LLC or Sole Proprietorship
I am think about starting a small service company in south florida. My plan is that it will eventually grow into a larger business in time. I have a regular full time night job which pays well, but the hours are starting to get to me. My plan is to work both jobs and see what shakes out. Which type of bussiness model would be better regarding taxes and fees? Which is annually more expensive? LLC or SP? My understanding is that a LLC will give my personal assets protection by forming the entity and working for the entity. Any pro / cons or any other good advice? Any clever advertising or marketing ideas?

Can my Geenoe + Trolling Motor go on Stickmarsh/Farm 13??
You can fish areas near the boat ramp and on the north shore. Thats about it.

Jack Plate
A jack plate does 2 things, it sets the motor back 6", 12" + to allow the prop to spin in cleaner non cavitated water. Another benefit is that the motor can be raised to its highest point to reduce drag allowing for greater top speed. If you have a V4,V6,or V8 outboard, its a good thing to have. I am sure others will expand on my comments.

America's Most Dangerous Cities
I miami, there are some areas the cops are leery to go to. We get AK47 shooting on a weekly basis now adays. Home invasion robberys with automatic weapons. A couple of days ago, a guy mowing his lawn was shot 4 times at random. Drive by shootings, road rage shooting, as well as the usual armed robberies, etc. One time, I was on an expressway in Miami and I noticed a bumper sticker on a car in the lane next to me. It was a yellow smiley face that said " Thanks for Not Shooting".

vacationing from scotland
Keep an eye out for snakes. We have the poisinous varieties here in florida. The water mocassin will aggressively swim right up to you. Some suggestions: Regarding plastic worms, I like trick worms. The colors-watermelon/red, pumpkin/red, junebug, and black are good colors to use depending on the clarity of the water. Use darker colors in muddy water. Rapala crankbait (gold/black)(floating-dive to 6FT) is one of my favorite and will usually work anywhere. If you like flyfishing, white or yellow - small to medium poppers will do the trick. Use a 10# leader. White or yellow bettle spins will catch you panfish, and small bass.

Florida Gar vs Shiners
There is not much you can do except move to a different spot. Fishing with DR lures and plastics might be a better option in gar infested water.

What's the Most Fish You've Caught on Consecutive Casts?
I caught more than 20 small bass ( I stopped counting at 20) in a row at alligator alley a few weeks ago. It was crazy good fishing if you like catching small (12") bass. Im sure there are other guys around here with similiar reports. Right now in So Fl, it is a great time to teach kids how to bass fish. Any kind of small worm or bait works. I went out yesterday and it was the same. I was pulling the baits out of their little mouths hoping a bigger bass would go after it.

I have a question about repairing lower gear housing and starter on Mercury?
The housing can be welded if the damage is minor. The starter can be rebuilt and lubed if your mechanicly inclined. I would replace the starter with a rebuilt unit. Probably around $125. Nothing worse than having a unreliable starter.

Waterboarding vs Beerboarding.
In my opinion waterboarding is a PC way of interogation. They should be using brass knuckles and blow torches against terrorist suspects. Hope i didnt cross the line here.

A new pond and an old one too

Johnson 150 Idling problem
Seriously, Im no outboard mechanic, but Have you ever changed the spark plugs? How old is the gas? There could be issues with the timing or ignition. Waytoslow knows the Jonnyrudes so Im sure he will give you better information. Hope you get it sorted out.

Lake Okeechobee
Big Sugar is probably filling its canals to the brim before the water is too low for the pumps and flood control gates to supply. I guess the SFWMD is scratching their heads about all the water they released in the ocean a couple of months ago.

lox 5-4-09
20 bass is definately a good day out there, especially during 1-4. Yea it is getting low, I went out there to check out the water levels last friday and the hydrilla mats were thick and out of the water. I going to have to use my ski prop for that mess of hydrilla. Lets see the pics!

miami airport lakes snook tarpon peas?
Yea gar tracker, the surrounding lake front apartments(shacks)are a real eye sore. Urban blight on steriods. The funky food aromas, auto exhaust from the highway and jet fuel from the airport combine to enhance the experience. The canals are loaded with shopping carts, tires, and junk so keep an eye out. Ahhh. beautiful miami

miami airport lakes snook tarpon peas?
I went there once and I will probably wont go back. As with most miami parking lots, there is a guy there collecting money for parking-who really knows if he is actually working for the city. The jet skiers think they own the lake and the ramp. The jet skis idiots come right at you at top speed and veer away at the last second. I was so ticked I was ready for some target practice, but I just decided to pack it up and leave. While trying to load my boat, a punk on a ski decided to do tight circles on his 1500cc right behind the transom of my boat throwing wake over the back of my boat.. Of course I yelled at the ignorant punk but he no speaky the english. By the way, I fished the lake and canals areas north and east of the ramps and I got skunked. Floating 6" crank baits usually work good for peas and snook. They like a fast retrieve. The only cool thing about the area was watching the 747 jets taking off right overhead.

Hydrafoil? Are they worth it or a joke?
Thanks for responding. I will give you more information. I am using a 6" CMC manual jack plate adjusted to 2.5" below the pad. If I go 1/4" higher, I lose water psi when fully trimmed out at WOT. I use a tempest plus 24P (55 MPH)and a 23P laser2(50 MPH) and a 4 blade michigan 22P (50 MPH). The tempest I bought used and the prop does not have much cup. Should I have the prop cupped? The boat is a procraft is a fish & ski 1750V which might be a little bit heavier in the nose, plus it has dual consoles. I think I am expecting to much, I want the bow standing on the motor at WOT. LOL ( I think I spend to much time dreaming at S&F)

Question about boring the piston cylinders on a Mercury 150 and about procraft boat?
A 1988 procraft of that vintage is only worth $3000-$4500. The motor is blown, the hull is suspect until proven otherwise. The trailer will need bearings and tires. It adds up quickly. You should spend a little more money and buy a better condition running mid-late 90's boat motor and trailer that was checked out by a outboard mechanic. Thats what I would do. I own a 1984 procraft/150 merc so I am talking from experience.

Hydrafoil? Are they worth it or a joke?
Question for WtoS, or anyone else.. I have thought about adding one to my 17' procraft / 150 merc. I dont get alot of bowlift regardless of the prop. My boat runs fairly level at WOT (5800) with a rooster tail even with or above the cowl. Will the foil have any positive attributes while on pad at 55MPH? Will the motor get more leverage on the hull with the foil? Will the foil get more air under the hull reducing drag by lifting the bow higher? When I am trimming the motor up, will I be essentially trimming the foil out of the water? Will it affect H2O psi? Thx

Stick Marsh/Farm 13
The winds are finally getting back to normal. Should be a good weekend at the Farm.
