hyperdermic needle and soft plastics?
I work in the plastics industry. If you could get ahold of some expanded foam pellets, and inject them with a scent..it might work. Shoot, I may give it a try myself.

bowfin
I catch them alot in south florida. As was posted, they are called mudfish down here. They are a good fight but I hate catching them because they can destroy a good crankbait. They are a nusance.

Yamaha 4strokes engine life
Wow. A 2008 with 500-800 hours? Thats like 1.5 - 2 hours a day running, 7 days a week, for a whole year. That is alot of hours for a 1 year old engine. I was told by a outboard mechanic that 1000 hours is the typical hour lifespan for a 2 stroke motor if it is properly maintenanced. For a 4 stroke, Im not sure.I would definately have a mechanic check that motor top to bottom. If it was me, I would look for something with less hours. Just my $.02

Are you in enough sahpe if
The worst thing you can do is panic. I would swim as far as I could then swim on my back for a while to recover. Then keep swimming some more until I reach shore. Hopefully there would not be any gators to wrestle. I recently had to swim test 50 yards fully clothed in 2 minutes. The added drag definately makes it tougher. When boating, I always have the vests on while underway and then take them off while fishing.

Florida fishing finally getting better!
Are your pictures below 150 KB size? When I post pictures, I usually have to resize them.

Lox(south)
Right now, I would fish Holiday Park, Sawgrass, or the alley. It is much easier, and it is red hot there right now. All of the largest bass (4-6) that I have caught at Lox were caught on artificial worms. The largest fish I caught from there is 6 lbs using a red/wat trick worm. Red/pearl color worms, and black/blue, blk/char work good too. I have used frogs, and had alot of hits, but not many hook ups. Lox is very difficult at times to fish, especially when the water is high. The bass become dispersed and move into the flats. This constant change in water depth, open/closed spilways, cold fronts, wind, moon phases, etc. will keep you guessing. When I fish there, I usually start out in the canals, pitching large assortment of top water plugs and crankbaits. I also like to fish the edges of the canals with the worms, casting parallel to the shore along the drop offs and fish them slowly. If that isnt working, or I want to change up, I head into one of the cuts that will take you into the flats. In there I use mainly trick worms, flukes and a small floating gold/black rapala because the water is shallow. Right now the hydrilla is starting to get thick and the water is receding a little bit. To get into the flats now, you have to buzz through the hydrilla quick or you might get stuck. Bocabasser is one of the authorities on Lox, hopefully he can chime in. Hope this helps.

Istapoka
I fished a tourney there 2 years ago. We stayed at Hendersons Cove. We placed 4th. Our big bass was 5.01 lbs using a white horny toad. We fished mainly along the southern shore area because at the time thats where the clean water was. I lost a big one at the mouth of Joesaphine creek. The guys that won the tourney were using pumpkin/red trick worms in the holes in the hydrilla south of the island in the SW corner of the lake. The lake was 2-4 feet deep for the most part. Hope some of this helps. The Golden Corral in Lake Placid, is a great place to chow down cheap. Steak wasnt too bad.

Lox(south)
I went out to Lox today for two hours to test out a prop, and while I was there I took a few casts. On my third cast, I caught a 10 lb mudfish that ruined my $8 crankbait. A couple of casts later, I got a 4 pounder on gold/black rapala, and a 3 pounder on a wat/red G tail worm. The fish were definatey biting today. I was fishing the first bend - east of the boat ramp.

Elecrtic fuel pumps
Are any of you guys running electric fuel pumps on your rigs? I got a older bass boat with a merc 150 and it seems like the pumps dont last as long as they used to (ethanol). Im looking for another option.

Water levels at sawgrass recreational park
At Sawgrass, the perimeter canals are deep. You should be fine venturing into the flats with your boat. The finger canals are located on the west side of US 27, Sawgrass is on the east side. There are boat ramps every few miles along the west side of US27 to access the "fingers". I hear the fishing is good at both locations.

Re-finding old movies
I always check AMC (American movie classic) channel on direct tv. Some of the old movies are really good if you take time to watch them. My favorites are the WWII and cowboy westerns. Example: In Harms way Casino Royale From here to Eternity etc

Believe in "E.T."?
I watched "ancient aliens" last night. It is basically a rehashing of the "Chariots of the gods" by Erich Von Daniken. It is very interesting to think about how the ancients were able to cut laser straight lines in granite blocks that weigh thousands of pounds. Or, drill perfectly straight holes that today would have needed diamond tipped drill bits. Personally, it is possible that we are being visited by aliens although I have never seen anything. There are two other theories that are interesting as well. One is that there have been 4 different civilizations and near extinctions of man during the earths history. The other is time travel. In this theory, the ancient astronauts are actually people from the future going back in time. Can anyone say "Giant Hadron Collider?" There is a russian theoretical scientist that thinks that this technology might be close to creating a time travel device. Another mind warping show is "parallel universes" - In essence, our universe is a bubble of matter between two planes of time/space. Our reality is just one of thousands of possibilities. Tough for me to wrap my mind around that. I guess that means I could be bass fishing at the Stick marsh and Falcon Lake at the same time....yipee!

Salmon recipes needed...................... Glenn response required! due to Pac NW
I have a Salmon recipe that we enjoy. Marinate salmon fillets(with skin on) in ranch salad dressing for 2- 4 hours. I like hidden valley brand. Remove from Ranch marinade and put into grilling basket (long handle) The basket helps keep it together while turning. In a cup mix: 1/4 cup soy sauce 1/4 cup teriaki sauce freshly minced garlic ( 3-4 pieces) Grill over charcoal (perferred) or gas. Brush the sauce over the fillets while grilling. Turn every 2-3 minutes and repeating with the sauce until done.

March 1
Those will be brutal conditions, especially with the wing blowing. If you go, some hot soup in a thermos for a snack, and of course alot of hot coffee. Might I suggest some gloves as well. I was in a tourney on lake Okeechobee last november and a cold front rolled in the night before. Upper 30's, 20-25 wind. I didnt bring my heavy gear and I froze my butt off. It was miserable, out of the 14 boats entered, no one caught a keeper 13" fish. Good luck if you go.
