Fins vs Ravens
I think it will be a defensive battle in the first half with a couple of field goals. In the second half, the offenses will open up. My prediction: Miami 23 Baltimore 20

Loxahatchee on sat/sun
Here are the pics. I believe that is a chain pickerel. It doesnt have the long snout like the garfish.

Loxahatchee on sat/sun
On saturday, I went to the canal east of the ramps where it turns to the north. I caught a 3lb bass and a 20" chain pickerel. Both fish were caught using a deep running black/gold rapala. On sunday, I had only 2 hits. I caught a 1 lb and 5.9lb bass due north of the ramps about 100 yards into the flats. I cut a new trail through about 3 ft of sawgrass and lily pads into a 1 acre pond in the sawgrass that by the looks of it was previously not accessed often. Both fish were caught using a wat/red trick worm. Both days were windy and cloudy, and I was fishing 11AM-3PM. I will post pictures later after I resize them.

Anyone else have lower back pain?
Once your back is feeling better, do abdominal exercises several times a week. If you keep your abs in shape, you will have less problems. Dont overdue it in the beginning and keep at it.

Sharpening your skills.
Great post. I have fished at night a few times and you definately have to sharpen your senses. I found myself getting snagged alot. I will give your suggestions a try.

Lowrance h2o handheld gps
I have the H2O color. It is really cool and it has GPS groundspeed. It works great. You can use it without the nav software, but it lacks detail. Battery life is so-so ( 5-6 hours) if you leave the screen lit up. I need to get the 12v hookup.

Miami Canal report
I went fishing on the miami canal off of alligator alley this fri afternoon. The small bass were hitting like crazy. I was catching them with almost every cast. The biggest went about 3 lbs. I was using unweighted worms. I tried lots of colors and they all worked well except for the methiolate colored worms. I still havent caught anything with that color, so back in the depths of the box they go. There were alot of gators (big ones) sunning themselves along the bank. Most of them didnt even flinch as we passed by. A guy fishing on the boat dock said he caught a couple of peacocks using a orange/white floating rapala. I have never seen peacocks caught in that area. If they are, the more the merrier.

AC/DC still rocks
I got a chance to see AC/DC during the early 80's while they (and I) were younger. My ears are still ringing from that concert. I saw them at the Hollywood Sportatorium in Hollywood. FL It was the "Hells Bells" tour and they were touring with Judas Priest. I was told we had a great time.

Jets vs Dolphins Week 17
Moving the Fins vs Jets game to 4PM is a advantage for the Fins. The jets will know that the Pats have won taking a little more air out of their balloon. Farve looks tired and ready to call it quits. If Miami can play mistake free, they will win. If the Fins lose, it is still been a fantastic season. I will tip my hat to the Pats at that point, having overcame alot of adversity and injuries. Go Miami !

Hello from Japan
Welcome. What is the bass fishing scene like over there in Japan?

1987 Johnson 110 just quit
Check the kill switch if you have one. Visually inspect the motor wiring, and fuel lines. If it did overheat, it should start back up after it cools off. I had a 140 evinrude overheat while at full throttle. I waited a hour, then it started right back up.

get rid of mice in boat
I had a problem with cats once. I left my boat on my driveway for a few days while I was doing some remodeling in my garage. A pregnant cat had a litter of kittens in a coveyhole under the passenger console. Cute little black with blue eyed kittens. I left the boat in the driveway for a couple of weeks until they moved out. If I ever have to leave it out again, I will definately remember the dryer sheets!

Engine quits when shifted into reverse
It could be bad fuel, or idle adjustment. Your plugs could need to be replaced. Pull your prop and check for fishing line wrapped around the shaft. My merc 150 needs alot of gas on start up. Make sure the bulb is primed, turn the key and hold for 5 seconds. Set the neutral throttle to 1/2. Turn/push the key to start. Mine usually starts on the 2nd or 3rd time. Unless you know what you are doing, it might be wise to have the motor checked out. This little problem could be a signal that your motor is in need of servicing and compression test. If your carbs are getting gummed up from ethanol mixed fuel, they could be running lean. Not a good thing on a 2 stroke.

Would you stay here???
Might want to call ahead to have the room fumigated for the chiggers, bedbugs, and cockroaches. )

Loxahatchee (Lox Rd)
Im assuming you will be bringing a boat and motor along. Bank fishing from Lox is really a waste of time. If you bank fish, use live shiners. I would fish the flats between the 2nd and 3rd spilways heading west. Lox is a tough place to fish, you really have to go there alot to figure it out. I live 20 minutes from there, and I still get skunked sometimes. If you go into the flats, use your GPS. It is easy to get disoriented if you head deep into the sawgrass. Use flukes, worms, frogs, crankbaits. If you are visiting from out of town with a boat and motor, I would head to the Holeylands(US27), Alligator alley(I-595), or Sawgrass(US27) instead. It is easier and generally better fishing

You need to give more information if you want helpful advice. Year, HP, Brand, etc

OK I'VE HAD IT!!!!
In Lake Ida, lake Osbourne, and the canals adjacent. Use crankbaits or live shiners from shore. If you have a boat, it definately improves your chances.

Loxahatchee (Lox Rd)
I went out saturday afternoon. I caught 8 bass up to 4 lbs and a 2 lb cichlid. Those cichlid's are a blast on light tackle. The water was very clean and the depth seemed a little bit lower. Water temp was 64-65 deg. Partly cloudy skies. The spillway by the launch was closed. The bigger fish were caught in the west canal using 5" storm shad swim baits casted right down the center of the canal west by the bend. I went into the flats and checked out 2 cuts between the 2nd and 3rd spillway. The water was clean but the bass were aquarium sized that day. I used a 3" gold/black rapala and wat/red trick worms. If the water managers dont mess this place up, it is going to be real good this spring.
