holiday park
Nice fish Bocabasser. Holiday Park is one of my favorite places to fish. I will be at Sawgrass for a club tourney (Sunrise Bass club) on sunday and I am looking foward to it. It has been a while. Hopefully the fish are biting there as well.

I read all the comments and I understand that I probably wasted my money. Since I have these baits now, I will put them to use and find a way to make them payoff...in practice and when it counts. If I cant catch a damm thing, I will give them away. Thank you for your honest and thoughtful remarks.

Thanks for all your replies. I will definately give them a try. Hopefully I will catch a nice one during a tourney down here in the swamp of south florida and they will pay for themselves. If they dont produce, I will give them away to the kids...hey there is always ebay?

I just bought the 006 and pro 006 sets. Are they any good ? Or will they take up a new section of my overstuffed tackle box. The infomercial looked convincing.

Lake Okeechobee, Fl
The fishing was very slow in the Lake O rim canal on sunday. I caught a speckled perch on a black trick worm, and a 15 lb gar on a june bug trick worm. The son caught a 1.5 lb bass. I heard reports that the fish were in the lake near observation shoal, but I didnt want to chance the low water. Im going to have to take a day and explore lake and learn the routes to the good areas.

Lake Okeechobee, Fl
Anyone been fishing the Big O recently? There is a club tourney out of Clewiston this sunday. I plan on going east on the rim canal and fishing the cuts and dynamite holes. Anyone got any other suggestions? Also, where is the east and west wall? How do I get there? Thanks

I wanna go FASTER!
My advice is to sell your boat and look for a faster hull with a larger engine. You will be happier in the long run. another site to check out is screamandfly.com That site is pretty cool. Its all about racing mods and there is a tech forum. Check it out.

Holiday Park
Holiday Park west of Ft Lauderdale Fl has been very slow due to the higher than normal water for this time of year. The bass are generally dispersed off in the shallow marsh flats. If you can get to them (1" -2" draft), you can have a good day. Head south toward the tamiami trail. Last year at this time, Holiday was excellent because the low water forced the bass into the perimeter canals. My advice is to skip Holiday and alligator alley for now and fish Loxahatchee(South Palm Beach Co. or Lake Okeechobee(Clewiston). Lake Ida (Palm Beach Co.) might be a good bet as well. The lakes around Miami international airport are good for peacock bass. I hope this helps.

South Florida Meet?
The fishing has been average- not spectacular like last year. The water levels are up compared to last year and we are going into the rainy season now. For me personally, we had a baby girl last October so I have been busy more often than not on the weekends. What happened to Avid? Did I miss something?

What is the best outboard in terms of reliability and cost of ownership?
I you decide to switch to another brand motor, dont forget the controls. They usually do not interchange. They cost several hundred bucks. A 1990 XR4 150 is a great motor. Maybe your outboard mechanic is what needs replacing.

gelcoat oxidation remedies
In my experience, it depends on the age of the fiberglass and the degree of the oxidation damage. I bought a used 1984 procraft that was stored outside for a few years. The glass is not pitted but heavily oxidized on the top. I have tried polishes, compounds and wet sanding/polish. It will look good for a while, but the oxidation will return. The only solution for my boat is to wet sand and clear coat or paint. Hopefully your boat is not that badly oxidized and the compound will clean her up. Maybe some of the others have a better solution or recommend a product.

Why do people in FL use Hand Cont Trolling Motors on the BOW?
Ive got a MinKota 80# tiller motor and it works great on my 17 procraft. Lots of thrust, throws a nice wake The bow floor space is somewhat limited, and I stand 70% of the time. The only time i think about a foot control is when the wind kicks up and I am forced to constantly adjust my position.

loxahatchee
Hey Bocabasser, The only day I can fish this week is friday morning. Give me a call. 954-600-9648 Kevin

loxahatchee
I fished at Lox(south) last week. The flats fishing was good but the gnats there were relentless. There was no wind and we were praying for a breese to chase them away. I was on the flats where the west canal bends northwest. The area near the sawgrass is relatively clear of submerged weeds. The crankbaits and spinners were working as well as trick worms. Boca, Have you ever tried fishing the area south of the Lox refuge? Where the tourist airboats beach?Ive often wondered if I could launch my procraft on that side. The water is usually lower over there. Has anyone built a ramp or is it still sand and mud?

Manatees in Lake Okechobee
Since it was a club tournament, there is no money for 5th place. Its not really about the money, I fish for the fun and bragging rights 8-)

Manatees in Lake Okechobee
I was fishing in a tourney last sunday out of Clewiston and I saw 2 manatees during the morning. The were feeding on shoreline plants. One was in the channel leading out of Clewiston, the other was near Belle Glade. With some of the big gators ive seen, Im amazed they seem to coexist there. Any others sightings on the Big O or other inland lakes? I finished 5th with 5@ 9.92 lbs, with my big fish being 3.1 lbs using junebug trick worms. I lost a couple of big ones (bedding bass) at the dynamite holes using frogs.

South Florida Boat Show
I was at the Dania BP yesterday. Those boat prices were pretty scary. I think I will stick with my 84 procraft 1750.
