

Left alone or harassed
Well I hate to say it but all my worst encounters are from other bass fishermen usually doing tournaments (while I'm leisure fishing) trying to crowd me or well within casting distance, or moving in if they see me catch something. It's happened so many times I actually just don't look forward to tournaments on my home port. I'd take a disgruntled property owner any day over a fellow fisherman who's absolutely careless about reasonable boundaries.

Heddon Tiny Torpedo Collection
I love fishing those things. I just twitch them back with good pauses in between. Likely my most successful top water lure. Ebay always has a good supply of old Heddon lures. That's where I buy Dying Flutters now if I need them because they are discontinued, but ebay prices for them are pretty reasonable as the new-ish ones aren't collectible yet.

Windy conditions
I always say the nicest boating days are the worst fishing days and vice versa. For me there's definitely a point where the wind is too much though, maybe when it hits 20+ mph? My aluminum Lund blows around pretty easily in the wind. To answer the question though I like throwing spinner baits in those conditions, or anything else I can fish fast like that. Swimbaits would be my second choice, or a swimbait on an underspin.

Public Service Announcement. Be smart when moving kayak.
I have some weird upper neck stuff going on lately. Going to a chiro on Thursday for the first time ever, after years of my wife nagging me to because she loves going. Really hoping it's something they can help fix! At the very least maybe help fix my bad posture.

Public Service Announcement. Be smart when moving kayak.
I'm 31 and no stranger to back pain, but over the years I've learned to slow down a bit and think more about those kinds of lifts/movements. It's tough when you're amped up to either get out on the water ASAP or coming back in and already fatigued.

What is the best soft plastics for smallies.
ned rigs. If they are aggressive then I like throwing swim baits.
