Red colored jigs and trailers?
They also have the red fish scale skirt tabs. I use to make skirts with em and put em on green pumpkin head and it was a killer.

Several questions for you rod builders
Agreed those are my favorite to use. The TVS spinning seats I like a lot. I've been wanting to build and make a cool insert vs using the carbon one.

Airbrush parts
Hey guys. Came across my air brushes that I haven’t touched in maybe 10 years now. Ones the siphon feed Paache that they still make so no issues there. But my other is a gravity feed Airbrush City GD102. Obviously when you do a google search for something and the first thing is an old eBay posting your probably SOL. But curious if anybody knows were or if I could find parts for this brush still. There was a small coned shaped tip that screwed into the front of the main body that broke from its threads last time I used it. I wasn’t sure if this was a generic part I could find anywhere or just place it on the shelf and buy a new gravity feed. Any help is appreciated but I know it’s a slim chance lol.

Custom Rods by Ghoti
I'm the same as you guys. I tried the pen and just couldn't do it. I am a computer guy and like working in Illustrator so I just design what I want and let Decal Connection handle the rest.

What makes the best spinnerbaits transmit vibration/feel?
I know there were a few guys around here that were making them on frames so light they were junk or would break after a few fish. They just made sure to make a lot of them to change out during a day. Was said the vibration they got with the frames made a difference. I can't say that's fact. Just something I've seen before.

Help on having a custom spiral wrap rod built
Easy rut to fall in. Every rod I build for myself I make myself do something I've never done just to get the experience so I have an idea when I go to do it on a customer rod.

Good Read about Smallmouth (book)
I enjoyed it more for the talk about how the fish acts in its environment. I definitely didn't go into it looking for techniques. I enjoyed his explanation of finding "home" and how the fish will relate to "home" during given conditions. I just started reading the In Fisherman book until my dog at it yesterday. Already got another ordered. Definitely some good info in what I read already.

Dobyns repair
I repair a lot of dobyns. I fix all my buddy's rods and he has a deal with dobyns so they are all dobyns and I agree they are a pain to get the finish off. There is no clean way to do it. Only way I can is sit down with a razor blade and just very carefully work it down. Once you get down by the blank you can usually smooth it enough to get the new wrap on. A couple of his I've repaired guides so much cause of guide rings falling out that I have to do an under wrap to cover up the rough look. Only had to do that once and it was on a flipping rod so wasn't to worried about it. But yeah if I have a St. Croix repair next to a Dobyns in the time it takes me to get the guide off and blank cleaned up on the Dobyns I've already got the old wrap and guide off and new guide wrapped on and ready for finish on the St Croix.

Things that make you mad on the water
I use to get worked up about everything but now I just try to turn those things into positives. Jet Ski's can be annoying but can get areas stirred up and fish moving. I was fishing a narrow river last year on a row of boulders toward the channel. Mind you I wasn't setup in the channel I was out of everybody's way but the pleasure boaters were making it a point to try and run close to me to upset me. I was still pulling smallmouth off of those boulders. I've been fishing outside a Marina. And the rule at this place is they sound their horn before rounding the corner out to the river to let anybody know they are coming. We would wait for that horn and run over and get ready. Soon as they came out they had the smallmouth fired up and we would straight catch em for awhile. I learned a long time ago that getting upset while on the water is useless. I tend to stay away from tournaments as it seems like getting upset about everything is part of it for a lot of those guys.

What was your worst fishing purchase decision ever?
This Think it was back in the late 90's. I still have the multi tool it came with. Only part of the kit that worked.

Homemade Fluid Bed
Sorry guys I didnt expect to see this old post back to the top again lol. I posted this back in 2013 and the setup is still working great pumping out jigs. The only change I made was I epoxied a 6" length of PVC to the center of one of the cups. I did this to concentrate the powder closer which would make a perfect depth to dip spinnerbaits and buzzbaits into.

Trolling for bass, good or evil?
Trolling if you can master it and get it right is very effective. I have my bass boat setup to do it. But I also don't go everywhere to fish for bass and when I do travel Largemouth is usually the bottom of the list anyway. Like mentioned earlier in a weedy lake or something no I'll stay up front casting. But when I go to some of the big deep lakes like in the Ozarks, I'll have my trolling rods all ready. And I'll run around till I start seeing something on the screen and start trolling around the area to try and learn what's going on. If I run into a good group, I'll pull up the trolling rods and spend awhile casting. If you've only got a couple days to fish a place and need to find fish quick its a great tool and technique to use.

Ultimate 1/2oz jig rod
I've found myself building shorter pitching rods in the last couple years. the majority of places I fish I'm pitching with trees up over head and its to easy to get the tip of the rod stuck up in the tree. I've been slowly migrating into the high 6' range.

Micro Guide Sizing?
Production rod like that I would bet they are 4's.

Let's discuss hook keepers
I like the one Cho posted above and I like to use the old fashioned one loop with the two feet to wrap around style. Usually on my spinning blanks and I always put them facing down. Seems to work better for keeping the baits from getting tangled on stuff. I haven't had an issue with the line catching them.

first time builder, need direction
I know you weren't asking me but I've used the 16 - 8 - 5.5 reduction with 1000 size reels and had good results.

first time builder, need direction
I just like trying stuff that the manufacturers will not try. Different handle lengths and reel positions and guide trains. Like said above everything from the big companies has to be standard for everybody to use. If you are using a production rod and something on it gives you an idea. You have the ability to build your idea and actually test it.

How Important is Building on the Spline?
I put the blank on the floor of my shop (clean area) and roll it back and forth real slow and watch the tip. I mark the spot where the tip is off the floor at the highest point of the little arc it will make. Then I build on that axis. It is usually the straightest. The last build I did was on a St. Croix SCIII blank and I did this test and I couldn't find the straightest axis the tip just stayed in place while I rolled it. then I went ahead and splined it just to give me a reference point the build on.

Spiral, Roberts, Acid Wrap
To my shop I go to play. That's a very interesting point.

What are your SI Enhance settings normally at?
Its different for me every time I'm out it all depends on water conditions and bottom composition. I'll usually keep sharpness off while scanning for cover or structure. when I see something I want to look at more for fish I'll turn the sharpness on or turn the sensitivity down a bit so that the fish stand out more against the darker background.

MHX Elite Pro Series
Thank you. I have heard nobody talk about the NFC blanks and I have been looking at them. I have liked the last MHX 873HM I built and plan to build more of them but of course we always look around and I was checking those NFC's but the price made me wonder if they were really worth it.
