  1. I use to think they were goofy but I finally got tired of burning the back of my neck so I had Rayjus make me one. It's turned into the best thing for fishing I've ever bought. I don't have any pictures. I got one of their stock designs with ranger merc and minnkota logos on it.
  2. Basscats have been in the mix since the beginning. I think they started out using the Margay
  3. I'm glad I saw this. A buddy wants me to extend one of his Dobyn's crankbait rod handles. Guess it will be a bit more intensive than I thought it would be.
  4. That's a good idea I am going to start doing that. I've always found more stuff when I'm home looking at the recording than when I'm actively scanning.
  5. I have a 7' 6" eyecon ML and I love it in the river. There are days when the bite is super light and hard to feel and I'll go to that rod and I feel every bite and seem to land more fish.
  6. I think that same episode Chris's girlfriend was in the camera boat and got bored so she started fishing and started catching a few behind the camera.
  7. I can wait to see your boat when it comes it. Should be a sweet setup.
  8. Yeah I was already talking to him. He invited me up when he gets it to check it out. I've never had a glass boat before figured I'd give one a shot. I'm a ways from doing anything yet gotta get a new truck first but it will be the future project lol
  9. Not sick just getting bored lol it's a good boat but I haven't duck hunted out of it once since I got it. Just looking for the next project to rig up. That 190 looks perfect for goin to some new places.
  10. Sorry to drag this one back up but I'm starting to really look at the tuffy x190. Looks perfect for bass fishing and is setup in the back for trolling. Has the rails back there you can mount your rod holders to and just go. I also like to travel south a lot to fish and enjoy having something different. I don't see any of them around this area.
  11. correct this is one of the red blanks that MHx offers now it's pretty cool. Color little dark but I think a bright red rod would look a little crazy lol Thank you. I started turning them to fit my hand better. I built a spinnerbait rod and did the same thing I just wasn't proud enough of the final product to post it lol
  12. I used one of the Fuji sets off get bit and I agree the first one is a little to big. I figured since I would be mostly pitching to cover with it i could get by with it for now. The next one will definitely be different guides.
  13. Just finished up my new jig rod. I'm working on building a rod for throwing some bass jigs that I make and this is the first prototype. Mhx 873 blank. I like how it feels. Can't wait to get out fishing with it so I can plan and build version 2
  14. I just built on a Bushido Spinner bait Blank and it feels awesome and I've done my test casting and it casts like a dream. Can't wait to get out on the water and fish with it.
  15. So yeah didn't realize they started a separate rod building forum so now im getting caught up....those look awesome!
  16. I agree I'd be going after that middle one the Hi-Mod one if price isn't an issue. I don't know anything about the Elite Pro so I can't really comment on it.
  17. I'd tell ya look through MHX or Batson both have been great for jig builds. With something that light you might even look at some of their spinning blanks and put a casting seat and everything on it.
  18. I have tried before using long bolts and they came out nice until it was time to cut the tail. I never did get that part of it down and finally gave up.
  19. wow that turned out real nice.
  20. I was going to go ahead and add the 6 but went out and test casted a few times to see how it was doing and it was working really well so I decided to give it a shot. I know i'll end up building another one of these because I've learned so much from doing this first one.
  21. Like Cadman said earlier I haven't heard to many stories of companies raising an issue besides a few that are pretty protective. Which they have every right to protect their stuff. I know when I got my roadrunner mold there was a special disclaimer that came with it and I think that's the only mold that I've got with it. GY licensed do-it to make a Senko mold and their only stipulation was that Do-IT was stamped in each cavity so that you could tell someone used the senko licensed mold.
  22. Definitely meant as a compliment and not me trying to take your idea but I've been working on guide placement on a 6' 9" spinnerbait rod for awhile using microguides and I was considering spiral wrapping cause I was having a hard time getting the train right to where I wasn't having the line touch the blank under load. But after seeing your work there I'm seriously thinking about going home and starting over again and doing the spiral. I bought the micro set though that had a 8 then 2 6's and then 8 4's. I'm thinking I can use the 8 and both 6's for the transition and the 4's all the way under the blank.
  23. Can't wait to see what ya start turning out.
  24. Well here is the St.Croix fresh off of the dryer. I'm extremely happy with how it turned out. The colors are awesome and really pop and the feel with the blank is awesome. This is the St.Croix SCIII 6'3" MXF blank with ATC guides. Its getting cold out up here so hopefully the sauger are on their way towards the tail waters cause im ready to go try it out. I'm definitely glad I didn't build the Rainshadow and this one together cause now I have notes for what to change on the Rainshadow. The biggest being I'm going to put a bigger rear grip section on the next one. Mostly just to try to get more weight towards the rear of the rod. This one is a little tip heavy but being as its built for ultra light reels and low weight parts so I'm not totally worried about it just like to get better with each rod and try something different. I apologize for a couple of the pictures. I'm not much of a photographer but got the expensive camera and don't use it. These were on an iphone lol.
  25. I've made a bunch of progress on the St.Croix just haven't had time for pictures. Hoping to have it ready for the first coat of finish soon. Got my cork in for the Rainshadow blank yesterday so probably get it glued up and on the lathe this weekend.
