Bladed Jigs
Sorry Allen, I saw where this thread was going and I thought guys were avoiding it like the plague. Of course, most line ties aren't welded and a punch tool is an awesome idea. Thank you.

Shocked by ned rig success?
So right on both, thanks. As soon as I posted it, I was thinking I was nuts. Some guy from Texas probably wouldn't be doing that.

Shocked by ned rig success?
Like others here I have fished the Ned rig a lot and caught a lot fish doing the hop, drag, twitch thing. Monday morning I read this thread particularly what Bluebasser said. I went fishing Monday afternoon, had a Ned rig tied on, decided I would try swimming it just off the bottom. Wow! Caught 3 fish doing just that. I always felt that the shape of the Ned head was the unique part. It would just stand up on the bottom. Hence a bottom contact bait. If you are just going to swim it though, what is the difference between a Ned head and a 1/16oz ball head jig. Never underestimate the 1/16oz ball head jig and a ribbon tail grub. Who was it in a pro tournament this year caught limits of small mouth all 4 days and won? Zaldain? He was basically fishing a ball jig with a minnow on it. There is a name for it, Damiki rig? (spelling)?

Bladed Jigs
I'm guessing the reason for your silence is either fear or it is a no brainer answer such as just dremmel the line tie, pry it open, insert blade, and close.

Bladed Jigs
Now that is what I am talking about. What has been mentioned above is not nonsense, D&M Custom had their Piranha bladed jig with an open line tie, this violated the patent with Z Man so if you look now there is a split ring. I guess D&M's work around was to offer a "swim jig" with an open line tie and left it up to the anglers to figure out the rest. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/DM_Custom_Baits_Piranha_II_Swim_Jig/descpage-DMP2.html

Bladed Jigs
Wow! All I wanted was to start a discussion about making bladed jigs. Why, because I am interested in building them and they aren't talked about much in the tackle making forum (maybe I just learned why). Notice I used the generic term bladed jig. Never once mentioned chatter bait or thunder crickets, nor did I say I want to create an exact duplicate of either. I am not creating anything, I want to use other manufacturers existing products to create a bladed jig. However if we are going to get caught up in some legal jargon which I am not proficient in or the technicalities of patent laws. I believe patent is the correct term. Copyright laws protect things like Art, movies, books, ect. Patents protect designs, which is what we are talking about here. Well I did ask several other questions that should be legally okay to answer but everyone wants to focus on the first one. Or we could just move on. I'm a resourceful guy I'll figure it out on my own.

The, "Line-Shy" debate
This has been a good read. I'm gonna say no.

Bladed Jigs
Who makes their own bladed jigs? Anyone come up with a way to make them without the split ring and without a custom cast? I have no interest in casting my own heads. (too late to the party). I saw one method on you tube but that required not only a mold but a modified mold. D&M custom baits makes a piranha swim jig with an open line tie. A blade can be added to this and is an option. So who thinks the split ring doesn't matter? Most comments I read about bladed jigs with split rigs are that the blade does not start up fast enough or at all. How true is this? What about blade styles? Rounded, flat, bent, squared off, pentagon shaped, does it matter? Time and a place for all?

One man small stable boats for small lakes.
Saw an add for this a couple of years ago. Was really intrigued. The twin motors controlled by a foot pedal looked pretty sweet on the video. Great recommendation. Is it as good as advertised?

Inflatable kayaks...
Just get a kayak you will be much happier. If your main concern is your ability to load the kayak onto a vehicle without scratching it. This is a minor concern, there are hundreds of videos illustrating several different methods of doing what you are worried about. My sophisticated piece of equipment to get my kayak onto my car is a rubber backed shower mat. It gets the job done.

Skirt material size question
Sounds about right. Never used living rubber but the silicone skirts are the same size. I use 2 and a half tabs for a jig, 2 tabs for spinners and buzz baits.

Best place to get sun gear
Perhaps some useful info. https://www.sungrubbies.com/blogs/news-articles/90201091-spf-vs-upf-what-is-the-difference I was curious when MN Fisher mentioned the rating on his long sleeve tee's. I like the NRS silk weights. I have a lot of technical sun wear but these are the most comfortable. It really feels like you have nothing on. UPF50 rating.

Bladed Jig / jig Box - Plano Edge
The jig box is the best edge box IMO. Priced right and holds about 75 jigs. I have one box filled all wired tied by me. True, some of the smaller finesse jigs do not fit snug and some larger football heads can't sit next to one another. Once that lid is shut nothing moves. As far as the big football heads, use the middle of the box for the larger heads and alternate their orientation, one goes left to right the next goes right to left.

Kayak drag test
Pretty funny. That video laid all my concerns to rest. An encounter with a police officers would have made this the perfect video. Would have loved to hear Chad explaining what he was doing to the officer.

Bass Fishing's Greatest Record
Agreed. If you read my original post the article that mirrored my thoughts was called "Bass Fishing's Greatest Record". So I ended up using that as the title. I can no longer find this article, too bad. Originally I was going to name the post " The Mass State Record Brings hope" or something to that effect.

Bass Fishing's Greatest Record
Said he didn't lie about the location just before his death. Funny. The outdoor life article is nowhere to be found. That is where he said he did not lie about where it was caught.

Bass Fishing's Greatest Record
Thanks Boomstick. Not sure how much of the articles you read but did you happen to read the part where he swore to the location of his catch on his death bed? I know there has been rumors that he did not give an accurate location back in 75. When I was looking into the state record, I came across some other notable catches in Mass. That article stated that another DD bass came from Sampson Pond. Just briefly looked for it again.
