Moorehaven Lake O
I did a little bit of wind surfing from Harney pond to Clewiston. The wet suit really helps when the wind chill is in the 40's. The Ranger Comanche gets about 20 knots without power. I think I will enter her in the next American's Cup Regatta. Brutal conditions to say the least.

Great weekend. Things are good in S. Florida.
Nice haul of fish Kevin. That golf course really hold a nice variety of quality fish. Do you have a golf cart set up with a cooler and rod holders?

Moorehaven Lake O
Just our club's luck. We usually always plan our tourney's out of Clewiston. Lately, the guys have been running out to the box from Clewiston. Some of the guys with smaller/slower boats were apprehensive about running across the lake, and were fishing the Dynamite holes. So we plan our next tourney out of Moorehaven and we get the cold front. ;( I am still hoping the weatherman will be off a day or two. Thanks for the info Sal.

Moorehaven Lake O
I got a tourney out of Moorehaven this sunday. I have not been out to Lake O in a couple of months. How is the bite recently around the monkey box and the shoal. What would be best at first light, and then later after the sun comes up. thanks.

Lox Refuge
Nice bass SFLA. Did you guys fish out of the Lee's road ramp? How is the water level. Going down?

Holiday PArk
To use the MM41 ramp(it is on the east bound side) you have to drive a few miles west of it and exit at the miccosokie gas station exit. Turn left and cross over the highway overpass to get to the east bound lanes. A lot of guys illegally do a u turn in front of the launch area, I would not advise it. The ramp/parking is good, but there are no facilities.I believe that ramp is the farthest west you can launch from before you get to indian land.

Holiday PArk
I posted a report about MM41 a couple of weeks ago. The water was 3-4' deep through the weir running west on the north side canal. On that day, the fishing was best on either side of the weir. The water was fairly clear. I ran all the way out to the flood control pump houses near the miccosokie gas station and the garfish were really thick and the water was muddy. The big rest area east of MM41 has a very shallow weir to the west of the Miami canal. If you go there with a fibraglass boat, watch out for the submerged rocks.

Clear coating opinions
Thanks for the info guys. On another site it was recommended to use 320 to rough up the surface before applying the clear. It didn't make any sense to me either. I am not going to do that. Dupont MS1 is a marine grade clear that had a lot of positive feedback. It was reported that if you keep your hull trailered, it lasted for 7+ years with no flaking or peeling. Most of the flaking problems reported occured on hulls that were left floating storage at docks. I will research the Awlgrip clear. Superior UV protection is definately a plus. With either brand, surface preparation will be the key. I will probably go ahead and paint the topsides and I will post before and after pictures. thanks again.

Clear coating opinions
I want to spray the topside of my 87 ranger with Imron MS1 clearcoat with a binks style sprayer. I know I have to sand the glass with no finer than 320 and wipe the surfaces down with quickclean. Air temps should be 75 degrees or higher and the humidity should be below 80 percent or lower. Anyone else refinished their boat by spraying clear coat? Am I missing anything? Any tips or advice? I have never painted a boat or car before. I realize it will be a lot of work and I am up for the job. The boat finish is really dull. I have experimented with rubbing compounds and polishes, and wet sanding, it really didn't make much improvement. When the hull is wet it looks good. I have though about vertglass, but the Imron sounds like it will last longer.

Alabama vs Florida who wins it?
Alabama's defense should make the difference. Turnovers will be key. I see a very close game decided in the last minute.

1,000 LB Gator killed in Vidor Tx.
I saw a fat monster gator sunning on the bank of Uncle Joe's cut at Lake O earlier in 2009. The other gators (8') nearby looked like iguanas.

Turkey Sammiches
Well it is 3 days after the official turkey dinner and my wife told me to finish the turkey because she is done with it. There is still about 3 pounds of white and dark meat left and I am tired of the turkey and mayo/miracle whip samiches. Can you guys give me any ideas on some way to finish this bird other than using it as bait?

I had Hawg for Thanksgiving...
Right on Kev. A nice way to kick off the holiday.

anyone that knows alot bout jack plates
You need to get the correct pitch prop on your boat before you can intelligently evaluate the jack plate. If your motor prop shaft (bullet) is 3.5" below the pad, you will be in the ballpark. Your jack plate should be centered at this height to allow some adjustment higher and lower. Most bass boats use a 20" motor. I don't think your motor is the problem. Some hulls do not ride high in the bow. It could be anything from weight distribution, hull design, and excess weight ( IE soggy flotation) or a lack of horsepower which you have with the 115HP vs 150 HP. Running the jack-plate upside down sounds a bit crazy and is not necessary.

Re: Florida Everglades Invasion of Peacock Bass 11-7-09
Our club has decided to include peacock bass during our tourneys. We use the 13" rule for both species. Weigh in's are always interesting to see what the other guys have caught.

Everglades bass, oscar and cyclids 11-20-09
Although the videos are cool, people should not throw your fish back next to gators. They lose their fear of man and they will come up to your boat, or on shore for the next unsuspecting angler, looking for a snack.

banged up
The Fins were using a tackle as the center because of the injuries and they still won the game. I love the never quit attitude. The Fins are not the most talented (not yet) but they play hard for 60 minutes.Chad Henne looks like he might be a good one. We have a real tough schedule remaining, especially with the injuries to Ronnie Brown, Ferguson, Smiley, and Berger. Like Bocabasser said, they are banged up. I think we still have a slim shot to win the division. We will not beat anyone in the playoffs, but we are headed in the right direction. Another draft or two and we will be competing for the SB.

Florida Spawn??
I saw the same along the sandy bottom areas along alligator alley last weekend. I think there are a few that get started early

1996 Mercury 150HP pee water ???
Does your boat have a water temperature gauge and water PSI gauge? If it doesnt, get them installed. Do not wait for a alarm to tell you something is wrong. If you over trim your motor, you can lose water pressure.

Battery charging question
Very clever. Thanks.

Alligator Alley MM41
A slow day at MM41. My two biggest bass were 2.5 lb I caught 12 dinks under 13" as well. I fished the north side of the alley and ran west to the flood control gates. Alot of gars and mudfish out there. The water was the clearest in the north side canal along the alley next to the weirs one mile from the ramp. It was a beautiful sunrise and clear skies all day.The gators were out sunning themselves. At day break I fished with floating floating DT's and after the sun came out, I was flipping trickworms into the heavy cover.
