  1. Hey they work man, bought a bunch of them this spring for my boys to throw and I’ve used them a couple times too when they want to use the same thing dads using. They’ll catch em. Hooks aren’t terrible either
  2. I don’t when I’m burning it or most of the time really. When I want to let it get down and super slow roll it right above the bottom then I’ll use a trailer of some kind. Makes it easier to stay right there and move it super slow.
  3. What is that you’re using for a trailer there? I like the look of it.
  4. I have 4-5 of those custom painted deals right there and really like them as well.
  5. I use this stuff for backing but that’s it
  6. All I got rod/reel wise is a Zillion sv tw. Got lots and lots of baits tho.
  7. I used to have no confidence in jigs and to a lesser extent Texas rigged baits. Threw them a lot and now it’s my go to when times are tough. You can always catch some on a t-rig. As far as the combo. You can’t go wrong with any of St. Croixs offerings, I have a few in different ranges and have been impressed with all. Have heard great things about ALX as well so you’re on the right track. For a reel, I can’t recommend the daiwa tatula sv enough. It’s great for this kind of stuff. Really easy to throw lightly weighted and weightless t-rigs all the way up to heavier jigs. It’s just smooth and really hard to backlash. Really love mine. Have 3 and just got a zillion sv because of how much I like the tatulas.
  8. Ended up buying more than I meant to as always. Spent around $800 in total. Lots of swim jigs. Lots of finesse jigs. Some swimbaits. Some cranks. A couple jerkbaits. And i I bought a zillion sv tw, didn’t show the discount in the cart but when I got the email it was $239.99. ?
  9. I used to watch these guys when I first got really really into fishing. Over time they wore on me though, just got more and more annoying. Other than LFG I can’t stand to watch them anymore and they hardly do “fishing” videos anymore anyways. By the way I’m 32, so probably the older side of their target demo. The baits look ok. They kind of seem like they’re just an extension of the Rage Tail line with the tail flanges and the clam shell packs. However some of the shapes are interesting, I’d like to try the bandito bug and maybe the brush hog type one, and the worms but I’ll try any new worm you show me ?. The thing that intrigues me about the whole deal is how did Scott Martin factor into the equation? He is a partner in the baits too. I know they’ve all collaborated on videos and stuff from time to time, but that really always seemed like Scott was paying them to do it when he was first getting his YouTube channel off the ground. I wonder if they just needed ol Uncle Scott to put up some money, or if he knew the right people to get it off the ground or what? Just seems like an odd pairing for partners in a company, you have these 5 kids and then Scott. Bravo to him though, if nothing else that man is a brilliant businessman. He’ll probably see a sizable return on his investment, whatever that was. These guys have way too many fans who are young and have disposable income for them not to sell a ton of baits. I mean their first 2-3 drops of baits sold out in the first 20 minutes for crying out loud.
  10. I second the missile jigs. Every product they make is quality.
  11. I really like my G. Loomis E6x 7’1” MH/XF jig and worm rod. I also have the 7’5” H/F jig and worm rod and love it too but it’s probably a bit heavier than what you’re looking for.
  12. For the money the Dobyns Fury is hard to beat. If you want to spend a little more or wait until Black Friday and catch a sale, St. Croix Mojo Bass rods are ridiculously nice for the price point (~$130). As far as reels go, I’ve never owned a Quantum so I can’t comment there. However I have used a bunch of Daiwa’s cheaper spinning reels and they’re all great for the money. Again, depending on your budget, I just picked up a Pflueger President XT probably 6 weeks ago. After I took it out the first time I went back the next day and bought a second one for another of my other spinning rods that needed an upgrade. They run about $90 and are really really nice. Good luck to you. Love researching and looking for new combos. Should be a fun one, there’s nothing like fighting a big bass on lighter spinning gear and light line.
  13. I bought a pflueger president xt about a month ago, they come in right at $90. I was so impressed with it I went and got another one for my other spinning rod already.
  14. It’s on nat geo wilds website here to view for free. I wonder if it also is there? If not, I watched it on Hulu the other day. Again, not sure if you all have that either. Seems like theyre trying to put it out there as much as possible to be viewed in a bunch of different formats. So you should be able to find it somewhere. Pretty decent show. Ike isn’t as annoying as usual but he’s still Ike. Well produced for sure. All in all I’d give it about a 7/10.
  15. Academy sells the owner cps centering pins in the store. You can slap them on whatever hook you want and they’re basically the same thing as hitchhikers. Just don’t get as many in a pack. Saves you from having to order online tho.
  16. I just got a Tatula SV TWS recently and have been more than impressed with how easy it is to throw small baits. Really any baits. It’s just all around a great reel IMO.
  17. I had a kastking Spartacus and hated it. Very clunky and cheap feeling. However i I have a lews laser from Walmart on my topwater rod and love it. Easily performs more like a reel in the $120-$150 range and I think I paid maybe $60$65 at Walmart a while back. Bombs casts, easy to adjust, and hardly ever backlashes. Works great with braid, flouro, and mono. I have much more expensive reels and it’s still one of my favorites.
  18. I just got one last weekend and it’s by far the smoothest best feeling reel I own, and I own others that were more expensive. I absolutely love it, planning on picking up a second one this weekend again. So yes, send it in/return exchange it.
  19. I Throw mine on a 7’3” heavy/fast with a 7.1/1 reel. It works but an extra heavy would be better
  20. Fluke on a scrounger has worked well for me too.
  21. I want a Slammer so bad. Which model would you get for starting out? Also, my heaviest rod is a 7’3” heavy Dobyns Fury.
  22. Congrats! my first plopper fish hit it right at my feet fishing from the bank one day and scared the crap out of me! I’ve caught big bass, small bass, bluegill, crappie, and perch on ploppers. Something about them just drive fish nuts.
  23. I caught one of my bigger fish this year on a crush 70? Or 75? Whichever it is, in the ghost shad color I think it’s called. I really like the mvmt l7 too. Have caught lots of fish on them, just restocked and bought a bunch more. Have a bunch of the quake and quake thud lipless too but have had less success with them.
